Book Financial Literacy for Generation Z

Download or read book Financial Literacy for Generation Z written by Kenneth O. Doyle Ph.D. and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2019-09-19 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This indispensable resource explains principles of financial planning and financial psychology to help teens and young adults make good financial decisions now and achieve their financial goals. Financial literacy for savvy teens and young adults means meeting them where they are, which is in high school and college. It also means understanding how they differ from their Gen X and elder millennial parents. For example, they tend to be debt-averse, thrifty, and responsible but may err on the side of taking too little risk, such as not investing early enough. This book uses economics and psychology to help Generation Z students make better decisions throughout their lives and especially in their formative years. Financial Literacy for Generation Z addresses decisions students have to make while still in school, after graduation, and later, with the greatest emphasis on the decisions closest at hand to them. It encompasses not just money talk—for example, how much to contribute to your 401(k)—but also decisions that are directly connected to money, such as choosing a major and a career, building a credit record, and managing your first real income.

Book Real World Finance Boost Your Financial Literacy as All Schools Have Failed to Do

Download or read book Real World Finance Boost Your Financial Literacy as All Schools Have Failed to Do written by Jerry L. Copley and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2023-06-13 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a former mathematics teacher and a master's degree recipient, I have witnessed a decline in basic mathematical abilities and financial literacy over the past twenty years. It is disheartening. To witness the anxieties people struggle with in their everyday lives--especially when due to reliance on credit--prompted me to do something. I decided to write a book to break down even complex financial concepts into understandable terms. Over the years, I have talked with business owners, bank mortgage lenders, sales professionals, finance managers, and college and high school students, along with coworkers, about the many financial topics individuals encounter throughout their lives. To be honest, I was somewhat surprised by the lack of understanding around basic financial concepts like budgeting, compensation and remuneration, insurance, credit, investments, and even taxation. Education has always been an integral part of my life. I believe in the total education of the individual, not just subject-matter expertise. An education that can last throughout a lifetime is complex yet simple, timeless yet timely, and most importantly, it builds a foundation that is needed for ultimate success. This book, Real World Finance: Boost Your Financial Literacy as All Schools Have Failed to Do, builds the financial education that seems to be missing from society today. It details financial concepts necessary to guide the individual through a lifetime of experiences and endeavors. The financial topics include budgets, credit, insurance, investments, retirement, and worker compensation with fringe benefits and taxes, all tailored to an individual's personal financial life. As a former tax associate, I have assisted hundreds with their tax returns. In too many cases, individuals did not know how to fill out, complete, and/or file their required tax return. Some didn't even know what their W-2 was! I have become determined to increase their financial literacy as I did with the thousands of students I taught. Real World Finance: Boost Your Financial Literacy as All Schools Have Failed to Do explains topics using real-world examples from employee compensation and lease versus purchase to loans, insurance, retirement, and the importance of investment to taxation. Employing this method breaks down any intimidation of mathematics (encountered by many of my former students and the general population) while teaching necessary financial concepts and calculations needed for everyday living--purchasing a car, buying insurance, setting up a budget, comparing total compensation from various job opportunities, retirement and investing, filing tax returns, comparing leasing, renting versus ownership, and more. A Walmart employee I recently spoke with told me he had to learn many of these concepts for himself after suffering financial hardship. He wished he would have been introduced to these concepts in school. When I informed him I had taught many of the topics contained in Real World Finance: Boost Your Financial Literacy as All Schools Have Failed to Do to my students, he responded, "I wish I had you as a teacher." I want to help more people like the Walmart employee and others. I sincerely think they will not only benefit from the topics--they will find them interesting and the narrative informative. Thank you in advance for taking the time to look at Real World Finance: Boost Your Financial Literacy as All Schools Have Failed to Do!

Book Financial Health Demystified

Download or read book Financial Health Demystified written by Jb Malatji and published by . This book was released on 2024-01-14 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The genesis of knowledge, comprehension, and sagacity emerges within the crucible of challenges and adversities. Anchored by a sanguine perspective on existence and a resolute commitment to self-improvement, an unwavering resolve materializes, propelling one toward the attainment of set objectives. While talent may engender pecuniary gains through skill refinement and exhibition, it is the assimilation of knowledge and comprehension that safeguards and augments accrued financial resources. Instances of individuals within the realm of sports or the creative industry, endowed with prodigious talents in their craft, yet ultimately fading into anonymity, underscore the significance of knowledge and understanding in preserving and expanding acquired wealth. Some among them entrusted their financial fortunes to others, resulting in mismanagement. Financial literacy encompasses the embrace of fundamental financial comprehension, equipping individuals to navigate the intricate terrain of financial terminology and challenges. Finance constitutes an economic vernacular indispensable for all those seeking engagement in financial and economic realms, particularly those aspiring to cultivate enduring prosperity. It is imperative to clarify that I do not hold the credentials of a Financial Advisor, and the contents of this manuscript are not intended to offer accredited counsel on wealth generation. The precipice separating failure from triumph finds its locus in wisdom. Adeptness in knowledge is commendable, but the apex lies in the realm of sagacity. The fruition of dreams transpires through the conviction harboured by individuals who harnessed their self-belief into concrete achievements. The endowment of faith and the capacity to learn are bestowed upon all; their judicious employment enables us to realize our fullest potential. Possessing a discerning eye for auspicious opportunities and the ability to seize them shapes the trajectory of those endowed with vision, valour, audacity, faith, and empathy. Such attributes are paramount for navigating the journey of prosperity. The mental landscape, encompassing our attitude towards affluence and opulence, governs our comportment in alignment with our aspirations. The nexus between the narratives of wealth accumulation and pathways to self-actualization warrants vigilant scrutiny. While myriad impediments confront success, those resolute in self-empowerment possess an inherent advantage. Individuals aspiring to reshape their financial destinies must embark upon a re-evaluation of their present fiscal circumstances.

Book Financial Literacy and Money Script

Download or read book Financial Literacy and Money Script written by Christine Sahadeo and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-19 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the financial crisis, everyone is more aware of the need to be financially literate. This book covers a wide range of topics and assures the reader that understanding of one’s money script and more particularly making changes (if necessary) would result in more effective and responsible managing and handling of one’s financial affairs. It is a misnomer that graduates of tertiary education are financially literate or are qualified to make financial decisions. In fact, they are particularly vulnerable in making poor financial decisions as many students do not undertake courses in financial education and they therefore have limited financial knowledge. Training in financial literacy through university-based financial education programs is one method of addressing personal finances and financial stress among students. This book presents the key components of financial education designed to address the growing concerns associated with high levels of debt, abuse of credit cards, home ownership, savings and investments, risk management, and retirement. The chapters on entrepreneurship and business planning provide a roadmap for successful new ventures. The book is an excellent resource for students, those interested in developing or enhancing their understanding of money matters and financial wellbeing, and trainers involved in financial education, counseling, and planning.
