Book The Chemistry of Agriculture

Download or read book The Chemistry of Agriculture written by Charles W. Stoddart and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2016-09-17 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Chemistry of Agriculture: For Students and Farmers There is at present need for a text on general agricultural chemistry which will cover the field briefly, in a logical manner, giving only the facts, and not consisting of a dis connected series of quotations and tables from the very extended literature of the subject. The need for such a text has been particularly marked in teaching large classes of students at The Pennsylvania State College. As a con sequence the present book has been written. While it is intended primarily for students who have had previous training in Botany, Chemistry, Geology and Physics, it is sufficiently elementary to make it of value to any intelligent person. Concerning some of the statements made in the text it is well known that a difference of opinion exists among authorities, but it is deemed better to present them as facts rather than to give the various arguments or to omit them altogether. Book Manual of Agricultural Chemistry Classic Reprint

Download or read book Manual of Agricultural Chemistry Classic Reprint written by Herbert Ingle and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-12-27 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Manual of Agricultural Chemistry Chemistry has an intimate connection with the processes of life, both animal and vegetable. The processes involved in vital phen omena, those occurring in the soil and indeed, in most natural Opera tions, are attended by Slow chemical changes, Often so complex in character that they are difficult to unravel. The ordinary chemical student acquires in his training a familiarity with reactions, which, as a rule, proceed quickly to a definite and well-marked termination. This, indeed, is the case with the vast majority of chemical changes occurring in the industries, and, for the most part, such reactions are thoroughly understood and can be satisfactorily explained. Book General Agricultural Chemistry

Download or read book General Agricultural Chemistry written by Edwin Bret Hart and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-25 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from General Agricultural Chemistry Since the time of Liebig, agriculture in its many phases has profited from the science of chemistry. A store of useful information has been made available through the study of the elements and compounds fundamentally concerned in the art of agriculture. It is reasonable to expect that this art will in the future be enriched from the same source. This little book was written in the interest of the young farmer and the student beginning the study of agricultural chemistry. No extended knowledge of chemistry is required for its understanding. It makes no special appeal to the chemist. It is a survey of the general field of chemistry applied to agriculture, with the emphasis placed on the applied side. Throughout the book we have striven to express safe views rather than to echo the most recent. Hypotheses and theories have not been discussed in detail. We have attempted to give, in general, only well tested and established principles. For students who have had some chemical training, a certain amount of formulation has been introduced. While we recognize its helpfulness, nevertheless, it is not essential to the understanding of the main facts of this book. The authors have drawn freely from various publications, endeavoring to bring together from scattered sources the materials essential to such a work on agricultural chemistry. In this regard we are especially indebted to the works of Ingle, Warington, Storer, Voorhees, Vivian, Jordan and others, all of which have aided greatly in the preparation of this work. Book Agricultural Chemical Analysis Classic Reprint

Download or read book Agricultural Chemical Analysis Classic Reprint written by Percy Faraday Frankland and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-01 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Agricultural Chemical Analysis At the outset I intended that these pages should be merely a translation of Dr. F. Krocker's excellent hand-book, entitled Leitfaden fur die Agricultur-Chemische Analyse, which, through his generosity, was placed at I my disposal. Soon, however, I came to the conclusion that a somewhat more extensive treatment of the strictly agricultural portion would be desirable in a work of the kind published in this country. I have therefore described more exhaustively the examination of substances connected with agriculture; whilst, to avoid much increasing the size of the volume, I have almost entirely passed over the General Principles of Analytical Chemistry, with which I have assumed the reader to be already conversant. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Food of Plants: An Introduction to Agricultural Chemistry This little book has been written as an experimental introduction to Agricultural Chemistry for beginners, and I have therefore not assumed any knowledge of chemistry on the part of the reader. On the other hand, he will have, in the course of carrying out the experiments described in the text, occasionally to perform operations which he cannot fully understand the meaning of without some little knowledge of chemistry. It would, therefore, be advisable to combine the study of the Chemistry Primer with the study of this book. Book The Chemistry of the Farm Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Chemistry of the Farm Classic Reprint written by Robert Warington and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-26 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Chemistry of the Farm This work is offered in the belief that it will meet the wants of many intelligent farmers, and others interested in the cultivation of the soil, who, while they have neither the time nor the inclination to take up Chemistry as a study, would gladly learn the present relations of Chemistry to Agriculture. The author of this book occupies an important position at Rothamsted. The most casual reader of Agricultural journals is aware that this is the name of an old English estate to which the labors of Messrs. Lawes and Gilbert have given a worldwide reputation as a station where abundant means, added to the highest scientific ability, have been devoted to the elucidation of Agricultural problems, solely for the benefit of Agriculture. Those labors are not for English agriculture especially, but have a world-wide application. The results which are freely given to the world, are those of experiments conducted in the field and stables, as well as in the laboratory, on a scale which gives them a practical value and commends them at once to the farmer as well as to the scientist. This book was released on 2017-12-23 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Lectures on Agricultural Chemistry and Geology For the sake of clearness, I have, in the following pages, divided the subject into four parts, the study Of each preceding part preparing the way for a complete understanding of those which follow. Thus the first part is devoted to the organic elements and parts of plants, the nature and sources Of these elements, and an explanation of the mode in which they become con verted into the substance Of plants - the second to the inorganic elements of plants, comprehending the study of the soils from which these elements are derived with the general relations of geology to agriculture the third to the nature of manures, by which soils are made more productive, and the amount of vegetable produce increased - and the fourth, to the results of ve gelation - to the kind and value of the food produced under different circumstances - and its relation to the growth of cattle, and to the amount and quality of dairy produce. Book The Preparation of Substances Important in Agriculture

Download or read book The Preparation of Substances Important in Agriculture written by Charles A. Peters and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-07-04 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Preparation of Substances, Important in Agriculture: A Laboratory Manual of Synthetic Agricultural Chemistry Third Edition It has been the aim in this manual to select substances of agricultural interest, adapt them to laboratory preparation, and explain their chemistry to the best of our present knowledge not overlooking their practical significance. The work was at first nothing more than laboratory directions, but the interest of the student gradually required the addition of explanatory matter to such a degree that the emphasis on an accompanying text has been greatly reduced. The method of presentation aims to put a few major points before the student and extend the work on such points over so long a time that the student wall absorb it. The author feels that when a student, in his earlier years in college, works interestedly for a whole exercise around one thing he grasps something while if a dozen important points pass in review during the time he is left in a maze and gets little but technical benefit. This book was released on 2017-10-14 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Foundation Course in Chemistry for Students of Agriculture and Technology In the present volume the authors have attempted to emphasise those aspects of the subject which are of special importance to such students, while others have been treated in sufficient detail to enable the general principles to be securely grasped. In order to avoid the mischievous tabula tion of disconnected facts, matters of purely technical interest have been as far as possible omitted from the text; but numerous footnotes have been added, pointing out the application of the general principles to commercial and industrial processes. These notes should add to the interest of the work and, to a certain extent, give point to the students' reading.
