Book American National Standard

Download or read book American National Standard written by American Nuclear Society. Standards Committee Working Group ANS-54.1 and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ANS 54.1-2020 defines safety objectives; sodium fast reactor design criteria (SFRDCs); selection criteria for licensing-basis events; and criteria for the classification of structures, systems, and components (SSCs) that can be used by designers and regulators of SFR nuclear power plants. It is intended to provide the necessary guidance to the designer in order to "bridge" the existing light water reactor-focused general design criteria (GDCs) contained in Appendix A to 10 CFR 50 and other regulatory requirements to the development of their respective principal design criteria, while retaining the underlying safety principles of the GDCs.

Book General Design Safety Principles for Nuclear Power Plants

Download or read book General Design Safety Principles for Nuclear Power Plants written by International Atomic Energy Agency and published by Bernan Press(PA). This book was released on 1986 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The basic safety approach of defence in depth and high functional system availability is addressed in this guide. Attention is also paid to the safety implications of operator actions and their consideration in the design.

Book Safety Design Criteria for Industrial Plants

Download or read book Safety Design Criteria for Industrial Plants written by Antonio Naviglio and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-07-17 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1989: A generalization and rationalization of the main safety design criteria and safety analysis methodologies developed in nuclear aerospace and chemical engineering is presented in two comprehensive volumes. The concepts of risk, damage and probability of hazardous events are introduced. Risks connected with the use of main harmful substances are quantitatively identified. The methods employed for the safety analyses are described, together with the methodologies for seismic analyses and for Probabilistic Risk Assessment. The main criteria for protection of plants from internal and external events are introduced and described. In addition, the problem of emergency planning is considered. This book is particularly intended for engineers working in the nuclear field, in chemical industries, in industrial plants, in fuel storages and with high-risk substances, as well as for engineers operating in licensing organizations and for inspectors.

Book Design Aspects of Radiation Protection for Nuclear Power Plants

Download or read book Design Aspects of Radiation Protection for Nuclear Power Plants written by International Atomic Energy Agency and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Provides principles and practical details on the provisions to be made in the design of nuclear power plants to protect site personnel and the general public from ionizing radiation during operational states and accident conditions.

Book American National Standard

Download or read book American National Standard written by American Nuclear Society. Standards Committee Working Group ANS-51.1 and published by . This book was released on with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This standard establishes the nuclear safety criteria and functional design requirements of structures, systems, and components of stationary pressurized water reactor (PWR) power plants. Operations, maintenance, and testing requirements are covered only to the extent that they affect design provisions. A methodology is given for classifying all equipment into one of three Safety Classes according to its importance to nuclear safety or into a Non-Nuclear Safety Class. Another methodology is given for identifying and categorizing into one of five Plant Conditions the normal operations and events for which the plant shall be designed. Acceptance criteria are given for each Plant Condition. Specific design requirements are given for each major system in a typical plant. These requirements are related to other, more specific design standards and are intended to amplify the criteria given in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 10, "Energy," Part 50, "Licensing of Production and Utilization Facilities," Appendix A, "General Design Criteria for Nuclear Power Plants".

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ANS 58.9-1981 (R2020) provides criteria for the designer which interpret the requirements of Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 50, "Licensing of Production and Utilization Facilities," Appendix A, "General Design Criteria for Nuclear Power Plants," with respect to design against single failures in safety-related Light Water Reactor (LWR) fluid systems. Means of treating both active and passive failures are addressed for safety-related fluid systems following various initiating events. Current acceptable practice is used as a basis for these criteria.
