Book Grandma s Helper

Download or read book Grandma s Helper written by Helena Hayes Thomas and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-11 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I was inspired by my grandson, Michael Thomas, Jr., to write "Grandma's Helper". I didn't realize that over the years I had forgotten so much. As I spent treasured moments caring for my grandchild, I would jot down little reminders as to what to do next in the course of the day of grandparenting. Then it occurred to me to compile the notes into a book to help other grandmas, grandpas, moms, and dads. Introducing a child to the world around him provides opportunity to bring out the physical as well as the spiritual side of his development. Early training and guidance of small children provide valuable lessons for grandparents. The main ingredients that we must possess are tender loving care and a reverence for God and His Word as we train our children in the way they should go. It is the purpose of this book to teach the fulfillment of that commission.

Book excerpt: This Infant and toddler book is narrated through the eyes of a baby. She describes her day with her grandma, that just came to visit, with a little twist in the aspect of the grandma. Nowadays, grandmas are no longer the way that stories and movies keep illustrating them. She may not be that young anymore, but she still has grace, beauty, and style. The most important part of this book is the exaggerated expression and the description of the emotion in the story. This is so the kids can associate the feeling with the facial expression and, by doing so, they start to identify their own feelings.

He's suffered from one of his too often perils with bullets and went to a nearby hospital and that's where he met her. He's instantly fallen head over heels for her. He started faking injuries to see her. There was only one problem. He was shy with women. True, he was almost seven feet tall and wasn't afraid to take on an insurgent with his bare hands. But being around Destiny he was tongue-tied and always felt out of sorts. There's also the deflating knowledge that Destiny only sees him as a friend and nothing more. He couldn't ask his friends for advice. They would only tease him. So he selfishly keeps quiet about her and buries his love for her deep inside. Destiny had been drawn to Mike since the moment he walked into her grandma's hospital room. He became an anchor for her and a best friend. He reminds her of a gentle giant and treats her like the finest china. The more time she spends with him she realizes her feelings are much deeper than friendship, but Mike doesn't see her that way. She's just the woman he always hangs out with out of pity because of her sick grandma. When Destiny's mom and her lastest beau breeze into town their relationship will be put to the test and a growing danger to her grandma. Will they finally be able to tell each other how they really feel about each other or will a dangerous foe intervene before they can explore their true feelings.

Download or read book The Healer s Way written by Earnie Larsen and published by Conari Press. This book was released on 2007-09-01 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A leader in the recovery movement reveals how we can all heal. At the center of The Healer's Way is the "hoop"--a seven-step process of healing. First we need to make sure our core needs are met; without those we not only can't heal ourselves or others--we probably can't live. Then we need to get lost (step 2), get hurt (step 3), get stuck and hit the bottom of the circle (step 4). Only then can we get called (step 5), get up (step 6), and get going (step 7). Once we get going, we move through the cycle again and again, as life presents us with new opportunities for healing ourselves and others. The Healer's Way is the culmination of Earnie Larsen's thirty-plus years as a counselor. The seeds for the book were the questions of a young counselor: How do you keep going? What do you do when you can't make a difference? What makes a healer? The young man asked Larsen to be his mentor and some time later his stories, clues, questions, and answers came together in this book. Larsen writes, "In the beginning, and in the end, healing is about change. The pages here are about one thing and one thing only: the spiritual alchemy involved in the amazing-grace process of personal transformation."

He recounts stories of the evil eye and rooster racing, the Wailing Woman and the punishing of the santos. Preceding each tale is García’s brief explanation of the history and culture behind the story.
