Book excerpt: A wickedly funny, full-color, illustrated sendup of the trendy lifestyle publication GOOP. What is Glop? Glop is a business and a website. But Glop is also a feeling. It’s about picking the right expensive organic eye cream that will make you fit seamlessly into the top tiers of high society and sits next to Bono at a 42-course seitan tasting dinner held in a sex dungeon deep beneath the North Pole. Glop is about being conscious to the tiny details of our lives—what to eat, where to buy your cashmere yoga pants, which juice cleanse will remove the most mercury toxins from both your body and your cashmere yoga pants. Glop is about you. In this scathingly humorous parody, Gabrielle Moss skewers the vanity, elitism, and silliness of the lifestyle website everyone loves to hate. Here are favorite recipes, detoxes, activities, cleanses, beauty tips, juice cleanses, vacation destinations, and a selection of hand creams that will open your third eye—plus lots of celebrity namedropping and more. Glop includes everything from the silly to sublime—make-at-home stem cell moisturizing repair masques, weekend colonics, restorative yoga poses (for when Sting is mad at you about that thing you did), and even the freshest bones for your bone broth. Here, too, are G’s essential tips on parenthood, relationships, work and finances, entertaining, food (well, maybe not food), spirituality, beauty, fashion, home, gifts, kids, and more. Nothing in Glop is sacred—except for a few Indian cows you can’t afford.

Book The Ability of Young Children to Distinguish Between Morality and Convention

Download or read book The Ability of Young Children to Distinguish Between Morality and Convention written by Jörg Böttcher and published by diplom.de. This book was released on 2002-12-13 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Abstract: In this diploma thesis I want to consider several approaches in the area of moral development research. Given the theory of Lawrence Kohlberg, young [...]

AIED2009 focuses on the theme "Building learning systems that care: from knowledge representation to affective modelling". The key research question is how to tackle the complex issues related to building learning systems that care, ranging from representing knowledge and context to modelling social, cognitive, metacognitive, and affective dimensions. This requires multidisciplinary research that links theory and technology from artificial intelligence, cognitive science, and computer science with theory and practice from education and the social sciences.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Subject A little explanation is in order for our choice of the title Linear Opti- 1 mization (and corresponding terminology) for what has traditionally been called Linear Programming.Theword programming in this context can be confusing and/or misleading to students. Linear programming problems are referred to as optimization problems but the general term linear p- gramming remains. This can cause people unfamiliar with the subject to think that it is about programming in the sense of writing computer code. It isn’t. This workbook is about the beautiful mathematics underlying the ideas of optimizing linear functions subject to linear constraints and the algorithms to solve such problems. In particular, much of what we d- cuss is the mathematics of Simplex Algorithm for solving such problems, developed by George Dantzig in the late 1940s. The word program in linear programming is a historical artifact. When Dantzig ?rstdevelopedthe Simplex Algorithm to solvewhat arenowcalled linear programming problems, his initial model was a class of resource - location problems to be solved for the U.S. Air Force. The decisions about theallocationswerecalled‘Programs’bytheAirForce, andhencetheterm.

Well Dear Readers, we have arrived at that point in Laney's education where all students of all persuasions must join forces to survive Science Fair! Gasp! What could be worse than preparing for Science Fair when you have no idea what to do? A whole group of students preparing for Science Fair who don't know what to do, that's what. In this case, however, there is a lesser-known aspect of Science Fair at the high school filled with exceptionally gifted teens No Holds Barred day. No Holds Barred day only arises once every five years, and this is the fifth year. So the students get to use their powers however they want. Laney and her friends want to leave what most students want to leave a legacy which has more to it than inventing glow-in-the-dark stain removal stuff. As things happen, the project goes awry and leads to a daisy-chain of events getting more and more discombobulated, until their project meets its end, sort of. Imagine what the teachers must be thinking. Imagine what the students must be thinking. Imagine what Ms. Galardi must have been thinking. She goes from writing a thrilling story about love, loss, trust, getting up after defeat, being who you are, and a harrowing and emotional whirlwind adventure on another planet to writing about Science Fair. But after all, academics are important, aren't they? (Just say yes.) Does she know something you don't? If she doesn't there is no reason for you to read this book. But she does, and you will know too. Just read the book and see for yourself. By the way, you may never look at your teachers the same way again. (Do any of your teachers think he or she is a werewolf?) Welcome to Judi Galardi's THRAE BACK ATCHA! where Science Fair isn't the only extravaganza, but it sure comes close. After all, scientific discoveries usually start with an idea, or a mistake...
