Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God's Big Bang presents a short history of science starting with the Greek scientists of the sixth century B.C.E. and moving forward through the twentieth century A.D. The accomplishments of these brilliants minds are expressed in simple terms by a brief textual description or with an algebraic depiction. Because science is accumulative, it is important to have a background in these foundational sciences before moving on to the complication science of the Big Bang theory. Taking the unique approach of using Laplace's probability theory to show that the chances of random generation for the universe without intelligent design are infinitesimally small, God's Big Bang provides a new look at the creation of the universe and the world we live in.

Book Oikos God s Big Word for a Small Planet

Download or read book Oikos God s Big Word for a Small Planet written by Andrew Francis and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2017-04-25 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How you spend your time and money controls what happens on this planet . . . Planet Earth and its people are in danger. We face ongoing economic and ecological crises. These will deepen unless all of God's people begin to act as one global community. Natural resources are diminishing and the economic world order is changing. We cannot go on living as though we can call up another planet. Change is needed now and this book addresses that. The biblical vision of the world as oikos, meaning household, is God's challenge to all people about the way we live now--and in the future. Oikos affirms the need for reconciliation and peace between faiths and nations and should determine our economic practices and how we care for the planet. In this timely and challenging book is a renewed call to follow the Maker's instructions. Whether it is 9/11, Chernobyl, or the 2008 financial crash, that call for change is repeating itself. This book not only explains why we need to change but also provides practical advocacy of how you can help to achieve it.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Somewhere in Christian history we picked up the lie that it is good to suppress excitement. We, as the church, carry with us the regurgitated message that our authentic joy is a “distraction,” that it’s bad for our brothers and sisters to see or be around. But how can our honest displays of his glory be outlawed? How can our authentic responses of adoration be bad? Reflecting God’s character and shining for him is often seen in the church as a selfish act. Yet, we are called to join with creation in boldly declaring the glory of God and worshiping him according to his greatness. Big God, Big Glory shares with readers a heavenly and biblical perspective on how to be free, not suppressed; fulfilled and wholly alive—all for the glory of God.

Book Capitalism God and a Good Cigar

Download or read book Capitalism God and a Good Cigar written by Lydia Chavez and published by Duke University Press. This book was released on 2005-05-06 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When the Soviet Union dissolved, so did the easy credit, cheap oil, and subsidies it had provided to Cuba. The bottom fell out of the Cuban economy, and many expected that Castro’s revolution—the one that had inspired the Left throughout Latin America and elsewhere—would soon be gone as well. More than a decade later, the revolution lives on, albeit in a modified form. Following the collapse of Soviet communism, Castro legalized the dollar, opened the island to tourism, and allowed foreign investment, small-scale private enterprise, and remittances from exiles in Miami. Capitalism, God, and a Good Cigar describes what the changes implemented since the early 1990s have meant for ordinary Cubans: hotel workers, teachers, priests, factory workers, rap artists, writers, homemakers, and others. Based on reporting by journalists, writers, and documentary filmmakers since 2001, each of the essays collected here covers a particular dimension of contemporary Cuban society, revealing what it is like to have lived, for more than a decade, suspended between communism and capitalism. There are pieces on hip hop musicians, fiction writing and censorship, the state of ballet and the performing arts, and the role of computers and the Internet. Other essays address the shrinking yet still sizeable numbers of true believers in the promise of socialist revolution, the legendary cigar industry, the changing state of religion, the significance of the recent influx of money and people from Spain, and the tensions between recent Cuban emigrants and previous generations of exiles. Including more than seventy striking documentary photographs of Cuba’s people, countryside, and city streets, this richly illustrated collection offers keen, even-handed insights into the abundant ironies of life in Cuba today. Contributors. Juliana Barbassa, Ana Campoy, Mimi Chakarova, Lydia Chávez, John Coté, Julian Foley, Angel González, Megan Lardner, Ezequiel Minaya, Daniela Mohor, Archana Pyati, Alicia Roca, Olga R. Rodríguez, Bret Sigler, Annelise Wunderlich

Book excerpt: Americans no longer have the luxury of water cooler debates between ACLU members and the religious right over whether someone may be irreparably harmed by hearing a prayer before a high school football game. There are people around this world, which is getting smaller, more crowded, and easier to access than ever before, who are really into their religionand they are interested in how you feel about that. They love and consider their god to be exclusive. They dont believe your god is equal to theirs, and they dont care how that strikes you. Political correctness does not impress them. Their god does.

For those caught up in the busyness of work, family, and church, it often feels like time with God is just another thing on a crowded “to-do’ list. Ken explains how the time-tested spiritual practice of the “rule of life” can help bring busy people into a closer relationship with God. He shows how a personal rule of life can fit almost any vocation or life situation. In God in My Everything, you will discover how to create and practice a life-giving, sustainable rhythm in the midst of your demanding life. If you long for a deeper spirituality but often feel that the busyness of life makes a close relationship with God challenging—and, at times, seemingly impossible—this book is for you.

Book An Amazing God

    Book Details:
  • Author : Kent Mayeux
  • Publisher : Kent Mayeux Publishing, LLC
  • Release : 2013-12-07
  • ISBN : 098236492X
  • Pages : 188 pages

Download or read book An Amazing God written by Kent Mayeux and published by Kent Mayeux Publishing, LLC. This book was released on 2013-12-07 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ”An Amazing God” is not just another conversion story about how a sinner made a 180 degree turn on the wrong path travelled through life. In fact very little personal information is exposed. Rather this book is a compilation of the revealed knowledge of God learned through three years of active study of the Bible and numerous documents written since its composition. This book is a tool for a new evangelization. This book uses the book of Genesis as a general outline. A heavy emphasis on historical facts, figures and dates are used to confirm that God, as Jesus, walked this earth. Theological differences of the major religions are compared and contrasted especially Catholicism and the Protestant Reformists. The book’s main theme demonstrates the sole purpose of one’s life as a reunion of our soul with that of our creator at our earthly death. It explains the progression of the revealed truth to man both individually and as a society and how creation has progressed from redemption, to salvation to sanctification. The book addresses all areas of one’s life: social, political and spiritual. This book has an apologist’s flare with the ultimate goal of re-evangelizing those that have experienced God but have turned away from their religion. The book steps on the toes of those superficial professing Jews, Christians and Muslims and may present the realization that most are doomed to a painful and punishing eternity. How about you, can you tell me right now without a doubt, where your soul will reside for all of eternity when you die? Do you believe in resurrection? This book is unique in that it reveals how one achieves salvation and sanctification. It explains the transformational process by which one discards all vices and begins to live by the virtues through the power of the Holy Spirit. ”An Amazing God” should be considered a crucial self help book. With God in the forefront of your consciousness, you can begin your progression to perfection. The book will challenge those who profess a belief in God yet continue to live a life contrary to a serious faith life. The book is designed to demonstrate to atheists and believers alike that there is one, universal church established by Christ. More information can be found at http://www.newevangelization.net/.
