Book Globalizaci n Posmodernidad y Educaci n

Download or read book Globalizaci n Posmodernidad y Educaci n written by José Luis Aróstegui and published by Ediciones AKAL. This book was released on 2008-10-01 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Researching Social Media with Children

Download or read book Researching Social Media with Children written by Antonio Silva Esquinas and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-08-01 with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reflecting on the methodological issues involved in researching digital spaces with children, this book shares good practices and delves into the ethics of such research. Social media has completely redefined how children and young people relate to each other, express themselves, and present their identities and sexualities. Yet researching social media can be a difficult and daunting task given the ephemerality of the content, its contextual hyperspecificity, the complex power relationships between users, celebrity culture, digital capitalism, and the ethical issues that arise from the reimagining of the public/private space. Using digital ethnography and creative digital storytelling workshops with children and young people aged 13-15 and 13-18 on TikTok, Instagram, and Twitch, this book studies their interactions, language, codes, the risks they take, and the victimizations they suffer. Researching Social Media with Children will be of use to social scientists conducting online research, and to students and scholars of media studies, digital criminology, psychology, and sociology. [The authors draw on experiences from studies carried out in Spain on children and social media by the Knowledge-Research Group on Social Problems at Universidad Europea de Madrid.]

This book was released on 2012 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Keywords in Radical Philosophy and Education

Download or read book Keywords in Radical Philosophy and Education written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2019-05-15 with total page 522 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While education is an inherently political field and practice, and while the political struggles that radical philosophy takes up necessarily involve education, there remains much to be done at the intersection of education and radical philosophy. That so many intense political struggles today actually center educational processes and institutions makes this gap all the more pressing. Yet in order for this work to be done, we need to begin to establish common frameworks and languages in and with which to move. Keywords in Radical Philosophy and Education takes up this crucial and urgent task. Dozens of emerging and leading activists, organizers, and scholars assemble a collective body of concepts to interrogate, provoke, and mobilize contemporary political, economic, and social struggles. This wide-ranging edited collection covers key and innovative philosophical and educational themes—from animals, sex, wind, and praxis, to studying, podcasting, debt, and students. This field-defining work is a necessary resource for all activists and academics interested in exploring the latest conceptual contributions growing out of the intersection of social struggles and the university. Book Imagined Globalization

Download or read book Imagined Globalization written by Néstor García Canclini and published by Duke University Press. This book was released on 2014-03-07 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A leading figure in cultural studies worldwide, Néstor García Canclini is a Latin American thinker who has consistently sought to understand the impact of globalization on the relations between Latin America, Europe, and the United States, and among Latin American countries. In this book, newly available in English, he considers how globalization is imagined by artists, academics, migrants, and entrepreneurs, all of whom traverse boundaries and, at times, engage in conflicted or negotiated multicultural interactions. García Canclini contrasts the imaginaries of previous migrants to the Americas with those who live in transnational circuits today. He integrates metaphor and narrative, working through philosophical, anthropological, and socioeconomically grounded interpretations of art, literature, crafts, media, and other forms of expression toward his conclusion that globalization is, in important ways, a collection of heterogeneous narratives. García Canclini advocates global imaginaries that generate new strategies for dealing with contingency and produce new forms of citizenship oriented toward multiple social configurations rather than homogenization. This edition of Imagined Globalization includes a significant new introduction by George Yúdice and an interview in which the cultural theorist Toby Miller and García Canclini touch on events including the Arab Spring and Occupy Wall Street.
