Book Basic Physics Of Radiotracers

Download or read book Basic Physics Of Radiotracers written by Earl W. Barnes and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-07-28 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The opportunity to present the physics of radioactive processes in some detail apart from topics such as instrumentation which conventionally compete with it for spacer is most welcome. The material is intended to give a fairly complete introduction to radiation physics to those who which to have more than a descriptive understanding of the subject. Although it is possible to work one’s way through much of the subject matter without having any previous physics background, some prior acquaintance with modern physics is desirable. A familiarity with calculus and differential equations is also assumed. Volume I begins with a brief description of classical physics, it’s extension to special relativity and quantum mechanics, and an introduction to basic atomic and nuclear concepts. A thorough discussion of atomic structure follows with emphasis on the theory of the multielectron atom, characteristic X-rays, and the Auger effect. Volume II treats the subjects of nuclear structure, nuclear decay processes, the interaction of radiation with matter, and the mathematics of radioactive decay.

Book Compartmental Distribution Of Radiotracers

Download or read book Compartmental Distribution Of Radiotracers written by James S. Robertson and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-10-19 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The availability of isotopic varieties of the chemical elements has had a strong impact on many branches of science. For some procedures isotopic tracers make possible methods that are simply easier or more accurate or more convenient than other methods. More importantly, however, there are some processes, particularly those involving steady-state conditions, that before the advent of isotopic tracers were considered to be not accessible to investigation, but which can be studied with these tracers. In biological studies the radioactive tracers have been especially useful because external detection methods can be employed in noninvasive or minimally invasive studies.

Book Molecular Imaging

    Book Details:
  • Author : Shankar Vallabhajosula
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2009-07-13
  • ISBN : 3540767355
  • Pages : 379 pages

Download or read book Molecular Imaging written by Shankar Vallabhajosula and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-07-13 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radioisotope-based molecular imaging probes provide unprecedented insight into biochemistry and function involved in both normal and disease states of living systems, with unbiased in vivo measurement of regional radiotracer activities offering very high specificity and sensitivity. No other molecular imaging technology including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) can provide such high sensitivity and specificity at a tracer level. The applications of this technology can be very broad ranging from drug development, pharmacokinetics, clinical investigations, and finally to routine diagnostics in radiology. The design and the development of radiopharmaceuticals for molecular imaging studies using PET/MicroPET or SPECT/MicroSPECT are a unique challenge. This book is intended for a broad audience and written with the main purpose of educating the reader on various aspects including potential clinical utility, limitations of drug development, and regulatory compliance and approvals.

Book Receptor Binding Radiotracers 1982

Download or read book Receptor Binding Radiotracers 1982 written by William C. Eckelman and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-11-22 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This series of books on Radiotracers in Biology and Medicine is on the one hand an unbelievably expansive enterprise and on the other hand, a most noble one as well. Tools to probe biology have developed at an accelerating rate. Hevesy pioneered the application of radioisotopes to the study of chemical processes, and since that time radioisotopic methodology has probably contributed as much as any other methodology to the analysis of the fine structure of biologic systems. Radioisotopic methodologies represent powerful tools for the determination of virtually any process of biologic interest. It should not be surprising, therefore, that any effort to encompass all aspects of radiotracer methodology is both desirable in the extreme and doomed to at least some degree of inherent failure. The current series is assuredly a success relative to the breadth of topics which range from in depth treatise of fundamental science or abstract concepts to detailed and specific applications, such as those medicine or even to the extreme of the methodology for sacrifice of anaimals as part of a radiotracer distribution study.
