Book Musings of a Christian Physician on the Physical and Spiritual Healing of Man

Download or read book Musings of a Christian Physician on the Physical and Spiritual Healing of Man written by Joseph DeMay MD FAAP and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2020-05-27 with total page 355 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I had always believed in the healing power of our Lord, and viewed my life as one of service to Him via the practice of medicine. But, in retrospect, I had a deeper trust in the power of modern medicine and science than I did in Jesus Christ and His fully accomplished work on the Cross. My thinking was flawed, but, as I grew in my walk with the Lord and meditated on Scripture more fully, I began to see the superiority of faith over the limited interventions modern medical science had to offer, and that this interplay between faith and science was not mutually exclusive, but complimentary, for the spiritual aspects of our lives illuminate and empower the carnal aspects of intellect and physical senses. I began jotting notes to myself related to this interplay of faith and healing and science, and just filed them away...for years. IThen, in December of 2017, a baby was born to a first time mother of mine, his little body riddled with the most fulminant form of acute lymphoblasic leukemia, almost always fatal. His absolutely miraculous healing was the impetus to start putting these thoughts into writing, in the form of weekday morning emails entitled “A Christian Doctor’s View of Healing, Faiith, and Science”. It was soon made clear to me that these writings were to take the form of a year long devotional book, comprised of short weekday messages that are intimately linked, such that they can be read through as a book. And that book was to paint a picture, and that picture was to be of a face, and the face was to be that of Jesus, for He is the source of all healing

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to most dictionaries, “Musings” are periods of reflection or thought. After so many years of living (a lot of years!) I’ve been able to experience God in so many incredible ways. In my Family, my Marriage, my Kids and Grandkids, my Ministry and my Music. Call me simple, but I look for God in all activity in my life. From my greatest victories to the most horrible failures, God has been right there in the mix. Nothing happens to me without Him knowing about it. There are still plenty of things I cannot figure out: Why does the creator of the universe who named all the stars think about me - and why so often? Why does He lavish such love on me? Why is He working behind the scenes orchestrating all things for my own good. I just don’t get it. You? There I go again ‘Musing’. That’s the story of my life. Enjoy my Musings; hopefully they will bring a smile, an “LOL” or a tear as you read some of my most intimate moments with God.

This is what makes it such a wonderful adventure.

Book The Forty Parables of Jesus

Download or read book The Forty Parables of Jesus written by Gerhard Lohfink and published by Liturgical Press. This book was released on 2021-07-15 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 2022 Catholic Media Association first place award in scripture: academic studies In this book, which covers all of Jesus’ parables, award-winning author Gerhard Lohfink takes a closer look at the origins of each one—its shape, its realistic details, but most of all its original message and the situation into which it was once spoken. Jesus’ parables speak in bold images of the kingdom of God, making it present to us as they reveal something of the mystery of his own person. Lohfink also offers a review of some of the scholarship in this area—as this topic has sustained research on Jesus since the first telling of these stories—but not for the purposes of debate. His reflections interpret the forty parables and show how they speak of the coming of the reign of God, lead us to Jesus, and reveal the mystery of Jesus himself.

  • ISBN : 1326070851
  • Pages : 196 pages

Download or read book Biblical Musings written by Curt Koenders and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014-11-05 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a collection of columns, initially written for a church magazine. From childhood in Sunday School the author has been fascinated by the stories in the bible and here in his Biblical Musings he shares that sense of wonder with the reader in a set of original, irreverent sketches. If you want to know what exactly went on with, for example, Moses in the basket or with Solomon's judgement of the two prostitutes, this is the book for you. There is even an entertaining chapter on the book of Revelation. The musings have reportedly been very helpful to preaching ministers, home groups and students of the bible. However, you don't have to be a church-going Christian, or professional theologian to enjoy this collection, but keep a bible handy just in case you want to look something up.
