Book Electromagnetism and the Structure of Matter

Download or read book Electromagnetism and the Structure of Matter written by Daniele Funaro and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2008 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The classical theory of electromagnetism is entirely revised in this book by proposing a variant of Maxwell equations that allows solitonic solutions (photons). The Lagrangian is the standard one, but it is minimized on a constrained space that enforces the wave packets to follow the rules of geometrical optics. Exact solutions are explicitly shown; this opens a completely new perspective for the study of light wave phenomena. In the framework of general relativity, the equations are written in covariant form. A coupling with the metric is obtained through the Einstein equation, whose solutions are computed exactly in a lot of original situations. Finally, the explicit construction of elementary particles, consisting of rotating photons, is indicated. The results agree qualitatively and quantitatively with what it is actually observed. This opens the path to an understanding of the structure of matter and its properties, also aimed to provide a causal explanation to quantum phenomena.

Book Advanced Electromagnetism Foundations Theory And Applications

Download or read book Advanced Electromagnetism Foundations Theory And Applications written by Terence William Barrett and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995-11-16 with total page 807 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced Electromagnetism: Foundations, Theory and Applications treats what is conventionally called electromagnetism or Maxwell's theory within the context of gauge theory or Yang-Mills theory. A major theme of this book is that fields are not stand-alone entities but are defined by their boundary conditions. The book has practical relevance to efficient antenna design, the understanding of forces and stresses in high energy pulses, ring laser gyros, high speed computer logic elements, efficient transfer of power, parametric conversion, and many other devices and systems. Conventional electromagnetism is shown to be an underdeveloped, rather than a completely developed, field of endeavor, with major challenges in development still to be met.

"The present book is intended," Einstein wrote in 1916, "as far as possible, to give an exact insight into the theory of Relativity to those readers who, from a general scientific and philosophical point of view, are interested in the theory, but who are not conversant with the mathematical apparatus of theoretical physics." The Special and General Theory by Albert Einstein: "The Special and General Theory" is Albert Einstein's groundbreaking work that revolutionized the field of physics. In this seminal book, Einstein presents his theories of relativity, offering profound insights into the fundamental nature of space, time, and gravity. With clarity and intellectual rigor, Einstein's work continues to be a cornerstone of modern physics and a testament to his genius. Key Aspects of the Book "The Special and General Theory": Theory of Relativity: Einstein's book delves into the concepts of special and general relativity, providing a comprehensive explanation of the fundamental principles that govern the behavior of objects in space and time. Unifying the Physical World: The book explores Einstein's attempts to reconcile Newtonian mechanics with electromagnetism, offering a unified framework that encompasses both the macroscopic and microscopic aspects of the universe. Paradigm Shift in Physics: By challenging traditional notions of space, time, and gravity, Einstein's theories introduced a paradigm shift in physics, providing a new understanding of the cosmos and laying the foundation for numerous scientific advancements. Book From Electrostatics to Optics

Download or read book From Electrostatics to Optics written by Günter Scharf and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-02-09 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After a historical introduction and mathematical preliminaries the book turns to electrostatics in vacuum, whereby Maxwells equations are not postulated as axioms, but deduced from electrostatics plus Lorentz invariance. These general ideas are then illustrated by many applications, radiation phenomena in particular. Chapter 4 is devoted to the completely different subject of phenomenological electrodynamics of matter, with the equations derived by spatial averaging, assuming a classical model for the atomic structure of matter. The chapter on optics is not treated as an independent field, but rather an application of Chapter 4, where significant themes such as wave optics, light scattering, geometrical optics, diffraction theory, and the laser are discussed. Finally, an epilogue relates the classical theory to modern quantum electrodynamics.
