New ideas about the tectonic setting and metallogenic history of the district are also presented. The area lies near the eastern margin of the Coast Mountains at the head of the Portland Canal, a fiord 115 kilometres long, which marks the southeastern boundary between the Alaska Panhandle and northwestern British Columbia.

This book was released on 2017-10-27 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Geology, and Ore Deposits of Hedley Mining District, British Columbia Though the area covered by the map is not great, being only about 10 Square miles, the time consumed in the topographic work was much longer than might seem adequate for a map of such size. This is accounted for by the physical conditions encountered in surveying, the ruggedness of the ground, and the inaccessibility of some of its parts. Download or read book Basement Tectonics 8 written by Mervin J. Bartholomew and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 729 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 8th International Conference on Basement Tectonics was held in Butte, Montana, August 8-12,1988. Historically, basement tectonics conferences have focused on such topics as reactivation of faults, the influence of basement faults on metallogeny and hyrocarbon accumulation, and the use of geophysical and remote sensing techniques to interpret subsurface and surface geology. The 8th Conference diverged from past conferences in that a unifying theme was selected. Because ancient major terrane or cratonic boundaries are often postulated to be fault zones which are subsequently reactivated, the conference was organized to examine all aspects of ancient continental margins and terrane boundaries and to compare younger (Mesozoic) ones, about which more is known, with older (Paleozoic and Precambrian) ones. Moreover, because the 8th Conference was held in the northwestern United States, a greater emphasis was placed on the Mesozoic margin of western North America and the North American shield. The seven oral sessions and four poster sessions all dealt with aspects of the conference theme: characterization and comparison of ancient continental margins. The organizers extend their thanks to those individuals who graciously consented to serve as moderators for the oral sessions: John M. Bartley, Mark S. Gettings, M. Charles Gilbert, John M. Guilbert, Donald W. Hyndman, William P. Leeman, Robert Mason, and A. Krishna Sinha. The program with abstracts volume was prepared by S. E. Lewis and M. J. Bartholomew.

Book Metallogeny and Mineral Deposits of the Nelson Rossland Map Area

Download or read book Metallogeny and Mineral Deposits of the Nelson Rossland Map Area written by Trygve Höy and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Jurassic Rossland Group in south-east British Columbia is a volcanic arc succession that contains a variety of deposits typical of volcanic arcs. This report focusses on deposits in the Group, particularly on those that have had recent exploration, and on the metallogeny of the Nelson-Rossland map area. The report first reviews the regional geology of the area and describes a number of type examples of mineral deposits in Rossland Group rocks & others in the area. These include carbonate-hosted deposits, volcanogenic massive sulphides, porphyry copper-gold deposits, skarns, and gold-quartz & polymetallic veins. The principal focus is on the deposits of the Rossland copper/gold mining camp, the second largest lode gold producing camp in the province. The regional geology around Rossland is summarized, the main deposit types are described, and a model for intrusive-related gold-sulphide veins is presented. Appendices include a table of mineral occurrences in the area, production data for the area's metallic deposits, a petrographic report, analyses of samples, reports on geochronological dating & isotope characterization, and fluid inclusion data.

Book Ore Deposits Tectonics and Metallogeny in the Canadian Cordillera

Download or read book Ore Deposits Tectonics and Metallogeny in the Canadian Cordillera written by W. J. McMillan and published by Province of British Columbia, Mineral Resources Division. This book was released on 1991 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report provides a tectonic and mineral deposit overview, then discusses deposits in North American rocks, followed by deposits formed in accreted and suspect' terrains; deposits formed at or near the sea floor or from hot springs; and those formed in successively deeper zones as magmatic deposits, vein to replacement deposits, skarns, and porphyries. Deposits within and directly linked to intrusive rocks (magmatic, porphyries, skarns), replacement deposits, possible manto deposits, deep to shallow veins and related deposits formed at the surface, volcanogenic massive sulphides and sedex deposits are then discussed. Sedimentary-hosted deposits of gypsum, barite, phosphate and other industrial minerals are not covered, nor are coal, uranium, pegmatite-hosted deposits, molybdenum prophyries or some of the less common deposit types such as carbonatites, tin greisens, and placers.
