Book ElectroEncephaloGraphics A Novel Modality For Graphics Research

Download or read book ElectroEncephaloGraphics A Novel Modality For Graphics Research written by Maryam Mustafa and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2015-09-22 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My work uses EEG data to determine the perceptual quality of videos and images which is of paramount importance for most graphics algorithms. This is especially important given the gap between perceived quality of an image and physical accuracy. This thesis begins by introducing the fundamentals of EEG measurements and its neurophysiological basis. Following this introduction, I present a novel method for determining perceived image and video quality from a single trial of EEG data in response to typical rendering artifacts. I also explore the use of EEG for direct neural feedback and present a neural-feedback loop for the optimization of rendering parameters for images and videos. I conclude with an outlook on what the future of EEG in graphics may hold.

Book Mobile 3D Graphics SoC

Download or read book Mobile 3D Graphics SoC written by Hoi-Jun Yoo and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2010-04-27 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first book to explain the principals behind mobile 3D hardware implementation, helping readers understand advanced algorithms, produce low-cost, low-power SoCs, or become familiar with embedded systems As mobile broadcasting and entertainment applications evolve, there is increasing interest in 3D graphics within the field of mobile electronics, particularly for handheld devices. In Mobile 3D Graphics SoC, Yoo provides a comprehensive understanding of the algorithms of mobile 3D graphics and their real chip implementation methods. 3D graphics SoC (System on a Chip) architecture and its interaction with embedded system software are explained with numerous examples. Yoo divides the book into three sections: general methodology of low power SoC, design of low power 3D graphics SoC, and silicon implementation of 3D graphics SoCs and their application to mobile electronics. Full examples are presented at various levels such as system level design and circuit level optimization along with design technology. Yoo incorporates many real chip examples, including many commercial 3D graphics chips, and provides cross-comparisons of various architectures and their performance. Furthermore, while advanced 3D graphics techniques are well understood and supported by industry standards, this is less true in the emerging mobile applications and games market. This book redresses this imbalance, providing an in-depth look at the new OpenGL ES (The Standard for Embedded Accelerated 3D Graphics), and shows what these new embedded systems graphics libraries can provide for 3D graphics and games developers.

  • Author : Robert Ransom
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2012-12-06
  • ISBN : 1468414909

Download or read book Computer Graphics in Biology written by Robert Ransom and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computer graphics is being used to an increasing extent in the biological disciplines. As hardware costs drop and technological developments intro duce new graphics possibilities, researchers and teachers alike are becoming aware of the value of visual display methods. In this book we introduce the basics of computer graphics from the standpoints of both hardware and software, and review the main areas within biology to which computer graphics have been applied. The com puter graphics literature is vast, and we have not been able to give a full course on graphics techniques in these pages. We have instead tried to give a fairly balanced account of the use of graphics in biology, suitable for the reader with some elementary grounding in computer programming. We have included extensive references both to material cited in the text and to other relevant publications. One of the factors that has fuelled the increase in graphics use is the ease with which the more simple graphics techniques may be implemented on microcomputers. We hav.e, therefore, paid attention to microcomputer graphics as well as graphics techniques suitable for larger machines. Our examples range from simple two-dimensional graph plots to highly complex surface representations of molecules that require sophisticated graphics devices and mainframe computers on which to run. The book is separated into two logical sections. The first part con centrates on general graphics techniques, giving an overview from which the reader will be able to refer to other more specialised texts as required.

Book Understanding Children s Mathematical Graphics Beginnings in Play

Download or read book Understanding Children s Mathematical Graphics Beginnings in Play written by Elizabeth Carruthers and published by McGraw-Hill Education (UK). This book was released on 2011-04-16 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book challenges traditional beliefs and practices of teaching 'written' mathematics in early childhood. It gives theoretical underpinnings and offers exciting insights and context to children's early mathematical thinking and in particular into children's mathematical graphics, showing how this supports their understanding of the abstract symbolic language of mathematics. Drawing on a wide range of examples, it illustrates and explains how children explore and communicate their mathematical thinking through their mathematical graphics, and how this begins in play. The book looks at the power of children's own marks, symbols and other graphical representations to convey meanings, exploring how they support complex thinking. The authors explore the relationship between children's play and meaning making. Rather than viewing mathematics as a separate subject or as a set of basic 'skills' to be transmitted, they demonstrate that in supportive learning cultures children develop their own mathematical thinking to solve problems. Key features include: Numerous new examples and case studies of children from birth to 8 years, highlighting the complexity and richness of children's thinking Explanation of pedagogical issues - showing how they can support rich play and mathematics Draws on the authors' latest research This book is valuable reading for students, teachers, primary mathematics coordinators' and all early years' professionals working in the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage One.
