Book The Phanerozoic Geology and Natural Resources of Egypt

Download or read book The Phanerozoic Geology and Natural Resources of Egypt written by Zakaria Hamimi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-05-04 with total page 749 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Phanerozoic Geology and Natural Resources of Egypt includes a series of chapters written by highly qualified group of researchers whose expertise is recognized and appreciated not only in Egypt, but also in the world over. The chapters span a wide range of geological subdisciplines including tectonics, paleogeography, stratigraphy, sedimentology, paleontology, groundwater, and energy resources, just to name a few. In this regard, the book provides the reader with ample knowledge about the different facets of the fascinating and always intriguing geology of Egypt since the Precambrian time. For a junior researcher or a geoscience student, the book is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary one-stop resource that they will continue to reference and rely on for years to come. For a more experienced scientist, the book summarizes the current state of knowledge, highlights the magnitude of complexity of the geology of Egypt and northeast Africa, and reveals potential areas where future research should be directed. The book is written in simple, easy to understand English language and contains very useful high-quality illustrations. Last but not least, The Phanerozoic Geology and Natural Resources of Egypt has been reviewed and edited by world class, highly ranked geoscientists from Egypt, Europe, and USA.

Download or read book Anthropoid Origins written by John G Fleagle and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 712 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume brings together information about recent discoveries and current theories concerning the origin and early evolution of anthropoid primates monkeys, apes, and humans. Although Anthropoidea is one of the most dis tinctive groups of living primates, and the origin of the group is a frequent topic of discussion in the anthropological and paleontological literature, the topic of anthropoid origins has rarely been the foeus of direct discussion in primate evolution. Rather, diseussion of anthropoid origins appears as a ma jor side issue in volumes dealing with the origin of platyrrhines (Ciochon and Chiarelli, 1980), in discussions about the phylogenetic position of Tarsius, in descriptions of early anthropoid fossils, and in descriptions and revisions of various fossil prosimians. As a result, the literature on anthropoid origins has a long history of argument by advocacy, in which scholars with different views have expounded individual theories based on a small bit of evidence at hand, often with little consideration of alternative views and other types of evidence that have been used in their support. This type of scholarship struck us as a relatively unproductive approach to a critical issue in primate evolution.

  • Publisher : Springer
  • Release : 2016-10-31

Download or read book Ichnoentomology written by Jorge Fernando Genise and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-10-31 with total page 707 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to the ichnology of insects, and associated trace fossils, in soils and paleosols. The traces described here, mostly nests and pupation chambers, include one of the most complex architectures produced by animals. Chapters explore the walls, shapes and fillings of trace fossils followed by their classifications and ichnotaxonomy. Detailed descriptions and interpretations for different groups of insects like bees, ants, termites, dung beetles and wasps are also provided. Chapters also highlight the the paleoenvironmental significance of insect trace fossils in paleosols for paleontological reconstructions, sedimentological interpretation, and ichnofabrics analysis. Readers will discover how insect trace fossils act as physical evidence for reconstructing the evolution of behavior, phylogenies, past geographical distributions, and to know how insects achieved some of the more complex architectures. The book will appeal to researchers and graduate students in ichnology, sedimentology, paleopedology, and entomology and readers interested in insect architecture.
