When it comes to Poetry, it, Messages along with Love are the predominant topics of my expressions. I have always felt that understanding things was essential to the lowering of my "Angst Index". This collection of work found in The Vine Keeper is such a work. My intent is that it will assist the reader in their own journey. It is not that i proclaim to provide the answers another may be seeking, but perhaps you will find the questions that help you recognize that you already possess all that you need within you. I too am a Seeker, and i have been since the formative years of my thinking and the acknowledgment of the structure of this world with it's Rite and Rote and various other Dogmas and Indoctrination that does not necessarily provide me any particular insight to the questions we all ask at one time or another. Book excerpt: For fans of My (Not So) Perfect Life and Jasmine Guillory’s While We Were Dating, a disarmingly fun debut novel follows Carlisa Henton as her life comes undone after a chance meeting with a rising pop star. Carlisa “Carli” Henton is a musician and songwriter hoping to follow in her father’s musical footsteps. But, biding her time until she makes it big in the music industry, she works as a junior account manager at a big-name media company to cover her New York City rent. Carli meticulously balances her work with her musical endeavors as a songwriter—until a chance meeting with rising star Tau Anderson sends her calculated world into a frenzy. Their worlds collide and quickly blur the strict lines Carli has drawn between her business and her personal life, throwing Carli’s reputation—and her burgeoning songwriting career—into question. A smart, timely, energizing romance, Good Morning, Love shows us what the glamorous New York’s music scene is really like and takes us into the lives of a rising but somewhat troubled R&B star and a promising protégé who knows her job better than she knows herself. With fresh and honest prose, Good Morning, Love examines the uncertainty of being a new professional looking to chase a dream while also trying to survive in a world that’s not always kind to ambitious women.

Book excerpt: MYSTICAL WINGS ITS ALL ABOUT THE SPIRIT! MYSTICAL WINGS is the latest book from the actress, broadcaster and Puerto Rican writer Gilda Miros. From her previous books "Memorias de los Espiritus y mi Madre and "Spirit Messages to my Mother" readers know that they were mother and daughter in a previous lifetime and reincarnated as daughter and mother. Upon the death of her mother Monserrate, six years ago, Gilda began receiving spirit communications and was able to channel her mother and other loving spirits from their previous lives. This touching psychic narrative by Gilda Mirs; a Chronicle of Love and Communications between two dimensions is a marvelous gift to the world. The book was compiled by Gilda as she channeled messages from the astral realm. With this book the fear of death, once more, is dispelled and the soul soars with Mystical Wings. From Mystical Wings: Message from a spirit guide: My beloved Gilda, we are a fraternity of spirits with a great plan; ready to transmit stories, anecdotes and messages to alleviate humanity. All this has a greater goal; to rescue those who seek enlightenment, here and there. There are good but confused or maimed souls, who need a caring and guiding hand. God in his Mercy has allowed us to do this project with you; beginning a wonderful cycle of communications. How magnificent it is to know that the spirit lives on, that the souls essence lingers on, that nothing tarnishes it, nor does it end; it is wonderful. We have a great commitment and mission; wishing to leave our legacy of love and peace in these pages, so that everyone can satisfy their cravings and worldly anxieties, and therefore be able to climb the mountain of faith, hope, and brotherly love; working for peace on earth.

Book Rentier Islamism

  • Author : Courtney Freer

Download or read book Rentier Islamism written by Courtney Freer and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2018-03-01 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While scholars have long looked at the role of political Islam in the Middle East, it has been assumed that domestic politics in the wealthy monarchical states of the Arabian Gulf, so-called "rentier states" where taxes are very low and oil wealth subsidizes the needs of citizens, are largely unaffected by such movements. However, the long accepted rentier theory has been shortsighted in overlooking the socio-political role played by Muslim Brotherhood affiliates in the super-rentiers of Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. While rentier state theory assumes that citizens of such states will form opposition blocs only when their stake in rent income is threatened, this book demonstrates that ideology, rather than rent, have motivated the formation of independent Islamist movements in the wealthiest states of the region. In the monarchical systems of Qatar and the UAE, Islamist groups do not have the opportunity to compete for power and therefore cannot use the ballot box to gain popularity or influence political life, as they do elsewhere in the Middle East. But, as this book points out, the division between the social and political sectors is often blurred in the socially conservative states of the Gulf, as political actors operate through channels that are not institutionalized. Simply because politics is underinstitutionalized in such states does not mean that it is underdeveloped; the informal realm holds considerable political capital. As such, the book argues that Brotherhood movements have managed to use the links between the social (i.e. informal personal networks) and political (i.e. government institutions) to gain influence in policymaking in such states.Using contemporary history and original empirical research, Courtney Freer updates traditional rentier state theory and argues that political Islam serves as a prominent voice and tool to promote more strictly political, and often populist or reformist, views supported by many Gulf citizens.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: n 1814, the war being raged on the seas of the Indian Ocean by the all-powerful Franco-British naval forces trying to dominate the lucrative trade routes to India, had ended with a truce. At the stroke of a pen, far away in the city of Paris, the exotic, tropical islands of the Seychelles became a British colony. Forged from their French descendants and African slave roots, and moulded by their new British rulers, a small nation had emerged. It is July 1912 on the island of Mahe, and Anna Savy has just turned sixteen. Anna is a passionate, nature-loving and rebellious young woman at a time when women are confined to specific roles and expectations, and custom and tradition prevail with reverence. Strongly-held beliefs in the goodness and righteousness of God, and in the secret and evil forces of witchcraft, hold equal sway in a closely-knit Catholic community. As a young nurse, Anna experiences both the joy and pain of her people, for survival is a daily struggle for the majority. A smallpox epidemic brings tragedy to Mahe’s Victoria Hospital, with the hatred and conflict between Anna’s British and Irish colleagues laid bare, whilst forbidden love brings the missing dimension to her life. But then, the First World War brings the worst possible disaster...
