Book Building the Most Complex Structure on Earth

Download or read book Building the Most Complex Structure on Earth written by Nelson R Cabej and published by Newnes. This book was released on 2013-04-01 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Building the Most Complex Structure on Earth provides readers with a basic biological education an easy and understandable introduction into a new epigenetic theory of development and evolution. This is a novel theory that describes the epigenetic mechanisms of the development and evolution of animals and explains the colossal evolution and diversification of animals from a new post-genetic perspective. Modern biology has demonstrated the existence of a common genetic toolkit in the animal kingdom, but neither the number of genes nor the evolution of new genes is responsible for the development and evolution of animals. The failure to understand how the same genetic toolkit is used to produce millions of widely different animal forms remains a perplexing conundrum in modern biology. The novel theory shows that the development and evolution of the animal kingdom are functions of epigenetic mechanisms, which are the competent users of the genetic toolkit. Provides a comprehensive view of the epigenetic aspects of reproduction, development, and evolution. Highly rigorous, but simple enough for readers with only a basic knowledge of biology.

Book A Fifteen somite Human Embryo

Download or read book A Fifteen somite Human Embryo written by Humio Mizoguti and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Histological observations of human embryos hitherto have been carried out using paraffin sections of 5 to 10 μm thickness, stained with the H-E method or simply with carmine. Because of the thickness, cells are arranged in 2 or 3 layers in one section and the histological details are not always clear. This book provides detailed morphological features of a very well preserved human embryo with fifteen somites. The sections are about 0.75 μm thick and stained with toluidine blue. The thinness of sections and clearness of staining reveal the histological details of this embryo very accurately. A complete set of high quality photomicrographs are presented for each of the selected sections. The high resolution of the photomicrographs will enable easy comparison with the literature. The clear presentation in this book of embryonic development is increasingly important and highly relevant for in-vitro fertilization, and thus of interest to reproductive biologists as well as anatomists.

Book Textbook of Clinical Embryology

Download or read book Textbook of Clinical Embryology written by Kevin Coward and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2013-10-31 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The success of Assisted Reproductive Technology is critically dependent upon the use of well optimized protocols, based upon sound scientific reasoning, empirical observations and evidence of clinical efficacy. Recently, the treatment of infertility has experienced a revolution, with the routine adoption of increasingly specialized molecular biological techniques and advanced methods for the manipulation of gametes and embryos. This textbook – inspired by the postgraduate degree program at the University of Oxford – guides students through the multidisciplinary syllabus essential to ART laboratory practice, from basic culture techniques and micromanipulation to laboratory management and quality assurance, and from endocrinology to molecular biology and research methods. Written for all levels of IVF practitioners, reproductive biologists and technologists involved in human reproductive science, it can be used as a reference manual for all IVF labs and as a textbook by undergraduates, advanced students, scientists and professionals involved in gamete, embryo or stem cell biology.

Book Epigenetic Principles of Evolution

Download or read book Epigenetic Principles of Evolution written by Nelson R Cabej and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-11-22 with total page 847 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first and only book, so far, to deal with the causal basis of evolution from an epigenetic view. By revealing the epigenetic "user" of the "genetic toolkit", this book demonstrates the primacy of epigenetic mechanisms and epigenetic information in generating evolutionary novelties. The author convincingly supports his theory with a host of examples from the most varied fields of biology, by emphasizing changes in developmental pathways as the basic source of evolutionary change in metazoans. Original and thought provoking--a radically new theory that overcomes the present difficulties of the theory of evolution Is the first and only theory that uses epigenetic mechanisms and principles for explaining evolution of metazoans Takes an integrative approach and shows a wide range of learning
