Book Innovation Competitiveness and Development in Latin America

Download or read book Innovation Competitiveness and Development in Latin America written by Paulo N. Figueiredo and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2024-02-20 with total page 497 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Post-war Latin American economies have failed to close the development gap with advanced industrial countries despite more than six decades of attempted reform and undoubted economic and social progress. Two decades into the twenty-first century, there is little sign of this situation changing for the better. Compared with other emerging regions, notably East Asia, Latin America has underperformed in income, productivity, and innovation terms. All of this suggests that the time is right for a thorough assessment of why Latin America's recent pursuit of economic development has proven so elusive. Innovation, Competitiveness, and Development in Latin America provides a balanced and topical analysis of the successes and failures of development policy in post-war Latin America. Across nineteen chapters, experts in the economics and policy of Latin American development and policy identify the challenges at hand. They explore why the region is caught in a middle-income trap, where structural impediments frustrate the achievement of accelerated and sustainable growth. At the same time, potential actions are suggested for creating lasting progress. The chapters address vital issues in the region including established or emerging sources of competitive advantage and technological capability; future areas for comparative advantage; policy effectiveness to address under-investment in human capital; poor infrastructure; and uncompetitive market structures. The chapters in the volume draw on evidence from across the region, including countries such as Argentina, Chile, Brazil, and Costa Rica. The structural characteristics of economies within the region are identified and the potential implications considered of the re-primarization process witnessed in recent years. The volume concludes with a consideration of policy lessons from these countries and illuminates potential pathways for effective policy action in the region as a whole. With fresh insights grounded in the reality of modern-day Latin America, Innovation, Competitiveness, and Development in Latin America offers scholars and professionals a crucial window into Latin America's long-term developmental trajectory.

Book Transdisciplinary Engineering Methods for Social Innovation of Industry 4 0

Download or read book Transdisciplinary Engineering Methods for Social Innovation of Industry 4 0 written by M. Peruzzini and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2018-09-14 with total page 1250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The concept of concurrent engineering (CE) was first developed in the 1980s. Now often referred to as transdiciplinary engineering, it is based on the idea that different phases of a product life cycle should be conducted concurrently and initiated as early as possible within the Product Creation Process (PCP). The main goal of CE is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the PCP and reduce errors in later phases, as well as incorporating considerations – including environmental implications – for the full lifecycle of the product. It has become a substantive methodology in many industries, and has also been adopted in the development of new services and service support. This book presents the proceedings of the 25th ISPE Inc. International Conference on Transdisciplinary Engineering, held in Modena, Italy, in July 2018. This international conference attracts researchers, industry experts, students, and government representatives interested in recent transdisciplinary engineering research, advancements and applications. The book contains 120 peer-reviewed papers, selected from 259 submissions from all continents of the world, ranging from the theoretical and conceptual to papers addressing industrial best practice, and is divided into 11 sections reflecting the themes addressed in the conference program and addressing topics as diverse as industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing; human-centered design; modeling, simulation and virtual design; and knowledge and data management among others. With an overview of the latest research results, product creation processes and related methodologies, this book will be of interest to researchers, design practitioners and educators alike.

Book Inova o horizontal

Download or read book Inova o horizontal written by Antônio Carlos Teixeira Álvares and published by SENAI-SP Editora. This book was released on 2021-08-24 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book From Knowledge Management to Learning Organisation to Innovation

Download or read book From Knowledge Management to Learning Organisation to Innovation written by Fawzy Soliman and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2015-01-12 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book propagates the argument that innovation is heavily influenced by learning, which in turn is driven by knowledge. This means that extensive knowledge (as a basis for good knowledge management) is necessary for learning that is suitable for innovation. Since previous studies have not paid enough attention to determining which types of knowledge can be suitable or defective, this book serves to fill the void through a number of well-written articles by some of the most renowned and respected names in the fields of knowledge management, learning and innovation. From Knowledge Management to Learning Organisation to Innovation offers readers the chance to further enhance their understanding of the knowledge management and learning practices that are relevant to organizational activities. This volume is also designed to alert the management of all organisations to the risks that they could face if the innovation process is not carefully managed. It is particularly unique because of the assistance it offers to companies in avoiding exposing themselves to unnecessary problems should they not ensure that appropriate knowledge and learning processes have taken place.
