Book Geo information System Analysis and Design for Research Application in Sustainable Agriculture at Sub regional Level

Download or read book Geo information System Analysis and Design for Research Application in Sustainable Agriculture at Sub regional Level written by R. P. de OLIVEIRA and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This document aims to provide a geo-information systems analysis and design for a research tool in sustainable agriculture at the sub-regional level. The perspective is to explore the interaction of the research user with both soil erosion and plant production simulation models in order to give insights on potential indicators for sustainable practces in agriculture. The problem definition relating sustainability questions with requirements for information technology is presented in chapter one, as a basis for these research questions, objectives, and methology. A literature review of sustainability from global to local levels was very useful to understand, distinguish and identify involved elements, relationships, and processes. This exercise have generateda solid foundation for the subsequent application abstraction and geo-information systems analysis. The use of the object-oriented technology applied to system analysis and design was exerciced through the Rational Rose Case Tool, which could validate the definitions for object classes and relationships by means of diagrams that depict scenarios of critical interactions of the proposed system. At this phase, an expansion of the adopted method was required in order to deal with the geometric data component in geographic applications. The translation of the results form object-oriented analysis into a relational database model could offer a logical model representing a simple but useful data structure as in chapter four.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines one of the most important and complex of the world's tropical rainforest regions: the greater Panama Canal Watershed. The Rio Chagres is the primary water source for operating the Canal, and supplies potable water for municipal use and electricity generation, but science has left this important national resource largely unstudied. The text promotes understanding of the physical and ecological components of an isolated and largely pristine tropical rainforest.

Book Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System

Download or read book Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System written by A. M. Chandra and published by Alpha Science International, Limited. This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This comprehensive textbook on Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System (GIS) presents the fundamentals of the emerging technology of remote sensing combined with GIS. It provides sufficient knowledge of these technologies applied in different fields avoiding voluminous details required at research level. The first part introduces the basics of remote sensing leading up to data analysis. An exhaustive discussion on various types of sensors and their uses has been included to make the readers understand clearly their utilities. The second part presents the highly technical field of Geographic Information System, a tool that now finds applications in almost all fields of engineering, science, geography, planning, and decision-making.

Book Using Geographical Information Systems GIS to Create an Agroclimatic Zone Map for Soroti District

Download or read book Using Geographical Information Systems GIS to Create an Agroclimatic Zone Map for Soroti District written by Balungi Francis and published by . This book was released on 2020-12-16 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Balungi Francis has done research in agro-climatic zoning with emphasis on its application to agriculture. With illustrations, Balungi combat Climate change in a different way never seen before. The findings in his bestselling book on climate change can assist both agriculturalists and policy makers by showing areas that are climatologically suitable for particular crops and to guide the work of planners and farmers. It can also be used to map out geographical areas that are suitable for various agricultural alternatives and also to mitigate the variability of rainfall and the minimal communication of the predicated seasonal climate in various districts.

Book The Use of a Geographic Information System and Remote Sensing Technology for Monitoring Land Use and Soil Carbon Change in the Subtropical Dry Forest Life Zone of Puerto Rico

Download or read book The Use of a Geographic Information System and Remote Sensing Technology for Monitoring Land Use and Soil Carbon Change in the Subtropical Dry Forest Life Zone of Puerto Rico written by Linda L. Velez-Rodriguez and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Aerial photography, one of the first form of remote sensing technology, has long been an invaluable means to monitor activities and conditions at the Earth's surface. Geographic Information Systems or GIS is the use of computers in showing and manipulating spatial data. This report will present the use of geographic information systems and remote sensing technology for monitoring land use and soil carbon change in the subtropical dry forest life zone of Puerto Rico. This research included the south of Puerto Rico that belongs to the subtropical dry forest life zone. The Guanica Commonwealth Forest Biosphere Reserve and the Jobos Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve are study in detail, because of its location in the subtropical dry forest life zone. As the primary source of data was used aerial photography, digital multispectral imageries, soil samples, soil survey maps, field inspections, and differential global positioning system (DGPS) observations. With the collected data was build a digital data base and relating it with a GIS."--Page 5.

Book Geospatial Technologies for Crops and Soils

Download or read book Geospatial Technologies for Crops and Soils written by Tarik Mitran and published by Springer. This book was released on 2021-10-26 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The sustainable development of the agriculture sector is the only option to meet the demands of increased and economically viable production in a changing climate. This means there is a need to introduce the latest technologies to enhance production, and also help policymakers make decisions for the future. Geospatial technologies & tools, such as remote sensing, geographical information systems (GIS), global positioning systems (GPS), and mobile & web applications, provide unique capabilities to analyze multi-scale, multi-temporal datasets, and support decision-making in sustainable agriculture development and natural resources management. Further, the availability of reliable and timely geospatial information on natural resources and environmental conditions is essential for sustainable agricultural development and food security. Since remote sensing solutions are fast, non-destructive and have large spatial coverage, they can play a significant role in the identification, inventory, and mapping of land resources. Over the past four decades, remote sensing has proved to be a cost-effective and powerful tool to assess crop and soil properties in varying spatial and temporal scales using both visual and digital techniques. Satellite remote sensing coupled with GIS & mobile-app based positional information has emerged as an efficient tool for optimizing input resources, and minimizing cost of production and risk of biotic/ abiotic factors nature to promote sustainable agriculture. This book comprehensively documents the applications of space-based technologies for crop and soil assessments for the sustainable development of agriculture.
