Psalm 139 Jehovahs mine, my Shepherd divine; No want will He fail to surpass; He makes me dine, be filled, and recline In pastures of tender, young grass. Psalm 23 The panting hart seeks most and first For water-brooks, to quench its thirst, Lest it should die; So pants my soul, O God, for Thee Who art the God of life to me: Let me draw nigh! Psalm 42 I have been teaching the Psalms for more than thirty years, and yet, as I read through these poems, I found myself repeatedly stopping to reflect on things I had never considered before, and being blessed by that exercise. Book excerpt: Life is a continuous poem. The third chapter of the journey continues with the poetry of one mans life. The good days and the bad days have been written about in his fi rst two books. As he continues on his journey with God, his desire to know God in a deeper way continues. Inspired by Bible passages from Revelation, the Gospel of John, 1 Peter, Galatians, Matthews Gospel, 1 and 2 Timothy, Ephesians, Jeremiah, Micah, 2 Corinthians, Hebrews, Philippians, Psalms, and everyday life, the trust in his faith in God allows poetry to become a searching of his soul. Poems about his life that he never though he could write, much less talk about, have now been written. They are now an open book for all to read. This is a journey that others have followed as it was written and, at times, have seen themselves in the poetry. The poems are about despair and what God repaired; they are about the joy of understanding Gods written word; they are about the hope we all can have through Gods son, Jesus; they are about our yesterdays, our todays, and our tomorrows living as children of God; they are poems of praise to God for his blessings. His hope is that the reader fi nds hope in the poetry of his daily life.

Download or read book Wisdom N Rhyme written by Noah C. Hardy and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2010-10 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In January, 1987, at age 48, I was stricken with ulcerative colitis. I was gravely ill and on the brink of a major organ failure. All my intestines were severely inflamed because of a medication I had taken in order to treat ankylosing spondylitis. (A form of arthritis of the spine). I spent twelve days in a hospital due to my illness, and a couple nights after my release from the hospital I was in our spare bedroom praying that God would touch and heal me. And during that time of prayer I had an encounter with the Lord God, and that encounter was unlike anything I had ever experienced. I did not see God, nor did I hear His voice, but I felt the Lord's power and presence over-shadowing me in a way in which I go wanting for words in order to fully explain that experience. My encounter with God was similar to that of Job only in that God opened my mind and revealed unto me who I was, and who God the Father really is. The Holy Spirit revealed unto me the enormous sin of pride, and a need for me to repent and change my sinful attitude. Thank You, Lord, for Your eternal mercy! Soon after my spiritual awakening, I began to have thoughts come into my mind in a way that I had not ever experienced. The thoughts were Biblical truths and principles that were often formulated in rhyme, and they were occurring randomly day and night. But soon I realized I was forgetting the rhymes, sometimes within minutes of their occurrence, then I realized there was a necessity to quickly write my thought down; sometimes I would write them on a small piece of scratch paper. For the most part, but with a few exceptions, each page of this book contains rhymes and axioms in the order they initially came into my mind.

Book The Insanity of Obedience

Download or read book The Insanity of Obedience written by Nik Ripken and published by B&H Publishing Group. This book was released on 2014-01-01 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wise Sheep Among the Wolves All Christian disciples have one thing in common: as they carry the gospel across the ocean and across the street, persecution will become the norm for those who choose to follow Jesus. How believers respond in the face of persecution reveals everything about their level of faith and obedience. The Insanity of Obedience is a bold challenge to global discipleship. Nik Ripken exposes the danger of safe Christianity and calls readers to something greater. The Insanity of Obedience challenges Christians in the same, provocative way that Jesus did. This book dares you—and prepares you—to cross the street and the oceans with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Some of Jesus’ instructions sound uncomfortable and are potentially dangerous. We may be initially encouraged by His declaration, “I am sending you out.” But how are we to respond when He then tells us that He is sending us out “like sheep among wolves"? In light of the words of Jesus, how can modern day believers rest comfortably in the status quo? How can we embrace casual faith in light of the radical commands of Jesus which are anything but casual? Ripken brings decades of ministry experience in some of the most persecuted areas of the world to bear on our understanding of faith in Jesus. The Insanity of Obedience is a call to roll up your sleeves . . . and to follow and partner with Jesus in the toughest places on this planet. "We have the high privilege of answering Jesus’ call to go," Ripken says. "But let us be clear about this: we go on His terms, not ours. If we go at all, we go as sheep among wolves." Jesus gives us Himself. And He gives us the tools necessary for those who dare to journey with Him.

Book A Tale Divine in Rhythm and Rhyme the Bible in Verse

Download or read book A Tale Divine in Rhythm and Rhyme the Bible in Verse written by Josh Wondra and published by . This book was released on 2020-11-19 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book began as a learning exercise as the author endeavored to explain to his Russian-speaking students how rhyme and meter were used in the English language. Designed primarily as a reading aid and an educational tool, it's been created with the following ideas in mind: 1) Reading should be a fun experience. 2) It is not necessary to simplify the Bible to make it understandable for young audiences. 3) Pronounceability leads to usability. Children do not naturally have a harsh distinction between hard and easy words. Either a word is familiar or unknown. There's no need to shy away from advanced vocabulary if it is explainable. Vividly illustrated and meticulously crafted in a poetic style, while appealing to young readers, this is the Bible as it has never been rendered before. This first volume covers the entire book of Genesis, from Adam and Eve and the fall of Mankind to the eve of Israel's dramatic Exodus from Egypt.
