Book A Threshold Crossed

Download or read book A Threshold Crossed written by Omar Shakir and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The widely held assumption that the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory is a temporary situation and that the 'peace process' will soon bring an end to Israeli abuses has obscured the reality on the ground today of Israel's entrenched discriminatory rule over Palestinians. A single authority, the Israeli government, rules primarily over the area between the Jordan River and Mediterranean Sea, populated by two groups of roughly equal size, methodologically privileging Jewish Israelis while repressing Palestinians, most severely in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), made-up of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza. Drawing on years of human rights documentation, case studies and a review of government planning documents, statements by officials and other sources, [this report] examines Israel's treatment of Palestinians and evaluates whether particular Israeli policies and practices in certain areas amount to the crimes against humanity of apartheid and persecution."--Page 4 of cover.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: History versus science, history versus history, or history with science--who has it right? In this book, you will be challenged to think differently about BC history. Discover a calendar that is over five thousand years old and how the younger calendars go with it in this timeline. Discover a reason why different dates are assigned to the same event. Explore why the Second Temple of Judaism which stood partly BC and partly AD for about 420 years can have a start date in the 500s BC and 300s BC. Discover concurrent event reading of the Bible as it relates to history. Discover the accuracy preserved by forefathers and more. With the use of the Gregorian calendar beginning in the 1500s, we read BC history with dates that go backward as events move forward. This is exactly the opposite of our current dates where the dates move forward as events move forward. In this book there is a BC to AD timeline of the Bible, some history and some prophesied events. As you read, you will go on a journey through history, and put together past and present through what was written down about events and prophesied events. 157

Book Bed and Breakfast on Stolen Land

Download or read book Bed and Breakfast on Stolen Land written by Human Rights Watch (Organization) and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 65 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This report documents how the global travel companies Airbnb and Booking.com are listing and facilitating the rental of dozens of properties in settlements in the occupied West Bank. Settlements of civilians in occupied territory are unlawful under international humanitarian law regardless of the status of the land on which they are built. The presence of the settlement properties triggers serious human rights abuses against Palestinians, including blocking their access to nearby privately-owned plots of land, restricting their freedom of movement and, because of those travel restrictions, limiting their right to access education and health services and protections for keeping families intact."--Publisher website (viewed December 7, 2018).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This seminal work of Chabad Chasidic philosophy is considered to be the "last will and testament" of the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn. The discourse was released for the 10th of Shevat in the year 5710 (1950); on that day Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak passed away. Chasidim customarily study Basi LeGani each year in honor of the yahrzeit, and each year his successor, the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, explained another of its chapters in depth. The Rebbe's exposition of Basi LeGani, the first Chasidic discourse he spoke upon assuming the mantle of leadership in 5711 (1951), was also a declaration of his own mission and goals. This widely acclaimed English edition will enable many more Jews to participate in the study of this important work.

Book Land Expropriation in Israel

    Book Details:
  • Author : Yifat Holzman-Gazit
  • Publisher : Routledge
  • Release : 2016-04-22
  • ISBN : 131710837X
  • Pages : 213 pages

Download or read book Land Expropriation in Israel written by Yifat Holzman-Gazit and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-22 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Historically, Israel's Supreme Court has failed to limit the state's powers of expropriation and to protect private property. This book argues that the Court's land expropriation jurisprudence can only be understood against the political, cultural and institutional context in which it was shaped. Security and economic pressures, the precarious status of the Court in the early years, the pervading ethos of collectivism, the cultural symbolism of public land ownership and the perceived strategic and demographic risks posed by the Israeli Arab population - all contributed to the creation of a harsh and arguably undemocratic land expropriation legal philosophy. This philosophy, the book argues, was applied by the Supreme Court to Arabs and Jews alike from the creation of the state in 1948 and until the 1980s. The book concludes with an analysis of the constitutional change of 1992 and its impact on the legal treatment of property rights under Israeli law.
