Book Glide Symmetric Z2 Magnetic Topological Crystalline Insulators

Download or read book Glide Symmetric Z2 Magnetic Topological Crystalline Insulators written by Heejae Kim and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-01-25 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a comprehensive theory on glide-symmetric topological crystalline insulators. Beginning with developing a theory of topological phase transitions between a topological and trivial phase, it derives a formula for topological invariance in a glide-symmetric topological phase when inversion symmetry is added into a system. It also shows that the addition of inversion symmetry drastically simplifies the formula, providing insights into this topological phase, and proposes potential implementations. Lastly, based on the above results, the author establishes a way to design topological photonic crystals. Allowing readers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the glide-symmetric topological crystalline insulators, the book offers a way to produce such a topological phase in various physical systems, such as electronic and photonic systems, in the future.

Book Vowel Glide Alternation in a Theory of Constraint Interaction

Download or read book Vowel Glide Alternation in a Theory of Constraint Interaction written by Samuel Rosenthall and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-11-26 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First Published in 1997. The alternation between high vowels and glides is shown here to follow from the interaction of phonological constraints as defined by Prince and Smolensky's (1993) Optimality Theory. The alternation stems from simultaneously comparing moraic and nonmoraic parses of high vowels for constraint satisfaction

This book was released on with total page 69 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ever since Icarus and Daedalus flew across the sea with wings made of feathers and wax people have imagined flying like the birds. Some people do – glider pilots, hang glider pilots, paraglider pilots, wingsuit pilots… all these and many others pursue the dream of human flight. But what does it take to really fly far? To fly further than any human has before, powered only by the sun, wind, thermals and your own skill? In this collection of four true real-life short stories, an elite band of hang glider and paraglider pilots reveal what it takes to set a world record in hang gliding and paragliding distance flying. They include: 1. Dragon Slaying, with Nevil Hulett South African pilot Nevil Hulett goes big-game hunting in the South African outback and comes back with a 500km record.
