Book excerpt: God's Bad Boy is a rapidly pace biographical narrative that reads like a novel. In this powerful story of a child caught in a web of ineffective social service systems, lessons learned at an early age merge with critical insights as the boy grows into a man who addresses the needs of children. James Blake pulls off the masks and replaces lies with truths that point to the reform of policies that govern youth services agencies. This book is instructive to childcare providers whether they are parents, social workers, teachers or counselors; and it, at the same time, offers models of success for young people who have lost hope. God's Bad Boy alternately fills the reader with anguish and laughter, and ultimately, with hope for the future of our children.

In these honest, personal and uplifting meditations on 24 selected psalms, Courtney Reissig looks at emotions we all experience, ranging from shame, anxiety, and anger through to gratitude, hope, and joy. For each, she shows how the psalms give us permission to acknowledge how we feel before God, and how they can help us to use those feelings productively and faithfully. Book Why Suffering

  • Author : Ravi Zacharias
  • Publisher : FaithWords
  • Release : 2014-10-21
  • ISBN : 1455549711
  • Pages : 184 pages

Download or read book Why Suffering written by Ravi Zacharias and published by FaithWords. This book was released on 2014-10-21 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why would a loving and powerful God allow so much pain and suffering? In Why Suffering? Ravi Zacharias and Vince Vitale carefully walk you through a variety of responses that considered together provide a clear, comprehensive, and convincing answer. Responses like: Where there is the possibility of love, there has to be the reality of freedom, and therefore the possibility of pain. Wishing God had made a different world is to wish yourself out of existence. The cross is the key to a compelling and rational explanation for trusting in God in the face of suffering. In comparison with other world religions, the Christian response is highly distinctive. The reality of evil only makes sense in light of the reality of divine goodness. Relational knowledge about God takes the argument beyond reason to the presence of God amidst suffering. God's decision to allow temporal suffering is understandable when viewed from an eternal perspective. Divine goodness shows how to conquer not in spite of, but even through suffering. Here is a book written with great respect for the complexity of the issue, recognizing that some who read it will be in the trenches of deep suffering themselves and others questioning the very existence of a loving God. Why Suffering? provides an answer to the problem of pain and suffering with emotional sensitivity and intellectual integrity.

Book Good Things about Bad Boys

Download or read book Good Things about Bad Boys written by Wanda and published by Tate Pub & Enterprises Llc. This book was released on 2013-07 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One can hardly turn on the news (radio or television) without hearing about a new scandal, a new disgrace or dishonorable event surrounding the integrity and character of men in their personal and public lives. Is it any wonder that our young men and young ladies are often stumbling about with no real role models and guides to teach them how to live, how to be, how to exist in honor and respect. A few years ago, I began a journey exploring both the men and their episodes that I call, ?Bad Boys?. I found out that there are ?Good Things About Bad Boys?! Tucked quietly it seems in the Old Testament is a Bible Verse that declares, ?he that finds a wife, finds a good thing and obtains favor of the Lord?. Hmmmm?.does this mean what I think it means? Could it be true that God from the very beginning designed women to walk, live and exist along side ?bad boys?? And if so?we must consider that all women are first daughters, sisters, aunts, mothers, or even mentor/teachers and or grandmothers. These females not only can be ?the good things? about ?bad boys? but can help ?bad boys? become ?good boys? as they mature and develop. What compounds this syndrome? In these days the Bad Boys syndrome seems to be a growing phenomenon. It even seems that such behavior is becoming fashionable. People seem to be intrigued by rebel athletes, entertainers, and politicians. These provocative personalities can be found in the White House, Church House, Jail House, School House and Crack Houses across the land. In light of the horrific stories that fill the news and my own personal struggles with Good Men/Bad Boy situations, I decided to ask the Lord how I could minister to the needs of the men who fit this description, as well as bring understanding to the women who share their lives as wives, girlfriends, mothers, daughters, sisters, and coworkers. In her book, Good Things About Bad Boys, Dr. Wanda Davis-Turner explores what goes into making a ?bad boy? and how women everywhere can recognize a good man when they find one. Whether friend, boyfriend, coworker, or husband, by outlining the different behavioral and environmental factors that go into making a bad boy, she prepares readers to stand up for what they truly deserve and create relationships of all types that are full of good, and how those good men can create a society that is truly functional and uplifting for everyone. Who knows?the bad boy you help may end up your spouse, your employer, your best friend?etc.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How to live confidently for Jesus in today's world. The church used to be recognized as a force for good, but this is changing rapidly. Christians are now often seen as the bad guys, losing both respect and influence. In our post-Christian culture, how do we offer the gospel to those around us who view it as not only wrong but possibly dangerous? And how do we ensure that the secular worldview does not entice us away with its constant barrage, online and elsewhere, of messages about self-determinism? Author Stephen McAlpine offers an analysis of how our culture ended up this way and explains key points of tension between biblical Christianity and secular culture. He encourages Christians not to be ashamed of the gospel as it is more liberating, fulfilling and joyful than anything the world has to offer. He also offers strategies for coping in this world, with its opposing values, and for reaching out to others wisely with the truth.
