Book God Carried Me through My Addiction

Download or read book God Carried Me through My Addiction written by Carl Powell and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-10-11 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chemical addictions not only affect the life of the addicted one, but it has been said that a person's addiction affect the lives of at least fourteen more people. This can easily be seen when we look at the addicted one having parents, children, siblings, cousins, bosses, coworkers, and friends. All love and care for the addicted person in their lives can easily become an enabler to the addicted because of the love for them. In more cases than not, the person attempting to help starts suffering from codependency if they don't get help and education on chemical addictions. Addictions not only affect lives but destroy them because addictions produce a sinful lifestyle that separates the suffering from God. The Bible and the twelve steps to recovery are the solutions for the addicted and the codependent.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We all have "messes" in our lives. Some are big ones, and some are small ones. Some we make with our choices, some are made for us by others or by sickness. This book is the result of the "mess" I created with my sin. I found my life turned upside down. I was locked up in prison without my freedom, I disgraced my family, I drove my friends away, and I had lost my job. I hit bottom, and I finally realized that I needed a savior. I cried out to God to take back control over my life. Once I did that, I needed a place to start, and God lead me straight to His word. The devotions you will find on the pages of this book are the very words God gave me, as He gave them to me. They are His messages of hope and salvation to a hurting child that He loves. He carried me through that season of my life. No matter what it is you are going through in your life, as you read the pages of this book, you will feel the overwhelming love and care Jesus has for you. Day after day, the words He shares with you will heal you and clean up those messes you made by doing it without Him. God will get so much glory as we walk together watching Him turn your messes into His messages. He did it for me, I Know He will do it for you too.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It was then that he carried me, is about the many trials faced while being someone looked at as different in today's society. A child burned at the age of three months old having to go through life seeing more hospitals than the normal child. Later in life dealing with the many issues any normal person without scars have dealt with in their lives. Financial difficulties, marital issues, and yet holding on to faith in God. Through much prayer and strong belief you can conquer anything that comes up against you. This will help you in prayer and much struggling in the physical, mental and spiritual realm. I pray that you enjoy this and find that what I have written you can relate to and heal from. It was then that he carried me shows you that while I was stirring around in my mess, blessings was knocking at the door, deliverance was waiting to carry me through the dark days, healing was curing all that ailed me, and God never left me alone. He allowed my enemies to be my foot stool. Remember many of those who yell out ABBA FATHER are not really seeking his presence, they sometimes want his glory for themselves and that includes what you accomplish for yourself. Many who say they want you to succeed really want to see you fail thats why I stand on God's word at all times. God will never fail you; man will.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The astonishing, Job-like story of how an existence filled with loss, suffering, questioning, and anger became a life filled with shocking and incomprehensible peace and joy. Vaneetha Risner contracted polio as an infant, was misdiagnosed, and lived with widespread paralysis. She lived in and out of the hospital for ten years and, after each stay, would return to a life filled with bullying. When she became a Christian, though, she thought things would get easier, and they did: carefree college days, a dream job in Boston, and an MBA from Stanford where she met and married a classmate. But life unraveled. Again. She had four miscarriages. Her son died because of a doctor's mistake. And Vaneetha was diagnosed with post-polio syndrome, meaning she would likely become a quadriplegic. And then her husband betrayed her and moved out, leaving her to raise two adolescent daughters alone. This was not the abundant life she thought God had promised her. But, as Vaneetha discovered, everything she experienced was designed to draw her closer to Christ as she discovered "that intimacy with God in suffering can be breathtakingly beautiful."

Book excerpt: A Gospel-Rich, Reproducible Model for Making Disciples as Jesus Intended Biblical discipleship emphasizes encouragement, repentance, and spiritual growth—essential parts of the Christian life. However, well-meaning believers often struggle to follow Jesus, unaware their views are too legalistic, licentious, or individualistic. How can churches and Christians develop a healthy, successful path to disciple-making? In this second edition of Gospel-Centered Discipleship, Jonathan Dodson presents an effective, Spirit-led model for sanctification. Reminding readers that real discipleship is imperfect yet transformational, Dodson encourages Christians to engage more authentically with others as they grow in faith. Drawing from his own failures and successes while following Jesus, Dodson defines discipleship, describes the heart of a disciple, and gives practical guidance for mentor and peer-based discipleship as Jesus intended. Revised and Expanded: Includes three new chapters and new illustrations Applicable: Shows how discipleship can be practical and gospel-centered Theological: Addresses the Holy Spirit's involvement in discipleship Foreword by Matt Chandler: Author of The Explicit Gospel

Book Rx for Waiting

Download or read book Rx for Waiting written by Erika Washington and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-11-29 with total page 85 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8) I picked these verses to begin the ceremony of my wedding in 2007. In 2015, I found myself wishing those verses said a time to heal no more than one month, a time to break down no longer than three months, and a time to build up no longer than a year! A time to weep no more than a week. A time to mourn no longer than six months, but they don't. There are no time guidelines or limits. It just says there is a time and a purpose for everything. I was divorced and filled with questions about waiting, finding Mr. Right, and the next steps in my life. People told me to wait, and God would bring someone into my life. They gave me scripture and advice like "Wait, and when you least expect it, he'll appear." I wondered if they thought I was waiting on Casper. Oh, and I didn't want to wait. The advice was discouraging and contradictory. I was tired of being told to wait, but no one was able to tell me what to do while I waited. So I revisited a love study that I had completed before my divorce. I found that it provided some answers on real love, waiting and what to do while you're waiting. Some of the answers were difficult, and action was required on my part. It has been an emotional roller coaster, but the hope that it has brought into my life made the risk of change worthwhile. If you are waiting, preparing for marriage, in relationship turmoil, or starting over, you are not alone! I hope you can find some encouragement in Rx for Waiting.
