Book excerpt: Must the gospel message include a call for people to repent of their sins? “No,” say Free Grace advocates. Is evidence of a changed life an important indication of whether a person is truly born again? “No, again,” these advocates say. But in this book, Wayne Grudem shows how the Bible answers “Yes” to both of these questions, arguing that the Free Grace movement contradicts both historic Protestant teaching and the New Testament itself. This important book explains the true nature of the Christian gospel and answers the question asked by so many people: “How can I know that I’m saved?”

Book excerpt: There are many voices out there today that give conflicting messages about what we must do to receive and know that we have eternal life as a secure and sure possession. The world's religions all point to the works of man for the reception of eternal life. Reformed Theology looks to the works of man to know we have it and Arminianism looks tot he same to keep it.Free Grace Theology stands in sharp contrast to these. It teaches that anyone can receive everlasting life by faith alone in the crucified and risen Savior, Jesus Christ, and that he can know he has it as a sure and secure possession based on God's promises alone. Free Grace Theology: 5 Ways It Magnifies the Gospel sets out to demonstrate that this is not only biblical, but that it magnifies the gospel, giving glory to God.

Book Freely by His Grace

Download or read book Freely by His Grace written by J. B. Hixson and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 632 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For centuries people have enjoyed singing about the "amazing grace" of God. Discover in the book, FREELY BY HIS GRACE, why God's grace is so amazing . . . and free! Grace is what distinguishes authentic biblical Christianity from every world religion. Grace is free to the recipient but costly to the Giver. It changes lives and eternal destinies. It characterizes the Giver as "the God of all grace." Theology itself, therefore, must be absorbed with God's grace. FREELY BY HIS GRACE provides a thoroughly biblical approach to theology, demonstrating how God's grace remains consistently "free" in such relevant areas as Free Grace theology, Grace, the Gospel, Lordship Salvation, Discipleship, Faith, Repentance, Regeneration, Eternal Security, Assurance, Sin, Sanctification, Rewards, Dispensationalism, Missions, Evangelism, and Disciple making. FREELY BY HIS GRACE is written by fourteen different authors and leaders, including pastors, professors, seminary presidents, and ministry leaders, who provide a wealth of sound biblical, theological, and practical insight into the theme of God's amazing and free grace.

Book excerpt: Eight gospel-centered strategies for overcoming the lure of pornography and finally breaking free. This book is not about pornography. You won't find graphic depictions about the porn industry, the catastrophic effects it has on individuals and relationships, or how to think differently about porn. If you're reading this book, you probably have some understanding of those things already—the last thing you need is to be subjected to that kind of detail...again. Finally Free is about hope. It's about discovering the freeing power available to those who trust in Jesus Christ, who can, will, and does set people free from the power of pornography. Dr. Heath Lambert, a leader in the biblical counseling movement, has organized this book around eight clear and practical tactics you can wield to make it easier to flee lust and temptation and shelter in the protection of God's grace. Each chapter: Clearly demonstrates how the gospel applies to the fight against sexual temptation. Lays out relevant methods for leaning on Christ's strength—both in advance of and in moments of temptation. Explains how Jesus can move readers from a life of struggle to a life of purity. If you've struggled personally against the powerful draw of pornography, or if you've ever tried to help someone fighting this battle, you know how hard it is to break its bonds. But there is good news: no matter how intense or long-standing the struggle, Jesus Christ has the power to free people from the enslaving power of pornography. The Gospel has a power that works practically in the lives of those who seek to imitate Christ—and you can learn how to live into that power.

Book Grace Salvation and Discipleship

Download or read book Grace Salvation and Discipleship written by Charles C. Bing and published by . This book was released on 2015-09-15 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many Bible passages are difficult to understand, especially when it comes to the issues of eternal salvation and following Jesus Christ as a disciple. In "Grace, Salvation, and Discipleship" you will find how to approach over 130 difficult Bible passages. Beginning with a clear understanding of God s grace and using a unique paradigm of A Truth, B Truth, you will discover from the context whether the passage is about salvation or the Christian life. In this book Dr. Charles Bing will help you to answer the questions: Is becoming a Christian the same as becoming a disciple? Do I have to work to earn or keep my salvation? How many good works do I need to prove I am saved? Can I be absolutely certain I am going to heaven? How should I deal with doubts about my salvation? How does sin affect my relationship with God? How can I have a richer experience of God in this life and the next? A correct understanding of salvation and discipleship is crucial to understanding the Bible and growing in the Christian life. Only when we clearly understand what God says can we effectively share a clear gospel, be assured of our salvation, and grow in our relationship with Him. I have added it to my short list of recommended books on biblical difficulties. Norman L. Geisler, Ph.D.,"

