Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the dependence on the depleting fossils fuels continues and global warming increases, we need to find an energy system that is renewable and sustainable, efficient and cost-effective, convenient and safe. Hydrogen has been proposed as the perfect fuel to sustain the energy system. The availability of a reliable and cost-effective supply, safe and efficient storage, and convenient end use of hydrogen will be essential for a transition to a hydrogen economy. Research is being conducted throughout the world for the development of safe, cost-effective hydrogen production, storage, and end-use technologies that support and foster this transition. Hydrogen Economy discusses the strategies and roadmaps of introducing hydrogen as the alternate source of fuel for sustainable development. The book examines the link between development and energy, prospects of sustainable development, significance of hydrogen energy economy. It provides an authoritative and up-to-date scientific account of hydrogen generation, storage, transportation, and safety. Key Features: · Explains the significance of hydrogen economy · Examines the feasibility of transporting, distributing and utilizing hydrogen · Assesses the safety of using hydrogen and potential hazards Contents: Preface 1. Book The Effectiveness of Recertification Techniques for High Pressure Seamless Steel Gas Cylinders

Download or read book The Effectiveness of Recertification Techniques for High Pressure Seamless Steel Gas Cylinders written by and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study found that the pressurisation of cylinders during the hydrostatic pressure test may create fatigue cracks within isolated corroded pits and that although the cylinder may not fail during the hydrostatic pressure test, the fatigue crack may grow to a critical level and result in the failure of a cylinder whilst in-service as a result of cyclic loading and external corrosion experienced during the time interval between periodic tests. This review of cylinder recertification techniques confirmed that ultrasonic testing has a higher probability of flaw detection in comparison to hydrostatic pressure testing. This review also identified that in instances where flaws are present and go undetected during the hydrostatic pressure test, the proof test increases the extent of the flaw and thus increases the probability of failure during service. The evidence was sufficient for IMCA to accept a re-drafted code of practice which was submitted as part of this study to replace the current recommended guidance.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 664 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the field of compressed gases and related equipment, there is an expanding core of essential knowledge that people handling and using these materials should be familiar with or should know where to find when necessary. The focus of this book concerns the properties and the accepted means of trans portation, storage, and handling of compressed gases. This Handbook is simul taneously intended as an overview of the subject and a source of supplementary information. It is also intended to serve as a guide to pertinent federal regulatory requirements and published standards of the Compressed Gas Association and other standards-writing bodies. Readers are advised that the CGA technical pamphlets remain the official state ment of policy by the Association on a particular matter. Reference is made throughout this text to the numerous technical pamphlets published by the Com pressed Gas Association. Some of these publications have been incorporated by reference into federal, state, provincial, and local regulations. Since these pam phlets are reviewed on a periodic basis, wherever the text of this Handbook may be found in conflict with corresponding information in the CGA technical pam phlets, the latter shall take precedence.
