Jerry Bridges explores the nine aspects of the “fruit of the Spirit” described in Galatians 5:22-23: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These qualities of character can truly mark our lives if we devote ourselves to a twofold pursuit: God-centeredness and God-likeness. Jerry shows us how to practice the fruit in daily life. Book excerpt: We all know the story of how Adam and Eve ate the apple and sin was introduced. God promised us that He was going to create a new place for us. But this place between the gardens can be hard. Life hasn’t gone the way I thought it would. I’ve always been a woman of faith, so why has all this happened? The struggle we face from that apple is real! I was a child raised in faith who strayed and made bad decisions. I entered into a marriage with a man I loved so much that quickly turned into a very physically abusive relationship that spiraled into every mother’s nightmare. I wish I could say that was it, but it’s not. This man whom I loved so much and who turned into someone I couldn’t recognize committed suicide, which left me full of guilt and fearful to raise our three children alone. The hits kept coming as I continued to get knocked down, now raising teenagers. I’m a single mother of three. I work like Martha and pray like Mary! Life knocks me down over and over. The Bible says that the righteous fall seven times, but I’ve been down more than that. Each time I fell, God has helped me back up, and when I couldn’t get back up, He stood up for me. Why, why do I have to go through this? If I look at the plants in the gardens that have been grown and pruned, I see the Lord, too, has been planting, pruning, and harvesting my life to bloom me into purpose. So many times, I have felt alone and ashamed. If you feel that way or have been through heartbreaking moments and just wonder if you really are a child of God, I’m here to tell you that you are! You are not alone! You are saved! And even when bad things happen, God can turn them into good. This is my story, and it’s raw and emotional. It’s my story of storms, planting, pruning, droughts, and transplanting that is blooming us into a new creation for His glory. I pray that sharing my tragedy and how God grew me and helped me bloom and heal will bring you comfort in your space between the gardens.

Book Every Good Endeavour

    Book Details:

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In today's increasingly competitive and insecure economic environment, we often question the reason for work: why am I doing this? Why is it so hard? And what can I do about it? Work may seem just a means to an end: we do it to earn the money to enjoy life outside the workplace. Here, Timothy Keller argues that God's plan is radically more ambitious: he actually created us to work. We are to work together to make the world a better place, to help each other, and so to find purpose for our lives. Our faith should enhance our work, and our work should develop our faith. With deep insight, Timothy Keller draws on essential and relevant biblical wisdom to address our questions about work. There is grace available if we have taken the wrong attitude, idolising money and using our careers to glorify ourselves rather than God. This book provides the foundations for a work-life balance where we can thrive both personally and professionally. Keller shows how through excellence, integrity, discipline, creativity and passion in the workplace we can impact society for good.Developing a better attitude to work releases us to serve others humbly, to worship God everyday, and leaves us deeply fulfilled.

Book Take Root and Bear Fruit

  • Author : L. Maxwell Owen
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2022-05-10
  • ISBN : 9781685178840
  • Pages : 182 pages

Download or read book Take Root and Bear Fruit written by L. Maxwell Owen and published by . This book was released on 2022-05-10 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It all started in a garden... From the garden of Eden to the garden of Gethsemane, to our eternal home in the garden of the Father, the garden has been a symbol or representation of our journey in this life. Throughout Scripture, we are encouraged to take root in God, to love Him with all of our heart, all of our soul, all of our mind, and all of our strength, and to anchor our souls in Him and in His word. Over and over in the Bible, we are also instructed to bear fruit. Bearing fruit or spreading the good news of the kingdom is a natural outcome of a heart that is wholly His. When we are rooted, sure and steadfast in God, we will impact the lives of those around us for Him; it is inevitable. We bear fruit when we are firmly rooted to the Lord. In this book, Mrs. Owen uses the analogy of a garden to beautifully illustrate this correlation between taking root and bearing fruit. There are many different players and contributors in the garden, each one with their own job to do: pollinators, sunlight, water, gardening tools, and more. Mrs. Owen shares with us how, just as in the garden, each person in the family of God has their own unique purpose. When we all work together, we become a fruitful and abundant garden firmly rooted in God and bearing fruit for His kingdom. "The surviving remnant of the house of Judah will again take root downward and bear fruit upward. For out of Jerusalem will go forth a remnant, and out of Mount Zion survivors. The zeal of the Lord will perform this" (2 Kings 19:30). This verse from 2 Kings can be understood literally as well as figuratively. Yes, God's people would once again plant and harvest the land, but they would also once again be rooted in God's hand, bearing fruit for Him. The goal of this book is to help us all become more firmly rooted in God and active in bearing fruit for Him, not from compulsion but from the joy of knowing our God.

Book The Temple and the Tabernacle

Download or read book The Temple and the Tabernacle written by J. Daniel Hays and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2016-08-02 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Grasp the Majesty, Beauty, and Significance of God's Dwelling Places At various points in Israel's history, God dwelt in specific, significant places, most notably in the tabernacle and the temple. These structures, meticulously planned, extravagantly furnished, and regularly frequented by the devout, were more than just places of worship and sacrifice. They were pictures of God's relationship with his chosen people and of the atoning work that would be done by the Messiah. To understand the tabernacle and the temple, then, is to understand how we are brought into God's family through the sacrifice of his only Son, Jesus. Visually stunning and theologically rich, this full-color resource brings together the latest scholarship and archeological discoveries to bring God's dwelling places alive for modern believers. It places these important structures in their historical and theological contexts, connects them with the overall biblical story, and shows how they bring meaning and depth to the faith of Christians today.

In Gospelbound, Collin Hansen and Sarah Eekhoff Zylstra counter these growing fears with a robust message of resolute hope for anyone hungry for good news. Book Who Told You That You Were Naked

Download or read book Who Told You That You Were Naked written by Karen L Pryor and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2020-07-22 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Words are powerful and when used correctly can ignite a fire that reveals God's original purpose for a person's life, but words misused can quench that fire and destroy purpose. The book "Who Told You That You Were Naked?" looks at creation and How God used the word to speak and create all that we see and all that we are created to be from the beginning of time. Additionally, "Who Told You That You Were Naked?' looks at how the same words God uses to create and build, the enemy uses to distort and tear down the truth to trick use into forfeiting our Kingdom rights and authority. My prayer is after reading "Who Told You That You Were Naked?" you will experience an "aha" moment and reflect and hear God ask the question, "Who told you that you were naked?" Also, in the that moment come to the realization that your nakedness manifested because the enemy lied, tricked, and then exposed your nakedness. Finally, after reconciling that "aha" moment understand and know we need a Savior to cover our nakedness and redeem what the enemy has stolen. Karen L. Pryor is an ordained minister, evangelist, prayer warrior, and psalmist. The call that God has on her life is to evangelize, and spread that good news of gospel of Jesus Christ, and be a voice of encouragement to the Body of Christ.
