Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Germany, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Indiana, Illinois and Arkansas.

The family arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 11, 1729. Joseph and family settled in Prince Georges' County, Maryland by 1736. He died some time between 1753 and 1756 in Maryland.
