Download or read book Handbook on bentonite bonded moulding material written by Werner Tilch and published by Fachverlag Schiele & Schoen. This book was released on 2020-02-27 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to estimates, modern foundries in Germany, Europe and worldwide replace about 70 % of their lost moulds with moulds made of bentonite-bonded materials. The main mould components are quartz sand, bentonite and water. These components are compacted in one of the most productive procedures in the foundry. One of the main advantages of this moulding material system is the ability to restore the bonding power of most of the material. This ability creates a moulding material circulation system. This system and the use of mostly inorganic moulding materials make this creation of moulds the most environmentally friendly choice for the cast part production. Because of this circulation of moulding materials and specifically because of the bentonite/water bonding system, the preparation of moulds made from bentonite-bonded moulding materials is very different from making moulds and cores using materials with chemical binders. This manual describes the handling and preparation of bentonite-bonded moulding materials as well as the moulding material recovery and re-use after forming the cast part.
Download or read book Metallurgy and Technology of Steel Castings written by Jan Głownia and published by Bentham Science Publishers. This book was released on 2017-12-22 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metallurgy and Technology of Steel Castings is a comprehensive textbook for students and professional engineers in the field of foundry engineering and materials science. The topics covered in this book explain the association between the quality of liquid metal and the properties of the finished cast. Readers will learn about the thermodynamic conditions for addition and recovery of chemical elements (such as Cr, Ni and Mo) in steel, degasifying processes, the influence of alloying additives for manufacturing steel castings that operate in extreme temperatures, anti-corrosive steels and basic cast conditions for making the castings (pouring and heat treatment systems). Metallurgy and Technology of Steel Castings gives readers essential information about steel and steel cast manufacturing processes and equips them with the knowledge to overcome the challenges faced in the foundry environment.

Download or read book Handbook of Aluminium Recycling written by Christoph Schmitz and published by Vulkan-Verlag GmbH. This book was released on 2006 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The range of useful books and other publications on furnace engineering, thermodynamics and process engineering is vast. The specialized practitioner, however, is obliged, generally with some degree of effort, to filter out the information and processes for heat treatment of specific materials that are relevant to his or her needs. The "Handbook of Aluminium Recycling", published exclusively in English, guides the practitioner in the field of production, design or plant engineering in detail through the various technologies involved in aluminium recycling. An examination of aluminium as a material and of its recovery from natural raw materials sources, in the context of a brief introduction, is followed by discussion of the various processes and procedures. Melting and casting plants, and also metal treatment facilities, are described in detail, as are provisions and equipment for environmental and workforce safety. A separate chapter is devoted to plant planning, operation and control, in view of the fact that the arrangement of the individual plant elements has a significant influence on cost efficiency and dependable operation. The technologies used for remelting of aluminium are analyzed both for their particular potential uses in conjunction with the scrap charged and with the attainment of the target alloy. The illustration of design details enables the practitioner to judge whether, and how, the technology examined in each case might be used for any particular application. Thermodynamics and metallurgical facts required for understanding of the relevant processes are drawn from practice. The reader is thus provided with a detailed overview of the technology of aluminium recycling, and familiarized quickly and systematically with both long proven and new, innovative methods.
Download or read book Dictionary of Power Engineering written by and published by Elsevier Publishing Company. This book was released on 1993 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dictionary contains 4,102 German terms and their English equivalents followed by field(s) of application and definitions. Apart from the synonyms and abbreviations referring to the parent terms, a unique feature of this dictionary is that relevant concepts and processes have been explained for a better understanding of the terms. It also contains terms from the areas of thermal power engineering, namely: boilers, power plant chemistry, coal, control and instrumentation, material sciences, metallurgy, thermodynamics and so on. Unlike most bilingual dictionaries, this dictionary provides an English index at the end, which will certainly be an added advantage to the user. A host of reference materials, such as scientific journals, technical reference books, lexicons, guidelines, standards, patents and bilingual product literature were consulted to make the terms as authentic and up-to-date as possible. A team of experts from specialized areas of power engineering rendered valuable assistance in editing the definitions of various terms. The dictionary is useful to scientists, engineers and other professional translators engaged in the field.
