Book Interpretation of the Scripture

Download or read book Interpretation of the Scripture written by Arthur Pink and published by Darolt Books. This book was released on 2020-07-17 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Man is notoriously a creature of extremes, and nowhere is that fact more evident than in the attitude taken by different ones to this subject. According some have affirmed the Bible is written in such simple language that it calls for no explaining, a far greater number have suffered the papists to persuade them that its contents are so far above the grasp of the natural intellect, its subjects so profound and exalted , its language so abstruse and ambiguous that the common man is quite incapable of understanding it by his own efforts, and therefore that it is the part of wisdom for him to submit his judgment to "holy mother church," who brazenly claims to be the only Divinely authorized and qualified interpreter of God's oracles. Thus does the Papacy withhold God's Word from the laity, and impose her own dogmas and superstitions upon them. For the most part the laity are quite content to have it so, for therefore they are relieved of searching the Scriptures for themselves. Nor is it much better with many Protestants, for in most cases they are too indolent to study the Bible for themselves, and believe only what they hear from the pulpits. The main passage appealed to by Romanists in an attempt to bolster up their pernicious contention that the Bible is a dangerous bookbecause of its alleged obscurityto place in the hands of the common people is Peter 3:15, 16. Therein the Holy Spirit has told us that the apostle Paul, according to the wisdom given him, spoke in his epistles of "some things hard to be understood, which they are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction. " But as Calvin long ago pointed out, "We are not forbidden to read Paul's epistles because they contain some things difficult to be understood, but that, on the contrary, they are commended to us, providing we have a calm and teachable mind." It is also to be noted that this verse says "some things" and not "many," and that they are "hard" and not "incapable of being understood"! Moreover, the obscurity is not in them, but in the depravity of our nature which resists the holy requirements of God, and the pride of our hearts which disdains seeking enlightenment from Him. The "unlearned" here refers not to illiteracy, but to being untaught of God; and the "unstable" are those with no settled convictions, who, like weathervanes, turn according to whatever wind of doctrine blows upon them. This important book by Arthur Pink tells us about the importance of interpreting the scriptures and leads us to meditate on the Word of God. A text based entirely on the Holy Bible.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God Interpreters: No Love Lost in Translation is a book that is pragmatic, innovative, and instructional. Using biblical concepts, it makes the unseen realm both visible and tangible. In this book, you are invited to get to know the Holy Spirit as a person, not an impersonal force but rather a friend, comforter, counselor, guide, teacher, and constant helper. Mathias shares what he calls the “sequence of three.” The first is to recognize God’s voice, then to understand what He is saying, and then how to respond to His voice. There is always a responsibility that comes with responding to His voice. In John 10:27, it says, “My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me.” Part of God knowing us is also knowing how He speaks to us so we can understand Him and understand His voice. A voice is the sound that communicates the content of a language. Language has four primary ways to communicate with us: verbal, nonverbal, written, and visual. God’s language is expressed in all of these ways. As we experience an increase in revelation being poured out in these days (Acts 2), we will also be experiencing the sequence of three in prophetic revelation: godly revelation, soulish prophecy, and false prophecy. God Interpreters: No Love Lost in Translation will give practical insight and a wisdom perspective on the Office of the Prophet, the seven-mountain mandate, how to function in the marketplace, prophecy and healing in the workplace, and manifesting the invisible God. The questions for reflection at the end of each chapter enable you to think through the content and will benefit those who take the time to contemplate them. —Aaron and Jill-Marie Evans, The Emerging Daniel Company Int’l

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite using them every day, most software engineers know little about how programming languages are designed and implemented. For many, their only experience with that corner of computer science was a terrifying "compilers" class that they suffered through in undergrad and tried to blot from their memory as soon as they had scribbled their last NFA to DFA conversion on the final exam. That fearsome reputation belies a field that is rich with useful techniques and not so difficult as some of its practitioners might have you believe. A better understanding of how programming languages are built will make you a stronger software engineer and teach you concepts and data structures you'll use the rest of your coding days. You might even have fun. This book teaches you everything you need to know to implement a full-featured, efficient scripting language. You'll learn both high-level concepts around parsing and semantics and gritty details like bytecode representation and garbage collection. Your brain will light up with new ideas, and your hands will get dirty and calloused. Starting from main(), you will build a language that features rich syntax, dynamic typing, garbage collection, lexical scope, first-class functions, closures, classes, and inheritance. All packed into a few thousand lines of clean, fast code that you thoroughly understand because you wrote each one yourself.

Book excerpt: A profound exploration of how to hold on to hope when our unchanging faith collides with a changing culture, from two respected Christian storytellers and thought leaders. “Offers neither spin control nor image maintenance for the evangelical tribe, but genuine hope.”—Russell Moore, president of ERLC As the pressures of health warnings, economic turmoil, and partisan politics continue to rise, the influence of gospel-focused Christians seems to be waning. In the public square and popular opinion, we are losing our voice right when it’s needed most for Christ’s glory and the common good. But there’s another story unfolding too—if you know where to look. In Gospelbound, Collin Hansen and Sarah Eekhoff Zylstra counter these growing fears with a robust message of resolute hope for anyone hungry for good news. Join them in exploring profound stories of Christians who are quietly changing the world in the name of Jesus—from the wild world of digital media to the stories of ancient saints and unsung contemporary activists on the frontiers of justice and mercy. Discover how, in these dark times, the light of Jesus shines even brighter. You haven’t heard the whole story. And that’s good news.

Book God On Assignment As You

Download or read book God On Assignment As You written by David D. D. Hulse and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2013 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: GOD ON ASSIGNMENT AS YOU DAVID HULSE, D.D. "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience." -Pierre Teilhard de Chardin I realize that this book may not be for everyone at this time. However, it is necessary to challenge the sensibilities of man-made traditions, which have made the word of present truth of no effect to this generation. I invite you to listen to your own inner Christ intelligence which is able to lead you to your truth, rather than listening to the feeble attempts of dogmatic voices who are only plunging us into the depths of unanswered questions. If you are in the process of re-examining old childhood beliefs and have realized there has to be a "more excellent way," this book is for you. With this in mind, I invite you to open your minds and your hearts to this great process of incarnation, when an adventurous playful Creator chose to experience and play the game of humanity with all of its diversity. My premise is that a Creator could not create anything less than itself as that would result in pity. Creating anything greater than itself would result in admiration. Only creating that which is equal results in love! You are the creator experiencing the richness of this human journey. You are god on assignment! "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God." -Phil. 2:5-6 KJV

Arthur Walkington Pink was an English Christian evangelist and Biblical scholar known for his staunchly Calvinist and Puritan-like teachings. Though born to Christian parents, prior to conversion he migrated into a Theosophical society (an occult gnostic group popular in England during that time), and quickly rose in prominence within their ranks. His conversion came from his father's patient admonitions from Scripture. It was the verse, Proverbs 14:12, 'there is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death, ' which particularly struck his heart and compelled him to renounce Theosophy and follow Jesus.
