Tui was tragically widowed in her early 30 s and left to raise two young children as a single mother. She worked as a registered nurse, having broad experience for over 35 years. Tui is widely travelled, having been accepted for the prestigious position of private nurse for Lady Winston Churchill in London from 1972 to 1973. When Tui, sustained a spinal cord injury requiring surgeries 15 years ago, she could no longer work in her trained capacity, so turned her attention to prevention by drawing upon her medical knowledge and experience to research non-toxic alternatives in her goal to provide a series of books for her upcoming "Wholesome Living Collection." Preventing illness and disease, and making life easy, safe, natural and thrifty is her prime focus. Tui is also author of an Amazon 5-star book and multiple times publisher s best monthly seller titled: "Going Green Using Diatomaceous Earth How-To Tips." Book Step by step guide to preserving vegetables Fermenting pickling canning dehydrating and freezing your favorite products

Download or read book Step by step guide to preserving vegetables Fermenting pickling canning dehydrating and freezing your favorite products written by and published by jideon francisco marques. This book was released on 2024-04-02 with total page 419 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How to Use this Book This book is based on my desire to preserve vegetables in ways that my family will eat and do that as efficiently as possible. When possible, I preserve vegetables in a meal-ready way. Instead of canning a bunch of carrot slices in quart (1-L)-sized jars when I bring in a large carrot harvest, I’ll make a batch of Canned Spice Carrot Soup and a couple of jars of Fermented Mexican Carrots. Then, I’ll use the tops to make Frozen Carrot Top Pesto for the freezer. The carrot soup is the only time-consuming item; the other two can be put together while the soup is processing. The first part of this book is an overview of food preservation methods: canning, both water bath and pressure canning, dehydrating, fermenting and freezing. You’ll find the basics of how to use these methods to safely preserve vegetables, but you won’t find details for every scenario that could happen while preserving vegetables. I’ve written these chapters with enough information to get you started preserving the harvest, but not so much information that it leads to confusion and information overload. The rest of this book is focused on growing and preserving the most popular vegetables and herbs that are grown in the home garden. Each vegetable has its own chapter and, in that chapter, you’ll find instructions on how to grow, purchase, can, dehydrate, ferment and freeze that vegetable. You will also find recipes that highlight the vegetable; most of these recipes are for preserving the vegetable, but some recipes use the preserved vegetable. Most of the recipes are written so that you’ll preserve small batches at a time, simply because I find that adjusting recipes to scale up is easier than scaling down. If your family likes a recipe, or if you have enough of one vegetable to make two batches of a recipe, just double the ingredients and it will work out fine. The exception to this is any of the jam or jelly recipes; don’t ever double a jam or jelly recipe or you run the risk of it not setting up. I hope you read through the whole book to get a vision for how these different preservation methods can work together to stock your pantry with food your family will eat. Then, when a vegetable is in season, I hope you reread that vegetable’s chapter and make a plan for preserving all of the harvest in a variety of ways. Of course, I hope that some of our favorite preservation recipes become your family favorites, too.

Book First Aid Guide to Minerals

Download or read book First Aid Guide to Minerals written by Galina St George and published by Galina St George. This book was released on 2021-04-29 with total page 61 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Salts, clays and clay-like minerals have been used both by humans and animals to survive in the harshest conditions as long as they appeared on planet Earth. The reason is that they have always been the most freely and easily available substances to both species. Animals eat clay instinctively, in order to counteract the effects of poisonous substances in plants and to get rid of toxins and internal parasites, as well as to replenish themselves in vital minerals. They roll in mud to rid themselves of ticks, fleas and other skin parasites. They go to salt licks to replenish themselves in salts. The use of minerals by humans goes back to prehistoric times. People of all cultures were using clays for healing, to prevent food poisoning, heal wounds, stop infections, ulcers, as a source of minerals, to stop hunger pains when food was scarce. More recently, clays have been used to minimise the effects of radiation in places of radioactive emergencies – such as Chernobyl. Soldiers of Russia and France were given clay rations during World Wars as a means to stop poisoning from dirty water, heal wounds and prevent diarrhoea. Clays, muds and salts have been used extensively in health and beauty spas, in order to treat chronic health conditions, as well as improve skin and promote rejuvenation. More and more people are beginning to use minerals at home, especially in healing procedures. This book is a brief guide to those who would like to find out what few people know and talk about – how clays, salts and minerals can help in emergency situations. It is not meant to teach how to replace medical treatment with minerals, but to let you know what nature provides should you find yourself in an extreme situation where medicines are unavailable.
