Book Sector Coupling Energy Sustainable Economy of the Future

Download or read book Sector Coupling Energy Sustainable Economy of the Future written by Przemyslaw Komarnicki and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-11-29 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The core of the book is the presentation of a systematic, continuous and logical chain into the coupled total energy system (GES) of the future, which will lead to the fully sustainable use of renewable energies. Thus, unified models are proposed that are applicable to the subsystems/sectors throughout and allow the optimization of the entire GES. Appropriate algorithms and approaches are illustrated with numerous examples. This is embedded in the context of efforts to fully integrate energy generated from renewable sources into the GES. The overarching role of IT systems for secure operations has been emphasized in the book. The relevance of the correct mapping of technologies to use cases is elaborated and necessary steps derived from this are considered technically and organizationally (standardization). Special attention is paid to the didactic presentation of the material in order to present this new, difficult and complex problem "as simple as possible, but not simpler" [according to Einstein].

Book Designing the Energy System of the Future

Download or read book Designing the Energy System of the Future written by Wolfgang Eberhardt and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2021-03-01 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Designing the Energy System of the Future, Volume 18, explores how nanotechnology is used to solve important energy challenges, including the development of new technologies for transport systems and the generation of chemical fuels that do not increase CO2 content. Nanoscience is at the heart of many of these processes and solutions, including fuel cells, batteries, hydrogen storage, photocatalytic water splitting, and advanced materials for solar cells. As the necessity for a secure, sustainable and affordable supply of energy for a growing population looms front and center, this book is an ideal reference on new solutions. While the driver for these changes are global, the solutions for each country will have to be individualized depending on geography and available energy resources. In general, the move is towards a de-carbonization of the energy system, i.e. abandoning or replacing most fossil sources of energy with renewables. Nanotechnology, and the use of nanomaterials, will play a key role in these solutions. Outlines how nanotechnology advances are at the core of creating a secure, sustainable and affordable supply of energy worldwide Explores how the unique properties of nanomaterials make them highly suitable for applications in energy system design Discusses the major challenges in creating a globally efficient energy system and suggests how nanotechnology can provide solutions

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For multi-user PDF licensing, please contact customer service. Energy touches our lives in countless ways and its costs are felt when we fill up at the gas pump, pay our home heating bills, and keep businesses both large and small running. There are long-term costs as well: to the environment, as natural resources are depleted and pollution contributes to global climate change, and to national security and independence, as many of the world's current energy sources are increasingly concentrated in geopolitically unstable regions. The country's challenge is to develop an energy portfolio that addresses these concerns while still providing sufficient, affordable energy reserves for the nation. The United States has enormous resources to put behind solutions to this energy challenge; the dilemma is to identify which solutions are the right ones. Before deciding which energy technologies to develop, and on what timeline, we need to understand them better. America's Energy Future analyzes the potential of a wide range of technologies for generation, distribution, and conservation of energy. This book considers technologies to increase energy efficiency, coal-fired power generation, nuclear power, renewable energy, oil and natural gas, and alternative transportation fuels. It offers a detailed assessment of the associated impacts and projected costs of implementing each technology and categorizes them into three time frames for implementation.

Book America s Energy Future

    Book Details:
  • Author : National Research Council
  • Publisher : National Academies Press
  • Release : 2010-01-14
  • ISBN : 0309141451
  • Pages : 208 pages

Download or read book America s Energy Future written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2010-01-14 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Energy production and use touch our lives in countless ways. We are reminded of the cost of energy every time we fill up at the gas pump, pay an electricity bill, or purchase an airline ticket. Energy use also has important indirect impacts, not all of which are reflected in current energy prices: depletion of natural resources, degradation of the environment, and threats to national security arising from a growing dependence on geopolitically unstable regions for some of our energy supplies. These indirect impacts could increase in the future if the demand for energy rises faster than available energy supplies. Our nation's challenge is to develop an energy portfolio that reduces these impacts while providing sufficient and affordable energy supplies to sustain our future economic prosperity. The United States has enormous economic and intellectual resources that can be brought to bear on these challenges through a sustained national effort in the decades ahead. America's Energy Future is intended to inform the development of wise energy policies by fostering a better understanding of technological options for increasing energy supplies and improving the efficiency of energy use. This summary edition of the book will also be a useful resource for professionals working in the energy industry or involved in advocacy and researchers and academics in energy-related fields of study. America's Energy Future examines the deployment potential, costs, barriers, and impacts of energy supply and end-use technologies during the next two to three decades, including energy efficiency, alternative transportation fuels, renewable energy, fossil fuel energy, and nuclear energy, as well as technologies for improving the nation's electrical transmission and distribution systems.