Book Free Grace And Dying Love

Download or read book Free Grace And Dying Love written by Susannah Spurgeon and published by Darolt Books. This book was released on 2020-01-22 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Susannah Spurgeon was the wife of the famous Baptist preacher of the second half of the nineteenth-century, Charles Haddon Spurgeon. She was born Susannah Thompson in January, 1832. Her early years were spent in London, where she often accompanied her parents or elderly friends to the New Park Street Chapel. She was converted upon hearing a sermon at the old Poultry Chapel by Rev S. B. Bergne from Romans 10:8 'From that service I date the dawning of the true light in my soul'. But her initial joy was replaced by 'seasons of darkness, despondency, and doubt', and it was not until she was helped by the new, youthful, pastor of New Park Street Spurgeon that she found 'the peace and pardon [her] weary soul was longing for'. Her friendship with Spurgeon grew, and they were married in January 1856. Their twin sons, Charles Jr. and Thomas, were born in September, 1857. Susannah became a true partner in her husband's ministry. Spurgeon would call his 'wifey' to come and help him on Saturday afternoons. Together they would read commentaries and discuss the Scripture for the next day's sermon. If he was discouraged, she would read to him. She counselled women and girls in the church and assisted female candidates at baptismal services. Her activities were restricted at times when she became chronically ill in the late 1860s, and was often confined to her room, or visited Brighton for relief. In 1875, when she had proof-read the first volume of her husband's book Lectures to My Students, she expressed a desire to 'place it in the hands of every minister in England'and so began the ministry of her Book Fund. Within a year, over 3000 volumes of theological books had been distributed by the Fund; by the time of her death, over 200,000 volumes had been sent out. Today, the supplying of theological books free to ministers and missionaries continues through the Book Fund of the Banner of Truth Trust, modelled upon that started by Susannah Spurgeon. Susannah's work expanded to include other ministries, such as the Pastors' Aid Fund and the Westwood Clothing Society. In her remaining years, following Charles' death in 1892, she assisted Joseph Harrald in compiling C.H. Spurgeon's Autobiography and also wrote a number of devotional books, including Free Grace and Dying Love, published by the Trust (which volume contains a Life of Susannah Spurgeon by Charles Ray). She died in October, 1903, after a severe attack of pneumonia from which she never recovered.

Book Living in the Balance of Grace and Faith

Download or read book Living in the Balance of Grace and Faith written by Andrew Wommack and published by Destiny Image Publishers. This book was released on 2011-06-24 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Popular Bible teacher and host of the Gospel Truth broadcast, Andrew Wommack takes on one of the biggest controversies of the church, the freedom of God's grace verses the faith of the believer. Wommack reveals that God's power is not released from only grace or only faith. God's blessings come through a balance of both grace and faith. Addressing many of the misconceptions believers are taught in the Church today, this book opens up the Scriptures revealing the vital connection between grace and faith. Many believers think they walk in both grace and faith when actually they are misusing one or both of these principles. Wommack addresses: * Some believers willingly sin believing Gods grace will cover them, while the blessing of grace is not to sin, but to release guilt and condemnation when they make a mistake. * Other believers think they must "work" their faith by ritualistic prayer, confession, or Bible study. Although all these things are good, Jesus Christ set believers free from works of the law. God wants a relationship where He can communicate directly to each believer. * Grace and faith work together. When believers receive the unmerited favor or grace of God, they can release their faith without doubt or reservation and receive God's blessings. Andrew Wommack in his logical, practical style brings believers back on track in their Christian walk through living in the balance of grace and faith.

