Book The GATEKEEPER the Journey Begins

Download or read book The GATEKEEPER the Journey Begins written by René Fonyuy and published by . This book was released on 2012-02-19 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To everybody, dying is going to heaven and be seated by the almighty God. To most if not to all, dying means looking down on your love ones and spiritually guarding them in life and through life in ensuring that their life is a happy and problem-free one especially from the devil or the evil forces, that the lives of their love ones is free of all misfortune. As Modeste and Etienne are about to find out, life isn't that simple. Dying doesn't result in going to Heaven or Hell and everything that the living perceived of the death seems false contrary to their expectations. They came to realised that they could NOT look back at their love ones and they couldn't do all that they expected of their dead ones when they died. They were not even in Hell or Heaven neither could they met God or Satan (does he exist and if so where they wonder). What they realised was that dying was just a transition, dying was just a path, dying was just a bridge that connects the gap between the world of the living and the other world. Dying was the bridge that takes the soul and the spirit to the other world and in that world the transformation is complete thus resulting in the dead returning back into the world of the living as new human beings. Whilst Etienne and Modeste were undergoing this transformation in the other world, something happened, something unexpected happened. They learned something new, if you did not come with your soul and your spirit intact, you were condemned and that condemnation meant not returning back to the world of the living or if you succeed in coming back, you would be a soulless human being with no moral consideration, remorse or compassion. Instead of finding God or Satan as they would have expected, they instead realised that the other world was managed and run by the Gatekeeper. In the world as well as in the world of the living, there is an evil and scrupulous force called Bongajum with the sole purpose of corrupting mankind, with the sole purpose of condemning souls and with a hidden agenda in gathering those condemned souls that he would have corrupted and stolen in the land of the living and those condemned spirits in the world of the Gatekeeper that he would have smuggled in there without their souls. Also in the Gatekeeper's land is another force, the force for good headed by Serdoise, a very little lady in built and size with her right hand helper Damezalia. Their sole purpose is protecting mankind from extinction and that means keeping Bongajum under check to an extent given her limited her powers. The task of helping Serdoise fight Bongajum is now on Etienne and Modeste, time is against them as they have to return to the world of the living and it is vital that they do so promptly. It is vital that they do not go through the transformation, it is also vital that they are not seen by the Gatekeeper as he would have exterminate them given that their spirit is condemn for not being intact and definitely they have to be careful not to be tricked or taken by Bongajum himself to his camp whilst in the world of the death. Time was against time as they have to return to recuperate their soul from the world of the living before it falls into the hands of Bongajum and without their souls, fighting Bongajum is not on the menu and mankind will be in peril.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What happens after the dream comes true? Surely this must be "happily ever after." Anna Merritt is going to live in England, she has a job with the Truman Foundation, and she is being reunited with all her old companions - even Nicholas. But when life in London turns out to be quite different from how she'd imagined it, and when Mr. Diggs turns up again with a plan to destroy what the Trumans have worked so hard to build, Anna and her friends must all reconsider the dream of "home" - and what they are willing to sacrifice for it. Interview with the Author Q: What makes the Gatekeeper trilogy special? A: Who doesn't like a bit of adventure, particularly of the European kind? The Gatekeeper trilogy takes the reader through adventure in every form. In the first book, adventure finds us unexpectedly; in the second, we learn the dangers of trying to manufacture adventure for ourselves; in the third, we realize that the truest and biggest adventures always turn out to be rather different than what we've planned. Q: What is the main character like? A: Anna Miranda Merritt is a girl very much like me - a likeness which is the cause of most of her woes, alas. Her unquenchable thirst for beauty and meaning leads her right into the literary, cultural arms of Oxford University, a place which captures her heart and awakens new dreams in her soul. It is this love of all things British - and, more importantly, the deep and surprising relationships she discovers in England, Ireland, and beyond- that makes her coming of age story uniquely poignant. Q: Do I have to read the books in order? A: I have an abiding devotion to order, particularly of the chronological kind. I wrote these books over a period of thirteen years, so they are a kind of authorial autobiography. Ergo, reading the trilogy in order certainly gives some insight, as you can chart the personal and artistic growth of the author along with the main character. That being said...I also have an abiding commitment to personal freedoms. Do what you will; I believe you will enjoy Anna's story in whatever sequence. :-) Q: Why should readers give these books a try? A: This is a story about beginnings, endings, and all the quietly real drama that occurs in the most ordinary of lives during these "in-between" times. For anyone who's ever found themselves, lost themselves, or is still searching, these characters have something to say. I wish you joy of the journey!

Book Gatekeeping Theory

Download or read book Gatekeeping Theory written by Pamela J. Shoemaker and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2009-09-10 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gatekeeping is one of the media’s central roles in public life: people rely on mediators to transform information about billions of events into a manageable number of media messages. This process determines not only which information is selected, but also what the content and nature of messages, such as news, will be. Gatekeeping Theory describes the powerful process through which events are covered by the mass media, explaining how and why certain information either passes through gates or is closed off from media attention. This book is essential for understanding how even single, seemingly trivial gatekeeping decisions can come together to shape an audience’s view of the world, and illustrates what is at stake in the process.

Book The Gatekeeper

Download or read book The Gatekeeper written by Kathryn Smith and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2016-09-06 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Journalist Smith (A Necessary War) grants readers an unusual insider's view of F.D.R.'s political career by profiling his longtime private secretary. Marguerite 'Missy' LeHand, a young woman with a modest background, an agile intellect, a pleasant personality, and remarkable stenographer's skills, began working for F.D.R. in 1920, when he ran for vice president. Smith writes particularly well about F.D.R.'s struggle to bounce back from being struck with polio in 1921, explaining the disease and the origins of the Warm Springs, Ga., health spa that he frequented. LeHand was F.D.R.'s most constant companion during the 1920s, sparking rumors--convincingly dismissed by Smith--that they were lovers. The real core of the story is the White House years from 1933 until 1942, when LeHand helped create the vast New Deal bureaucracy. She decided who would see the president and when; today her title would be chief of staff. LeHand worked long hours but took time to enjoy the perks of the job, including a barrage of social invitations and fawning press coverage. Though Smith overstates her claim about LeHand's importance to F.D.R. and his work as president, she delivers a fascinating account of one woman's involvement in an important administration"--Publishersweekly.com.
