Download or read book God Divinity the Universe and Humankind written by R. F. M. and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2010-10 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who are we? Where do we come from? What is our destiny? In God, Divinity, the Universe, and Humankind, author R.F.M. addresses these questions and more, sharing his interpretations and reflections of an array of ideas related to human existence and destiny. Drawing on religious insights, R.F.M. provides many examples to provide a guide for those seeking wisdom about their life, their existence, their spiritual journey, and their destiny. God, Divinity, the Universe, and Humankind explores the doubts and perplexities humans have experienced throughout history and discusses how to find new understanding and guidance. This exploration of spirituality presents a psychiatrist's thoughts on the creation of the universe, our relatedness to God and to divinity, and the importance of faith in our life. It communicates the idea that in the whole orchestration of the universe, we are only the instruments; God is the composer, the conductor, and the player. We should surrender to Him in union and oneness in our spiritual origin and nature, for we all are the same from Him and all shall return in Him.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When humanity questions the purpose of existence, they often turn to science or religion for answers. Unfortunately, both science and religion contain inconsistencies. These inconsistencies touch the human spirit in the most profound ways, resulting in an uneasiness about life. "Do I really have a purpose?" Seeking to address the spiritual unease, the history of humanity documents the development and pursuit of religion with a concept of a divine creator with a plan for humanity. However, in more recent history with an increasing emphasis on scientific knowledge, the concept of a divine creator is increasingly discounted as inconsistent with the material world revealed by scientific discovery. Via the scientific method, humanity is turning its focus to the material world, creating new gods of science and the purveyors of scientific knowledge. But rather than provide definitive answers, as science continues to advance, the theories of creation point increasingly to inconclusive and inconsistent results. These shortcomings of science are often veiled in the expression "Someday, we will know," but many in the scientific community are beginning to question that hope. With science and religion each plagued with inconsistency, perhaps appropriately integrating them will lead us to the real answers we seek! The Model of Everything-A Divine Universe relies on both scientific and biblical knowledge to fully integrate science and religion in a consistent, complementary, and interdependent fashion. This confluence and synergy of knowledge reveal a comprehensive model that accounts for the totality of human existence-the physical and spiritual. The reader, via personal and straightforward experiments, participates in developing the model. Biblical knowledge is the pointer for a unique application of scientific knowledge. Then, the incredible and sometimes bizarre world of science reveals how God teaches us about our existence and spirituality. The integration of scientific and biblical knowledge results in several new mental constructs, providing an account for the totality of creation-the material and immaterial-and a genuine hope and understanding of personal existence. The model presents some eye-popping implications and applications as well as predictions on future scientific progress and outcomes. Each reader is invited and encouraged to become a scientist; a scientist prepared to chart a life-changing personal discovery.

Book excerpt: Author Anna M. Madsen's book is a fresh and challenging look at the legacy of Martin Luther and the new reformation that is calling people of faith to action today. This book is born out of the conviction that at least two gods are currently competing for our collective trust: nationalism (and its many sub-manifestations) and quietism. Both make a case for and a claim on our allegiance, each by way of different motivations of self and institutional protection. Madsen looks at today's modern context and asks: Where will the church stand in a day that is marked by globalization, polarization, racism, bigotry, and debates about justice for humanity and for the earth itself. While the Reformation church was built on the foundation of justification by grace, Madsen calls people of faith to a new reformation that will focus on standing for justice in the world. Madsen delves into who Jesus was, and how our claim that he died and was raised establishes our faith and impacts the way we live it out. She pays attention to Luther's theology and juxtaposes it with our present context. She explores recent examples of Nazi resistance, liberation theology, black and womanist theology, and feminist theology, each of which come at social justice in their unique ways, with a common conviction that justice work is central to the Christian life. She speaks of how our faith grounding and our faith history weave together and entwine themselves into our present moment, offering both warnings and encouragement. And last, a case is made that justice, anchored in justification, is our new Reformation moment, one not inconsistent with Luther's theology, but weighted differently to address the different weighty concerns of our day. A study guide is included to encourage group conversation and action.

Book God and the History of the Universe

Download or read book God and the History of the Universe written by Jarvis Streeter and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2016-03-22 with total page 559 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The popular belief that a scientific understanding of reality is incompatible with a Christian one is simply wrong. Some Christian understandings of reality do conflict with some scientific understandings. But a thoroughly rational Christian understanding of the origin and history of the universe will be informed by the best scientific theories and the "facts" founded on them. This book weaves a narrative of the origin and history of the universe from the perspective of contemporary science with a Christian understanding of God and of God's role in the origin and history of the universe. At the center of this integrated narrative is the view that God, who is pure, unbounded Love, is Creator: the zest for life in the universe comes from God, and God is the source of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness in the universe. God is amazed and delighted at what God-and-the-world has created; God is saddened by ways creatures have fallen short of pure, unbounded Love, Truth, Beauty, and Goodness; and God's pure, unbounded Love keeps on trying to persuade all creatures toward Truth, Beauty, and Goodness.

