Here is a sampling of what you will find in the book: *** You can be as happy as you want. In fact, you can be a lot happier than that. *** Never invite trouble. In fact, don't even tell it where you live. *** A shared hurt is diminished. *** You don't know where to find happiness? Well, what makes you happy? Look there. *** Unable to express themselves, lonely people walk around in crowds surrounded by other lonely people unable to express themselves. Reach out. Connect. *** Live for today. Love for today. *** If you have one true friend, you are truly blessed. *** Misery is basically the inability to cope with life's problems. *** Giggles chase away gloom. *** Entertain your happy thoughts. *** Congratulate yourself. You are you, and that's pretty darn amazing. *** A little good heals a lot of bad. *** Upgrade your life frequently. I'm not version 2.0. I'm version 2,195,467.0. Next update is right now. As usual. *** Problems aren't fatal. Deal with them and move on. *** Who are you, I cried. I am your youth, your spirit, your strength. Let me in. *** Do your best. You deserve your best. *** Most things take practice to perfect. A positive attitude is one of them. Practice smiling. Practice remembering good times. Practice giving compliments. Don't worry. It gets easier over time. *** With every storm, you grow stronger. *** Some doors are locked for a reason. Others need to be kicked down. *** Nothing is more important than happiness. *** With money comes happiness. Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. *** Regret should be a very small part of your life. *** Money can do a lot of good if used right. Money can cause a lot of pain if used wrong. *** You can't do everything, but you can always do something. What "something" would you like to do? *** A shift in perspective can often change a perception, especially when the shift is to how the other guy views things. *** The language of the heart contains no words. *** If you can buy it, it really isn't important. *** There is no better happiness than helping others. *** Breathe deep and let go. *** Happiness is outgoing. It wants to share with everyone. Every cloud is beautiful, even those without silver linings. *** Take a minute to reminisce on the good times. Do that several times per day. *** Close your eyes and watch your memories float by. Good times. Good times. *** Give of yourself. You have so much to share. *** The first step is the most important. *** Start each day with a smile and a cheerful disposition. *** Live each moment. *** Get off your mental butt and make a change today. *** Feel good about your life. What you think is much more important than what others think. *** Don't tolerate the bad. Remove it or remove yourself. *** You can't change the cards you've been dealt. But you can learn how to play them the best way possible. *** Trouble strengthens us. *** Hold tight to your dreams. Make them part of you. *** Every today is a prequel of every tomorrow. *** Your worth does not come from others. *** Doing nothing can be a really good time. *** Joy begins the moment you decide to change. *** Too many violins; not enough banjos. *** If you don't like it, don't give it to somebody else. *** There are no instructions. *** You must build your happiness as you see fit. *** You have a helping hand at the end of each arm. ***

Book Comfort for Christians

Download or read book Comfort for Christians written by Arthur Pink and published by Sovereign Grace Publishers,. This book was released on 2007-01-25 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The work unto which the servant of Christ is called is many sided. Not only is he to preach the Gospel to the unsaved, to feed God's people with knowledge and understanding (Jer. 3:15), and to take up the stumbling stone out of their way (Isa. 57:14), but he is also charged to "cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show My people their transgression" (Isa. 58:1 and cf. 1 Tim. 4:2). While another important part of his commission is stated in, "Comfort ye, My people, said your God" (Isa. 40:1). What an honorable title, "My people!" What an assuring relationship: "your God!" What a pleasant task: "comfort ye My people!" A threefold reason may be suggested for the duplicating of the charge. First, because sometimes the souls of believers refuse to be comforted (Psa. 77:2), and the consolation needs to be repeated. Second, to press this duty the more emphatically upon the preacher's heart, that he need not be sparing in administering cheer. Third, to assure us how heartily desirous God himself is that His people should be of good cheer (Phil. 4:4). God has a "people," the objects of His special favor: a company whom He has taken into such intimate relationship unto Himself that He calls them "My people." Often they are disconsolate: because of their natural corruption's, the temptations of Satan, the cruel treatment of the world, the low state of Christ's cause upon earth. The "God of all comfort" (2 Cor. 1:3) is very tender of them, and it is His revealed will that His servants should bind up the brokenhearted and pour the balm of Gilead into their wounds. What cause have we to exclaim "Who is a God like unto Thee!" (Micah 7:18), who has provided for the comfort of those who were rebels against His government and transgressors of His Law. The contents of this little volume have appeared from time to time in our monthly magazine during the last thirty years. They were, previously, sermons which we preached long ago in the U.S.A. and Australia. Here and there is an expression (especially where Prophecy is touched upon) that we would not use today; but since the Lord was pleased to bless them in their original form to not a few of His distressed people, we have not revised them. May it please Him to speak peace by them to afflicted souls today, and the glory shall be His alone. Pink (1890-1953) was a Baptist Preacher in England, Australia, and the United States. He is most famous for his book The Sovereignty of God. After its advent, he, assisted by his editor Mr. I. Herendeen, launched his yearly publication, Studies in the Scriptures in 1921. These continued until his death, totaling altogether 33 volumes of 288 pp. each. Most of Pink's books are taken from these yearly volumes (written monthly in 24 page format).

Book On Grief and Grieving

Download or read book On Grief and Grieving written by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2014-08-12 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ten years after the death of Elisabeth K bler-Ross, this commemorative edition of her final book combines practical wisdom, case studies, and the authors' own experiences and spiritual insight to explain how the process of grieving helps us live with loss. Includes a new introduction and resources section. Elisabeth K bler-Ross's On Death and Dying changed the way we talk about the end of life. Before her own death in 2004, she and David Kessler completed On Grief and Grieving, which looks at the way we experience the process of grief. Just as On Death and Dying taught us the five stages of death--denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance--On Grief and Grieving applies these stages to the grieving process and weaves together theory, inspiration, and practical advice, including sections on sadness, hauntings, dreams, isolation, and healing. This is "a fitting finale and tribute to the acknowledged expert on end-of-life matters" (Good Housekeeping).

Book excerpt: Christians know that God loves them, but can easily feel that he is perpetually disappointed and frustrated, maybe even close to giving up on them. As a result, they focus a lot—and rightly so—on what Jesus has done to appease God’s wrath for sin. But how does Jesus Christ actually feel about his people amid all their sins and failures? This book draws us to Matthew 11, where Jesus describes himself as “gentle and lowly in heart,” longing for his people to find rest in him. The gospel flows from God’s deepest heart for his people, a heart of tender love for the sinful and suffering. These chapters take readers into the depths of Christ’s very heart for sinners, diving deep into Bible passages that speak of who Christ is and encouraging readers with the affections of Christ for his people. His longing heart for sinners comforts and sustains readers in their up-and-down lives.
