Book Manufacturing Government Communication on Covid 19

Download or read book Manufacturing Government Communication on Covid 19 written by Philippe J. Maarek and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-09-10 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a comparative perspective on different government communication strategies to COVID-19 around the globe. Scholars from twenty parts of the world specialized in political and government communication analyze initiatives and methods of various governments' communicative responses to the pandemic. In their contributions to this volume, they examine a wide range of distinct attitudes and reactions facing the crisis. Today’s omnidirectional contact allowed by social media, with its load of contradictory rumors and fake news, often obliterates the citizens' ability to comprehend reality. The book frames a broad canvas on how government communication may deal with that and manage similar crises — bound to happen as climate changes and war menaces are generating more and more worries about the future of humanity. This makes this volume a must-read for scholars and students of political communication, health policies and communication, crisis marketing and communication. It will also be of utmost interest for practitioners and policy-makers from these fields willing to better understand government communication and its answer to global crises.

Book Mothers Mothering and COVID 19

Download or read book Mothers Mothering and COVID 19 written by Fiona J Green and published by Demeter Press. This book was released on 2021-02-28 with total page 453 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There has been little public discussion on the devastating impact of Covid-19 on mothers, or a public acknowledgement that mothering is frontline work in this pandemic. This collection of 45 chapters and with 70 contributors is the first to explore the impact of the pandemic on mothers' care and wage labour in the context of employment, schooling, communities, families, and the relationships of parents and children. With a global perspective and from the standpoint of single, partnered, queer, racialized, Indigenous, economically disadvantaged, disabled, and birthing mothers, the volume examines the increasing complexity and demands of childcare, domestic labour, elder care, and home schooling under the pandemic protocols; the intricacies and difficulties of performing wage labour at home; the impact of the pandemic on mothers' employment; and the strategies mothers have used to manage the competing demands of care and wage labour under COVID-19. By way of creative art, poetry, photography, and creative writing along with scholarly research, the collection seeks to make visible what has been invisibilized and render audible what has been silenced: the care and crisis of motherwork through and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Book A Psychobiography of Viktor E Frankl

Download or read book A Psychobiography of Viktor E Frankl written by Nataliya Krasovska and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-27 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a psychobiography on the life of Viktor Frankl and a unique exploration of his life from a positive psychology perspective. It uses Paul Wong’s theory of positive psychology wave 2 (PP2.0) and explores the concepts of meaning and virtue throughout Frankl's life span. The authors define virtue in terms of appreciation of beauty, gratitude, hope, humour and spirituality, and define meaning based on Paul Wong’s PURE model. They apply Irving Alexander’s primary indicators of psychological salience and W.T. Schultz’s prototypical scenes to analyse Frankl's important life events. This psychobiography presents an original contribution to theory on three levels: advancing the literature in psychobiography, developing the field of PP2.0, and providing new insights into Frankl’s life. It is a must for psychographers, positive psychologists and people interested in Frankl’s life and theoretical contributions.

Book Consequences of the COVID 19 Pandemic for Evidence based Public Health Measures Fostering Child and Adolescent Mental Health

Download or read book Consequences of the COVID 19 Pandemic for Evidence based Public Health Measures Fostering Child and Adolescent Mental Health written by Stephan Bender and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-08-28 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Covid-19 pandemic has had a major impact on infants, children, and adolescents. While the clinical course of SARS-Cov2 is generally mild in young subjects, significant challenges in this age group have been identified regarding mental health. These challenges were associated with social distancing and public health measures employed to limit infection rates. Different countries chose to adopt different public health strategies concerning the extent of social isolation of children, for example, whether and how long schools were closed. Pandemic isolation as a natural experiment allows for assessing the consequences for the psychosocial development and mental health of the next generation. It has become clear that timely research is necessary to guide healthcare and welfare politics to provide adequate surveillance strategies for children and adolescents in order to make a maximum of safe social contact in this context possible. Moreover, the consequences of disease management measures such as social distancing, homeschooling, or mask-wearing for the well-being and mental health of the next generation also need to be quantified. The psychosocial burden on children and adolescents must be addressed and effective measures to return to healthy lives and learn our lesson for future pandemic situations need to be based on solid evidence. Apart from a dimensional assessment of sub-categorical impairments, clinical consequences with respect to categorical mood, anxiety, or eating disorders warrant a thorough examination. Adequate scientific instruments for the monitoring and assessment of psychosocial consequences for children and adolescents need to be provided, addressing both the view of parents and children and adolescents themselves. Finally, apart from safe real-life social contacts, digital technologies, and telemedicine interventions, ranging from videoconference-based psychotherapy to mobile phone apps, need to be further investigated in children and adolescents to provide adequate health care in a pandemic situation.

Book Public Procurement Regulation in a Crisis

Download or read book Public Procurement Regulation in a Crisis written by Sue Arrowsmith and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2021-11-04 with total page 560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This timely book provides the first systematic analysis of global public procurement regulation and policy during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. Through both thematic chapters and national case studies, this book: - explores the adequacy of traditional legal frameworks for emergency procurement; - examines how governments and international organisations have responded specifically to the pandemic; and - considers how the experience of the pandemic and the political impetus for reform might be leveraged to improve public procurement more broadly. Public procurement has been critical in delivering vital frontline public services both in the health sector and elsewhere, with procurement of ventilators, protective equipment and new hospitals all hitting the headlines. At the same time, procurers have faced the challenge of adjusting existing contracts to a new reality where, for example, some contracted services can no longer operate. Further, efficient and effective procurement will be an essential, and not a luxury, in the economic recovery. With case studies on Italy, the UK, the USA, India, Singapore, Africa, Latin America and China, the book brings together the world's leading academics and practitioners from across Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa to examine these issues, providing an essential resource for policy makers, legislators, international organisations and academics.
