This book was released on 2017-06-24 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Geology and Mineral Resources of a Portion of the Copper River District, Alaska The geological observations were necessarily confined to the vicinity of the routes traveled, and while far from complete, they are sufficient to reveal the main geological features of the region traversed. The compilation of the geological notes and the drawing of the geological map has been the joint work of the two authors. But the form of the report and the manner of presentation of the data has fallen upon the junior author, because Mr. Schrader was obliged to devote much of his time while in the office to the perfection of plans for explorations in northern Alaska, and left for the field in February. Book The Noatak Kobuk Region Alaska Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Noatak Kobuk Region Alaska Classic Reprint written by Philip Sidney Smith and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-09-17 with total page 600 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Noatak-Kobuk Region, Alaska Investigations by the United States Geological Survey have closely followed the pioneer' a search for deposits of valuable minerals in Alaska. In accordance with this practice, expeditions have visited parts of northwestern Alaska where mining has been in progress or where there was probability of mining in the future, and a series of reports has been published setting forth both the geologic and the geographic results obtained. The present paper is one of this series and aims to describe the main features of the N oatak-kobuk region. The area included in this indefinite tract is shown on Plate I. It is not proposed, however, to describe all the region mapped, but rather to give attention only to the Kobuk and N o atak basins and the immediately contiguous territory. Therefore the Koyukuk and its tributaries, except Alatna River, will in the main be excluded, together with the Selawik River basin and Seward Peninsula. Though reference is made to these places, they are not part of the area considered in this bulletin. Reports on certain of these other areas have already been published and are available.' This book was released on 2018-01-10 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Mineral Resources of the Kotsina-Chitina Region, Alaska The increased demand for copper and its prevailing high price, due chiefly to remarkable advances in the use of electric power, have, during the last few years, attracted much attention to the copper deposits of Alaska. Copper has been found in many parts of Alaska, but at present only three regions or districts give promise of mak ing any important contribution to the copper market. These regions are Prince of Wales Island in southeastern Alaska, Prince William Sound, and the Copper River - Chitina River region. The first two regions have produced copper for several years, as their mines are situated near the ocean and enjoy cheaper transportation facili ties, but the interior region is still in the prospecting stage and will remain so till a better and more economical means of handling sup plies and ore is provided.
