Download or read book Klaus Vogel on Double Taxation Conventions written by Ekkehart Reimert and published by Kluwer Law International B.V.. This book was released on 2022-01-18 with total page 3112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Klaus Vogel on Double Taxation Conventions is regarded as the international gold standard on the law of tax treaties. This article-by-article commentary has been completely revised and updated to give you a full and current account of double tax conventions (DTCs). DTCs form the backbone of international taxation, but they raise many interpretational questions. This market leading work will provide you with the answers. Based on the OECD/G20 Multilateral Instrument, the OECD MC and Commentary published in 2017 and the most recent amendments to the UN MC, the book also includes relevant case law and scholarly literature upto and including 2020. Previous editions of the Vogel have been routinely relied on by courts around the world including Australia, Canada, Germany, India, South Africa, the Netherlands and United Kingdom. What’s new in this edition? There have been many important developments in this area since the last edition in 2015. The authors discuss these developments and the effect they will have upon practitioners working in this area. They also provide a wealth of new and revised case law, along with the DTCs of emerging countries. You’ll find: Reports about major features in the DTC practice of many leading jurisdictions, such as: the DTC practice of Austria, Canada, France, Germany, India, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the UK and the US Sections on divergent country practice covering their national models and networks of bilateral DTCs Thorough analysis of the OECD and UN model, as well as the implementation of these models in practice Amendments of bilateral DTCs, textual or in substance, on the basis of the 2017 Anti-BEPS Multilateral Instrument Coverage of a full range of the latest tax treaties around the world, including important treaties between OECD and BRICS countries This new Fifth Edition of Klaus Vogel on Double Taxation Conventions continues to reflect the unchallenged role of the OECD. The OECD MC, accompanied by the official Commentary, guidelines, reports and other recommendations, has sustained its position as the most important legal instrument in the area of DTCs. On occasion, the UN MC and Commentary diverge from the OECD texts. When this happens, the authors deal with the specifics of the UN MC in separate annotations and analyses, explaining and making sure you understand the differences. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published by the Singapore Art Museum T. K. Sabapathy has been writing on the art of Southeast Asia for more than four decades, as a critic, curator, and art historian. He is a penetrating critic and ardent advocate for the art and artists of Singapore and Malaysia. His art historical methods, critical documentation, deep dialogue with artists, and detailed explication of their works have set the course of art discourse in the region. Writing the Modern is the first collection of Sabapathy's work, featuring pieces that represent the scope and depth of his output and highlight his most important and influential writings. At the same time, it is a survey of the vast changes in the landscape of art in the region over the period. Sabapathy chronicles the shift in Asian art from a predominantly nationalist/modernist mode to a global contemporary style. Those new to his work will find this the ideal introduction to his oeuvre. And his longtime fans will find this book the perfect opportunity for review and renewed consideration of his work. Ultimately, it's a collection sure to fuel a new generation of modern and contemporary art writing, research, and exhibition making.

Download or read book Nostalgia for the Future Modernism and Heterogeneity in the Visual Arts of Nazi Germany written by Gregory Maertz and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2019-04-30 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the first chapter on the German military’s unlikely function as an incubator of modernist art and in the second chapter on Adolf Hitler’s advocacy for “eugenic” figurative representation embodying nostalgia for lost Aryan racial perfection and the aspiration for the future perfection of the German Volk, Maertz conclusively proves that the Nazi attack on modernism was inconsistent. In further chapters, on the appropriation of Christian iconography in constructing symbols of a Nazi racial utopia and on Baldur von Schirach’s heretical patronage of modernist art as the supreme Nazi Party authority in Vienna, Maertz reveals that sponsorship of modernist artists continued until the collapse of the regime. Also based on previously unexamined evidence, including 10,000 works of art and documents confiscated by the U.S. Army, Maertz’s final chapter reconstructs the anarchic denazification and rehabilitation of German artists during the Allied occupation, which had unforeseen consequences for the postwar art world.
Download or read book Art in the Asia Pacific written by Larissa Hjorth and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-02-18 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As social, locative, and mobile media render the intimate public and the public intimate, this volume interrogates how this phenomenon impacts art practice and politics. Contributors bring together the worlds of art and media culture to rethink their intersections in light of participatory social media. By focusing upon the Asia-Pacific region, they seek to examine how regionalism and locality affect global circuits of culture. The book also offers a set of theoretical frameworks and methodological paradigms for thinking about contemporary art practice more generally.
Download or read book Heimat A German Dream written by Elizabeth Boa and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2000-09-21 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The discourse of Heimat, meaning homeland or roots, has been a medium of debate on German identity between region and nation for at least a century. Four phases parallel Germany's discontinuous history: Heimat literature as a response to modernization and to regional tensions before the First World War; the inter-war period when Heimat divided into racist ideology, left-wing opposition, and inner resistance to the Third Reich; a post-war dialectic between escapist 1950s Heimat films and right-wing claims to the lost lands in the East to which anti-Heimat theatre and films in the 1960s and 1970s were a response, with the urban Heimat in GDR films adding a socialist twist; regionalism and green politics in the 1980s and German identity beyond Cold War divisions. A key point of reference in current debates on German history, Heimat looks likely to continue in postmodern and multicultural mode.

Variously performing roles that include giftwrap, lightweight armour, transmitter and insulator, glass began its re-emergence as an architectural force during the 1990s, as a symbol of new modernism. Advances in glass-making and construction technology and the advent of structural glazing, fixing systems, glass coatings and waterproof connections have transformed the ambitious dreams of the past into reality. Download or read book Don t Call It Art written by Annette Bhagwati and published by . This book was released on 2021-10-30 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Karaoke bars and noisy motorbikes, AIDS and capitalism, Buddhism and homosexuality, the allure of Western brands and a worn out country, marked by war?the works of Vietnamese artists Truong Tan, Nguyen Minh Thanh, Nguyen Quang Huy and Nguyen Van Cuong are both blunt and introspective, marked by fury and tenderness. Their work stands for a society on the brink of change?and they mark the beginning of a new art, the onset of contemporary art in Vietnam. Their unconventional works, their art performances and installations? the first ever in Vietnam?have established them as the most important protagonists of a free young art scene that emerged in Hanoi in the early 1990s. Their works have found their place not only in the collections of leading museums such as Singapore Art Museum and National Gallery Singapore, Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation New York or Fukuoka Asian Art Museum; even recent art historical surveys in Vietnam itself now honor their names as ground-breaking artists. Four extensive artist sections are the core of the book. The archive of German artist Veronika Radulovic enables us to make these radical works accessible for the first time. Don?t Call it Art! tells the initial story of four artists and thereby bridge a gap in Vietnamese art history of the 20th century.
