Download or read book Tungsten written by Erik Lassner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why does someone write a book about Tungsten? There are several reasons and precedents for this, the most important of which is that the last book on tungsten was written more than 20 years ago, in 1977, by St. W H. Yih and Ch T. Wang. During the intervening period there have been many new scientific and technological developments and innova tions, so it was not only our opinion but the view of many other members of the "tungsten family" that it was time to start writing a new book about tungsten. Preparations of the new book began in 1994. further impetus to the project was provided by the realization that in spite of this new knowledge having been presented at seminars or published in the technical press, a general acknowledgement of it by the majority of technicians and scientists is still far from being realized. It is our hope that this book will significantly contribute to a broader acceptance of recent scientific and technological innovations. An important prerequisite for such a project is the availability of a recently retired, experienced person willing to devote his time and talents to the tedious part of the exercise.

This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This third volume of the Supplement Series supplying the Main Volumes of the series "Perfluorohalogenoorgano Compounds of Main Group Elements", Part 1 to 9, completes the treatment of the compounds of the Main Group VI elements. It covers sulfur(IV) compounds, sulfonic acids, sulfonic anhydrides, and sulfonates, sulfur(VI) oxides, sulfonyl nitrogen compounds, sulfonyl halides, sulfur(VI) halides, and the compounds of selenium and tellurium. It also includes the perfluorohalogenoorgano compounds of iodine in oxidation states higher than one and contains a formula index for the Supplement Volumes 1, 2, and 3. The Supplement Series will be concluded by the description of the nitrogen compounds. Concept, organization, and selection as to the coverage of the material are the same as in the Main Volumes. Title compounds are newly synthesized ones as well as those compounds already referred to in the Main Volumes and for which new facts have been published. Conventions as to the presentation of the data are given in the prefaces of the Main Volumes. In contrast to the convention for NMR chemical shifts used previously, chemical shifts downfield from the standard are designated as positive, according to the recommendations of the IUPAC Commission on Molecular Structure and Spectroscopy (Pure and Applied Chemistry 29 [1972]625/8, 45 [1976] 217/9). I wish to thank Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. E. Fluck and his co-workers for their excellent cooperation. I also wish to take the opportunity to express my appreciation to colleagues who assisted me by providing reprints and patents.

Book Ga Organogallium Compounds

Download or read book Ga Organogallium Compounds written by and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 530 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume describes all organogallium compounds, i.e., compounds containing at least one gallium-carbon bond. It covers the literature completely.to the end of 1984 and includes many references to the literature up to the end of 1985. The organic chemistry of gallium is largely dominated by compounds of the types GaR3 (Chapter 1), GaR X _ (Chapters 2 to 12), and M[GaRnX4_nl (M = cation, Chapter 13), where X n 3 n stands for a non-carbon atom or any organic or organometallic group bonded to gallium through a non-carbon atom. The arrangement of GaR X - and M[GaRnX"_nlcompounds by n 3 n the kind of Ga-X bond is evident from the table of contents on pp. XI to XIV. The extensive use of pyrazolyl-containing organogallium anions as polydentate donor ligands in transition metal compounds resulted in a particularly voluminous chapter on anions with Ga-N bonds (13.6). The volume is concluded by a few low-valence organogallium compounds (Chapter 14) that (I) atom and an aromatic ligand in an TJe fashion. exhibit bonding interaction between a gallium Due to a free coordination site at the Ga atom, neutral compounds form many adducts with Lewis bases (symbol D). These adducts are described along with the parent substances either in a subsection of the respective chapter or in a common table at the end of the table.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Astatine is - besides radon and francium - the only natural radioelement which only has short-Lived isotopes, thereby excluding experiments with . . weighable" amounts of the element. This implies that all available data on physics and chemistry of this element are 12 16 based on experiments on the tracer scale with 10- to 10- g - and this will also not change in future because no longer-Lived isotopes as yet known are to be expected. Due to the fact that the only isotope of At occurring in the natural decay series, 219At, results from the 0. 005% a-branching of 223Fr which itself is produced by the only 1. 38% a-branching of 227 Ac - a member of the 235U series - there is no chance to recover substantial amounts of 219At from natural sources for sCientific research of At. All studies, therefore, are being done with the isotopes 209At to 211At having half-lives in the few hours region and being obtained by irradiation of bismuth with a-particles via (a,xn) reactions or by proton irradiation of heavy elements via spallation reactions. The mostly used isotope is 7. 22 h 211At. The fast separation of the obtained At isotopes is no very difficult procedure and is either being done by wet adsorption-precipitation techniques or making use of its high volatility by destilling in air.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume continues the edition of a number of supplement volumes dealing with the elements tungsten and molybdenum. The compounds of molybdenum with noble gases, hydrogen and oxygen, anhydrous antimony-, bismuth- and alkalimolybdates as well as compounds of molybdenum oxides with oxides of other metals have been described in volume B 1 and B 2. The oxide hydrates and the molybdate ions are dealt with in volume B 3a. The volume molybdenum supplement B 4 contains the hydrous oxocompounds of the metals Sb to Cr with molybdenum. Description of the element molybdenum is covered by the supplement volumes A 1, A 2a, A 2b and A3. In the first part of this volume the description of the oxomolybdenum (VI) species in aqueous solution, which was started in the "Molybdenum" Supplement Volume B 3a, 1987, is continued and completed with the Section on the chemical reactions. After a general overview on the chemical properties of the molybdate ions in aqueous solution, the typical reactions are treated in separate chapters, e.g., reduction, precipitation, formation of heteropolymolybdate ions, reactions with organic ligands, etc. The second part of this volume deals with the oxomolybdenum (VI) species in nonaqueous (organic) solvents. Most of the polymeric species are different from those occurring in aqueous media. The last Section on the oxospecies in solution describes the species in melts such as alkali chlorides, nitrates, and chromates. Finally, the peroxomolybdate ions are treated in a separate Section.

Download or read book Rh Rhodium written by G.R. Watts and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The volume contains two pure parts. The first one describes the properties of the metal: crystallographic properties, self-diffusion, and mechanical, thermal, electrical, and magnetic properties. The descriptions of its electrochemical behavior and chemical reactions conclude this part and, for elemental rhodium, close the gap left by the comprehensive chapters on platinum group metals, atoms, ions, and molecules in Platinum Supplement Volumes A1 and A2. The second part of this volume deals with the physical and chemical properties of rhodium alloys. Phase diagrams of a large number of binary and multicomponent systems are treated in detail as well as crystallographic and other properties of many intermetallic compounds. There is obviously a great deal of interest in the magnetic properties and possible superconductivity of many Rh-containing intermetallic phases.