Book Heresy of the Grace Evangelical Society

Download or read book Heresy of the Grace Evangelical Society written by Ken Wilson and published by . This book was released on 2020-12-31 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. Ken Wilson exposes the development of a modern heresy first introduced by Zane Hodges and then promoted by Bob Wilkin's Grace Evangelical Society (GES). As a friend and former financial supporter of Hodges, Dr. Wilson details Hodges' development of a new heresy from the late 1980s until his death in 2008. He compares Hodges' theology with the current theology of Bob Wilkin and his GES. As a Patristics scholar, Wilson demonstrates why this novel theology is a modern Christian heresy and why the majority of Free Grace proponents adamantly reject it. He then recounts the failed efforts of friends and academic colleagues to bring Zane Hodges, Bob Wilkin, and his Grace Evangelical Society out of their heretical theology back into traditional Christian orthodoxy."Kenneth Wilson has written a sensitive and accurate assessment of the theology of Zane Hodges and Bob Wilkin in their departure from the Gospel of Christ. I have watched this movement from its development over the decades that has minimized and confused belief in the person of Christ with the benefits of Christ's work. This is a much needed book for Christians who desire to be orthodox in their theology." - Professor H. Wayne House, Past President, Evangelical Theological Society

Book On Grace and Free Will

Download or read book On Grace and Free Will written by St. Augustine St. Augustine of Hippo and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-11-19 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Christian Church has no shortage of revered figures and saints, but it is difficult to find one that had a more decisive impact on the course of the Church's history than Augustine of Hippo. Augustine was a bishop of Hippo Regius in Africa, but his works, sermons and writings helped hold the Church together even as the Western Roman Empire was in its death throes, to the extent that every major branch of Christianity recognizes him today. The Catholic Church has venerated him as a saint and a Doctor of the Church, Orthodox Christians also consider him a saint, and Protestants and Calvinists cite him as one of the fathers and inspirations of the Protestant Reformation. In many respects, Augustine has provided the theological bedrock for Christians for nearly 1600 years, and as theologian John Leith noted in 1990, "Augustine, the North African of Berber descent, is today the spiritual father of multitudes who are remote indeed from him racially, politically, and culturally." Augustine's voluminous writings also had the effect of making him one of antiquity's most influential philosophers. Though he will always be remembered within the context of Christianity, Augustine studied the works of Virgil, Cicero, and the ancient Greek philosophers, providing a critical bridge between religious and secular philosophy that would in turn inspire St. Thomas Aquinas and similar thinkers. In addition to framing the concept of original sin, it was Augustine who first wrote at length on the theory of just war. Paul Henry, S.J. noted, "In the history of thought and civilization, Saint Augustine appears to me to be the first thinker who brought into prominence and undertook an analysis of the philosophical and psychological concepts of person and personality. These ideas, so vital to contemporary man, shape not only Augustine's own doctrine on God but also his philosophy of man..." On Grace and Free Will, Augustine's doctrine about the liberum arbitrium or free will and its inability to respond to the will of God without divine grace, is interpreted (mistakenely according to Roman Catholics) in terms of Predestination: grace is irresistible, results in conversion, and leads to perseverance.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ever since Cain and Abel, God's people have been asking, "What is the proper way to worship God?" In five compelling chapters, Scott Aniol explains that corporate worship theology and practice must be founded in the Word of God. There we discover that corporate worship's goal is communion with God through regular, weekly covenant renewal, wherein the entire congregation engages in dialogue with God in a meeting structured around the gospel, toward the goal of spiritual fellowship with God through Christ by the Spirit.

Book A Treatise of God s Free Grace and Man s Free Will

Download or read book A Treatise of God s Free Grace and Man s Free Will written by William Perkins and published by Puritan Publications. This book was released on 2011-08-08 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This treatise is an echo of Scripture teaching how God’s will and man’s will work in their respective spheres, and with each other working from his text, Matthew 23:37-38. This work is designed to humble the creature in realizing that God’s free grace is that which enables man to believe the Gospel. And it also teaches that man’s free will is actually a slave to his desires. Perkins' covers the will of God looking at both God’s sovereignty and God’s good pleasure in light of Jerusalem’s unwillingness to repent. He also covers the will of man in four important areas: in the garden before the fall, after the fall, in light of and after regeneration, and glorified in heaven.
