Book Right Now Counts Forever

Book excerpt: "Our Christian assertion is that there is more to our lives than 'now.' If there is not then even the now is meaningless. But we say now counts. Why? Now counts because we are creatures who have an origin and a destiny which is rooted and grounded in God." --R.C. Sproul ------ There is no such thing as a meaningless moment. Since we're made in God's image and created for His eternal glory, everything we think, say, and do today matters forever. The question is, How should this truth direct our daily lives? For more than forty years, Dr. R.C. Sproul wrote his recurring column in Tabletalk magazine, Right Now Counts Forever, to apply the teachings of the Bible and Reformed theology to everyday life. No topic was off-limits because every part of our lives bears enduring significance. Through the years, Dr. Sproul helped Christians give careful thought to topics in theology and history, politics and current events, relationships and entertainment, and more. In this four-volume collection, hundreds of Dr. Sproul's columns have been brought together for the first time. Written to serve the church, this treasury of theological reflection can help guide believers of all ages to live with eternity in mind and devote all of life to the glory of God.

Download or read book A Knot Worth Unloosing written by John H. Duff and published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. This book was released on 2019-01-21 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the study of Christian eschatological thought, virtually no attention has been given to past interpretations of the biblical phrase the new heavens and earth. John Duff uncovers the interpretations of this phrase that were extant in seventeenth-century England. These interpretations fall into two basic camps—those that understood the phrase metaphorically and those that understood the phrase literally. Some English divines believed the new heavens and earth referred to the new age of the gospel that commenced in the first century CE. At that time, God flung open the doors of salvation to Gentiles while at the same time bringing judgment to the Jewish nation for its failure to recognize and embrace Jesus as Messiah. This epic transition was fittingly described as a new heavens and earth.A second group of English interpreters believed the phrase stood for a yet future time when the political and religious circumstances of the world would change for the betterment of the church for one thousand years. The new heavens and earth stood for a future millennium in which Christ would establish his reign over the world prior to the day of resurrection and final judgment. Theologians who accepted a literal understanding believed the new heavens and earth described the renovation of the physical creation at the final judgment. Among this group, differences of opinion existed with respect to how much of the world would need cleansing, what creatures would be restored and of what use would a renovated world serve. The idea that the earth, and not heaven, would be the final abode of the saints emerged among a few obscure writers.

Book Using God s Resources Wisely

Download or read book Using God s Resources Wisely written by Walter Brueggemann and published by Westminster John Knox Press. This book was released on 1993-08-01 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New and different readings of biblical texts are one consequence of a growing awareness of the environmental crisis and how it relates to social relations, especially in urban settings. Walter Brueggemann explores readings from Isaiah and how they relate to the environment and urban crisis. He approaches the readings as an artistic-theological history of the city of Jerusalem--a case study of urban environmental crisis that resulted from a lost sense of covenantal neighborliness. Reflecting on Jerusalem, its failure, demise, and prospect, Brueggemann uncovers some alarming parallels in today's urban cities, and offers a demanding but hopeful challenge to faith.

Book See I am Creating New Heavens and a New Earth

Download or read book See I am Creating New Heavens and a New Earth written by Jonathan ãguts Jefferson and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2019-08-14 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is my first book followed by others that are on the way. We know and we sense the church is running out of time and space. Apostle Paul mentioned in the book of 1 Timothy 4:7 there will be bad days with many false teachings deceived by the demons. The Catholic worship Maria, saints, and angels. The Pentecostal Church worship the Holy Spirit, the Christians worship Jesus, and everybody ignores the father that Jesus recommends worship in spirit. The Old Testament and the Book of Revelation also are totally ignored, most of the pastors today preach the death and resurrection of Jesus. Nothing about God the Father or prophecy of the last days, nothing about the rapture of the church. In my book, I try to bring out some beautiful messages of the Old Testament and some messages of the coming of anti-Christ and the rapture of the church and about the new creation (Rom.1:25).

  • Pages : 120 pages

Download or read book Just Do Something written by Kevin DeYoung and published by Moody Publishers. This book was released on 2014-03-21 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: OVER 300,000 COPIES SOLD! Why won’t God reveal his special will for my life already? Because he doesn’t intend to... So says Kevin DeYoung in this punchy book about making decisions the godly way. Many of us are listening for the still small voice to tell us what’s next instead of listening to the clear voice in Scripture telling us what’s now. God does have a will for your life, but it is the same as everyone else’s: Seek first the kingdom of God. And quit floundering. With pastoral wisdom and tasteful wit, DeYoung debunks unbiblical ways of understanding God’s will and constructs a simple but biblical alternative: live like Christ. He exposes the frustrations of our waiting games and unfolds the freedom of finding God’s will in Scripture and then simply doing it. This book is a call to put down our Magic 8-Balls and pick up God’s Word. It’s a call to get wisdom, follow Christ, be holy, and live freely. To just do something.
