Book Global Supply Chain Group s Guide to Supply Chain Governance

Download or read book Global Supply Chain Group s Guide to Supply Chain Governance written by Vivek Sood and published by Global Supply Chain Group. This book was released on 2017-10-25 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Boards are Remarkably Good At Corporate Governance, and Yet Face the Flak For It Everybody who has spent any time with boards of directors lives and breathes corporate governance. The corporate governance process is designed and run with almost military precision to give effect to the legislative requirements and commercial exigencies with only a few board meetings a year. Due to the focused attention of some of the best people in the corporate world and significant budgetary allocation, the governance of what falls within the four walls of the company itself is done with a remarkable efficiency almost all the time. So, the natural question is why then such a lot of hoopla in the press about corporate governance. Where does it fail for the 3Ps (the press, the politicians, and the preachers from the NGOs) to make such a lot of noise about it? This question merits a little deeper exploration because almost all failures of corporate governance lie elsewhere. After visiting with numerous boards and having spent countless hours past midnight preparing board presentations, papers and submissions, we have become convinced that lack of corporate governance is not the real culprit in most cases. That infamy lies at the behest of supply chain governance.

Book Guide to Supply Chain Management

Download or read book Guide to Supply Chain Management written by David Steven Jacoby and published by The Economist. This book was released on 2014-02-25 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Globalization, technology and an increasingly competitive business environment have encouraged huge changes in what is known as supply chain management, the art of sourcing components and delivering finished goods to the customer as cost effectively and efficiently as possible. Dell transformed the way people bought and were able to customize computers. Wal-Mart and Tesco have used their huge buying power and logistical skills to ensure the supply and stock management of their stores is finely honed. Manufacturers now make sure that components are where they are needed on the production line just in time for when they are needed and no longer. Such finessing of the way the supply chain works boosts the corporate bottom line and can make the difference between being a market leader or an also ran. This guide explores all the different aspects of supply chain management and gives hundreds of real life examples of what firms have achieved in the field.

Book Global Supply Chain Group s Guide to Strategic Sourcing

Download or read book Global Supply Chain Group s Guide to Strategic Sourcing written by Vivek Sood and published by Global Supply Chain Group. This book was released on 2010-10-21 with total page 3 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There was a time when strategic sourcing meant aggregation of spend across the divisions and running a tender. Sophisticated techniques have since then gradually crept into this discipline. Strategic Sourcing has become more strategic and less sourcing oriented. A complete supply chain perspective, melded with corporate governance imperatives has given rise to the supply chain governance thinking at the board level. In the era of the growing emphasis on supply chain governance, strategic sourcing has taken on a new mantle.
