Book ABC s of FT NMR

    Book Details:
  • Author : John D. Roberts
  • Publisher : University Science Books
  • Release : 2000
  • ISBN : 9781891389184
  • Pages : 342 pages

Download or read book ABC s of FT NMR written by John D. Roberts and published by University Science Books. This book was released on 2000 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primary purpose of this book is to help you understand what is going on in Fourier Transform (FT) Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Modern life is now very largely life with 'black boxes' that carry warning labels: 'No user-serviceable parts inside.' Many find black boxes to be quite acceptable, at least as long as they work. But how willing should we be to accept black-box analyses without some understanding of how those analyses were obtained? NMR spectrometers are like 'black boxes' in that they offer many standardised procedures, but it can be dangerous to the quality of your data if you rely slavishly on such procedures without understanding how and why the proper parameter choices are critical. The scope of this book is broad rather than deep with the intention of providing helpful insight. Much can be understood in a more qualitative way and that is the approach taken here. For those few areas where a quantitative approach is needed, simple mathematics will usually suffice.

Book The Indianapolis ABCs

Download or read book The Indianapolis ABCs written by Paul Debono and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2007-08-15 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Indianapolis ABCs were formed around the turn of the century, playing company teams from around the city; they soon played other teams in Indiana, including some white teams. Their emergence coincided with the remarkable growth of black baseball, and by 1916 the ABCs won their first major championship. When the Negro National League was formed in 1920, Indianapolis was one of its charter members. But player raids by the Eastern Colored League, formed in 1923, hurt the ABCs and by the Depression the team was fading into oblivion. The team was briefly resurrected as a Negro league team in the late 1930s, but was otherwise relegated to the semiprofessional ranks until its demise in the 1940s. Through contemporary newspaper accounts, extensive research and interviews with the few former ABC players still living, this is the story of the Indianapolis team and the rise of Negro League baseball. The work includes a roster of ABC players, with short biographies of the most prominent.
