Book excerpt: From globalization to the digital revolution, secularization to the great recession, change has never happened so fast and wide and deep as we have seen in recent years. The nature of information and the speed with which it travels is unparalleled, and it is changing our world in seismic ways that reach into every crevice of our lives. It's as if the tectonic plates of society and culture are being torn apart and reshaped right under our feet. We are living through a cultural "GLOBEQUAKE." How should we respond as families? In business? Through our churches? With the hope and stability found not on this shifting ground but in the one who created the heavens and earth, says pastor and best-selling author Wallace Henley. Drawing from his experiences in politics and journalism plus his deep biblical knowledge, Henley's analysis is clear, insightful, and thought provoking. There is no alarmist agenda here. Globequake is a well-reasoned guide to navigating the spheres of our lives in a godly manner, even as those spheres wobble on their axes. "Globequake looks at current events and puts them in the context of the larger prophetic picture." ?Cal Thomas, syndicated and USA Today columnist, and Fox News contributor.

Book excerpt: For years, tourists have trekked across cracked rock at Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano to witness the awe-inspiring sight of creeping lava and its devastating effects on the landscape. In 2010, Eyjafjallajökull erupted in Iceland, stranding travelers as a cloud of ash covered western and northern Europe, causing the largest disruption of air travel since World War II. And just a few months later, Mount Merapi blew in Indonesia, killing over 350 people and displacing over 350,000 others, awakening people once more to the dangerous potential of these sleeping giants. Though today largely dormant, volcanoes continue to erupt across the world, reminding us of their sheer physical power. In Volcano, James Hamilton explores the cultural history generated by the violence and terrifying beauty of volcanoes. He describes the reverberations of early eruptions of Vesuvius and Etna in Greek and Roman myth. He also examines the depiction of volcanoes in art—from the earliest known wall painting of an erupting volcano in 6200 BCE to the distinctive colors of Andy Warhol and Michael Sandle’s exploding mountains. Surveying a number of twenty-first-century works, Hamilton shows that volcanoes continue to influence the artistic imagination. Combining established figures such as Joseph Wright and J. M. W. Turner with previously unseen perspectives, this richly illustrated book will appeal to anyone interested in science as well as the cultural impact of these spectacular natural features.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With increased globalization and modernization reaching into the furthest corners of the earth also comes the influence of secularization. These three tides of influence impact traditional religious beliefs, practices, and institutions in significant ways. Some modernizing societies see religion on the decline, while others find it thriving in surprising ways. This collection of essays presents the opportunities and the challenges of secularization for the mission of the Church, with hopeful signs and reassurance that God is still at work in a secularizing world. Readers will find both analysis and guidance that will assist the Church in an informed, missional engagement with secularization in a variety of contexts—starting with North America, then Europe, Asia, and Africa. Each local church and mission organization must discern the appropriate missional response for evangelism, discipleship, congregational life, and social involvement. To be Against the Tide means regaining your voice, as a church on mission, informed by your context and inspired by the responses of others in theirs.

Book Your First Step in Heaven

Download or read book Your First Step in Heaven written by Wallace Henley and published by XinXii. This book was released on 2020-03-31 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What happens to us when the line goes flat? Cardiologists can tell us what happens to the heart at death. Neurologists have extensive knowledge about what occurs in the brain and central nervous system at the moment we die. But what happens to our consciousness? There is much evidence that awareness continues. The Bible tells us exactly what happens when we die. As you read this book you will discover the amazing equipoise of death-the delicate equilibrium between the ‘not yet’ and ‘now’ of the new body and the new spirit-soul. For the person in Christ death is not a passage into gloom and uncertainty, but is like arriving at the crest of a great mountain after a long climb through whirling storms and tearing winds, and basking in the brilliant radiance at the top. The mere existence of bios-life locked inside a deteriorating, decaying body is released into the purity of being which is the Zoe-Life Adam and Eve knew before the fall into sin and death, and won back for us by Jesus’ sacrifice of Himself on the cross and His amazing resurrection. If you are fearful of death, or still feeling sting of bereavement, or desiring to give comfort and hope to others who have experienced loss, this book will be a source of assurance, comfort, hope, and peace as in page after page it brings together the profound truths of Scripture and takes you on an exhilarating exploration of their rich detail. * Are we disembodied spirits floating in heavenly space, or do we receive the new body immediately upon dying? * How does the human psyche function in Heaven? * What is the nature of our new minds, souls, and wills in Heaven? * Whom will we see and know on our first step in Heaven? * What about those we don’t see? Will we grieve for them? And if so, how can Heaven be a place of no tears and weeping? * Just how ‘special’ is the place ‘prepared for you’?

Book excerpt: God Is Up to Something Big The Bible dedicates more space to prophecy than to any other subject. These prophetic portions of Scripture have received an enormous amount of literary attention throughout the history of the church. Over the past fifty years alone countless books have been written about the biggest global trends of our day and whether they are signs of the coming end times. But one sign has been inexplicably neglected—revival. Wallace Henley believes such a spiritual awakening is not only possible today but probable—and likely a harbinger of the end times. Where are we on the timeline of human history? Are we approaching the rapture of the church? Henley presents a meticulously researched and compelling case that the Welsh Revival and the historical cycle revealed in God’s redemptive interactions with nations, make it highly likely that our contemporary world is ripe for the lightning of another revival. Henley is confident that we will be a part of that worldwide event, perhaps moving all creation nearer to its sudden glorious conclusion and rebirth.