Book The Secrets of Humankind by Divine Design the Gateway to Mindfulness and Self awareness Spiritual warfare series book 2

Download or read book The Secrets of Humankind by Divine Design the Gateway to Mindfulness and Self awareness Spiritual warfare series book 2 written by Eleazar Ben Michael and published by Eleazar publishing. This book was released on 2022-03-06 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many have been puzzled for centuries at the biological creature that science calls homo sapience (humankind). Most people often question what constitutes man’s true spiritual nature, which is invisible to our sense of sight. There is the quest to know what constitutes the mind, consciousness, the soul, and the essence of our spirit-soul personality. Many still believe that there may be no definitive answers which will provide the necessary satisfaction about this incorporeal essence of the soul and life of humanity. But how come God made humans the most advanced biological rational beings on the earth plane? Our modern sciences have tried to resolve this great mystery, and they have only successfully unveiled the mortal body(the outer self) but yet to understand the inner spiritual nature. The psalmist David wrote many centuries ago, asking the same significant question that has plagued humanity throughout time. As King David reflected upon this unique being (humanity), he asked this central question: What is man [humankind] that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you cared for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honour. (Psalm 8:4-5. ESV) How is he a spiritual being imprisoned in flesh and bones with skin on the outside? How does his soul consciousness work in harmony with his body and mind? You may be asking if we are a soul as an entity or as a material object that we could carry around. How does man’s inner spiritual body help him to relate to the material universe? This book is the second book in the soul trilogy series, and it is a must-read resource on the subject of spirituality, mindfulness, and the nature of the inner human spirit Soul. It hopes to guide readers to discover the mystery of the inner self and its relationship to the spirit world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fully Human-Fully Divine: Integral Dynamic Monotheism, a Meeting Point between the Vedic Vision and the Vision of Christ is the latest book of John Martin Sahajananda. This books deals with finding the answer to the fundamental question: Who are human beings? He looks for the answer to this basic question in two categories of spiritual traditions, viz., prophetic tradition and wisdom tradition. The wisdom tradition seems to focus on our oneness with God and the prophetic tradition on our humanness. He proposes a view that integrates these two views in an inclusive way. We are fully human and also fully divine. He looks at spiritual life as a dynamic process of evolution in relationship with God. This process he describes as Integral Dynamic Monotheism. In the second part of the book, he explains to us about similarities between the spiritual awakening and spiritual evolution in the Vedic tradition and the biblical tradition. He shows how close these great traditions can come, and when they come close together, they realize what they need from one another to make them richer and fuller. Thus he says that the challenge of Upanishadic tradition to Christianity is to open the nondualistic experience of Jesus, which is the radical love of God for all the Christians. In the same way, the challenge of Christ to the Vedic tradition is to translate its nondualistic wisdom of God, which is the radical love of God, into nondualistic action and social transformation that is the radical love of ones neighbor.

Book Asceticism and Anthropology in Irenaeus and Clement

Download or read book Asceticism and Anthropology in Irenaeus and Clement written by John Behr and published by Oxford Early Christian Studies. This book was released on 2000 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Asceticism and Anthropology in Irenaeus and Clement examines the ways in which Irenaeus and Clement understood what it means to be human. By exploring these writings from within their own theological perspectives, John Behr also offers a theological critique of the prevailing approach to the asceticism of Late Antiquity. Writing before monasticism became the dominant paradigm of Christian asceticism, Irenaeus and Clement afford fascinating glimpses of alternative approaches. For Irenaeus, asceticism is the expression of man living the life of God in all dimensions of the body, that which is most characteristically human and in the image of God. Human existence as a physical being includes sexuality as a permanent part of the framework within which males and females grow towards God. In contrast, Clement depicts asceticism as man's attempt at a godlike life to protect the rational element, that which is distinctively human and in the image of God, from any possible disturbance and threat, or from the vulnerability of dependency, especially of a physical or sexual nature. Here human sexuality is strictly limited by the finality of procreation and abandoned in the resurrection. By paying careful attention to these two writers, Behr offers challenging material for the continuing task of understanding ourselves as human beings.

Book excerpt: In this unique volume, a new and distinctive perspective on hotly debated issues in science and religion emerges from the unlikely ancient Eastern Orthodox Christian tradition. Alexei Nesteruk reveals how the Orthodox tradition, deeply rooted in Greek Patristic thought, can contribute importantly in a way that the usual Western sources do not. Orthodox thought, he holds, profoundly and helpfully relates the experience of God to our knowledge of the world. His masterful historical introduction to the Orthodox traditions not only surveys key features of its theology but highlights its ontology of participation and communion. From this Nesteruk derives Orthodoxy's unique approach to theological and scientific attribution. Theology identifies the underlying principles (logoi) in scientific affirmations. Nesteruk then applies this methodology to key issues in cosmology: the presence of the divine in creation, the theological meaning of models of creation, the problem of time, and the validity of the anthropic principle, especially as it relates to the emergence of humans and the Incarnation. Nesteruk's unique synthesis is not a valorization of Eastern Orthodox thought so much as an influx of startlingly fresh ideas about the character of science itself and an affirmation of the ultimate religious and theological value of the whole scientific enterprise.