Book Living Grace 24 7

Book excerpt: It has often been expressed that the primary leadership of the Reformation [Restoration] did not go far enough in their restoration of the New Testament Church. Martin Luther got it right on how we are saved [justification]. “The just shall live by faith” (Galatians 3:11), was one of the revelatory truths of God’s Word that rallied the Reformers. We praise God for the reformer John Wycliffe who believed that the people should be able to read the Bible in their own language; and by the grace of God, he worked hard to get the truth of God’s Word into the hands and hearts of the masses. That is an on-going mission which must be repeated in each new generation. Notice, within a half century after the Reformation began the church was in crisis, because it misunderstood that justification or salvation is of God by grace through faith alone – the believers who came out of the Medieval or Dark Ages were taught that sanctification [spiritual maturity] was accomplished through works of the flesh. They were constantly reminded how much their relationship with God depended on their works. The sad news is many local churches continue to practice this pre-Reformation church model of ministry to this day. That theological error has come full circle today. The results are witnessed in every city, town and village of America as citizens, who have chosen to no longer believe God is relevant, but that He no longer loves and cares, that He created the world and left it to feign for itself (Deism). Add to that the many local churches that rely upon legalism, performance of the flesh, and feelings (entertainment), rather than upon God’s grace alone through the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit and Word of God working in tandem. The Spirit leads, guides, and teaches the restored truths of the Gospel of Grace. Teachers were raised up during the Reformation to help Christians know what they believed and why they believed it. Today, God is continuing to meet that need by raising up desperately needed Spiritually-gifted and bold apologetic teachers for that very purpose in these last days (see 2 Timothy 2:2). The Bread of Life Ministries and Bible Institute along with thousands of Para ministries across America and around the world are established and Spirit-led for “such a time as this.” Magdalene and I were led of the Spirit to establish the Bread of Life Ministries 25 years ago specifically to equip the saints (disciples) for that purpose. If the churches would return to their Christ-given mission, biblical world view and teaching ministries, millions would be saved, disciple and brought into the kingdom of God with the continued commitment to do the same!

Book Two Men from Babylon

  • ISBN : 0785238778
  • Pages : 224 pages

Download or read book Two Men from Babylon written by Wallace Henley and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2020-06-15 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What roles do King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of ancient Babylon, and Donald J. Trump, 45th president of the United States, play in God furthering His kingdom? In Two Men from Babylon, Wallace Henley brings into perspective how God uses unlikely leaders to bring about His plans and purpose. Here is a masterfully constructed book that tears the camouflage off our times and looks intensely at what is going on in our crazy era on the eve of a year of destiny—and perhaps for civilization itself. Here you will: Consider the possibility that God made Donald Trump president Learn where the “age of Trump” might fit into history Get a feel for the "White House Mystique” Sense the spiritual atmosphere of the Oval Office Discover the strategic role of the church related to politics Understand why places of great power are vulnerable to demonic attack . . . and much more The heart of this book is found in two Scripture passages, “It is God who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings” (Daniel 2:21); and “This Gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14). Two Men from Babylon summarizes the truth of these verses in revealing that God has grand purposes for time and history; there are manifestations of the kingdom that appear throughout finite time and history; the church is the primary agent for the expansion of this kingdom; nations are of strategic importance in the fulfillment of God’s plan; and it is God who establishes and removes the leaders of those nations. Thus, the Lord of History is the focus of this book, but Nebuchadnezzar and Donald Trump play an essential role in His story.

Book excerpt: WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? True Christianity is under siege in America today! Satan has spread two of the most evil deceptions in his arsenal, secular humanism [No God] in our society and institutions and religious Christianity [No -- Spirit] in the churches. Both deny Christs finished work of grace (divine favor). Things are looking bleak to many people seeking reality! They realize that Satan and his kingdom of darkness are behind Americas chaotic world systems. Notice, our world of politics, world of social action and justice, world of education, world of finances, world of marriage and the family, world of sports, even the world of weather are distorted and corrupted. For the past century, we have stood by blindly as Satan has secularized our society and religionized many of our Christian churches. Gods people must stand in the gap for this great nation! There is hope! God is meeting the needs with abundance of living grace, through the restored power of the Holy Spirit and restored truths of His Word; making leaders and their people the true salt and light through inward transformation and embracing the restored teaching and reality of living grace [the finished work of Christ], and right relationships in Him. Thus, God is rising up anointed Para-ministries among professing Christians; and churches who are hearing what the Spirit is saying to the churches. Nothing is too hard for God!

Book Watershed Moments

Book excerpt: Our lives consist of moments. Stitched together like the seams on a coat, these moments cloak us in awareness and possibility. But what if we miss our moments? What if we live in a bland state of wandering? Seeking growth, seeking passion—but missing the moments in which God tries to pull the thread through the cloth in the way we’ve dreamed of? Watershed moments are the turning points in our lives brought on by circumstances which stop us in our tracks. A new direction; a fresh perspective; an answered prayer; a humble surrender—these are the moments that redirect us; leaving us profoundly changed. Through a progression of seven types of Watershed moments (the Watersheds of change, unraveling, rebuilding, purpose, abandoning [control], overcoming, and belief), Gari portrays life as a series of moments we encounter where we can face or turn away from change. A life marked by Watershed moments starts from the place where we live desperately hoping for some kind of new and freeing adventure. Through the lives of Abraham, David, Rebekah, Jacob, Rachel, Nehemiah, Peter and many more, as well as through personal Watershed moments in her life and the lives of several women who have written their own stories, Watershed Moments is a bold invitation to pay attention to the revelation God gives in the twinkling of a second at our moments of change. God uses watershed moments to position us to go one direction
