Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It Is Well Known That The Applications Of Unit Operations Like Heat Transfer, Evaporation, Extraction, Mixing, Filtration And A Host Of Others Are Quite Common In The Pharmaceutical Industry, Be It In The Production Of Synthetic Drugs, Biological And Microbiological Products Or In The Manufacture Of Pharmaceutical Formulations. As Such Anyone Who Is To Look After These Manufacturing Operations Must Be Quite Knowledgeable With The Theoretical And Equipment Aspects Involved In The Relevant Unit Operations.Since A Major Involvement Of The Pharmacy Graduates Lies In The Numerous Manufacturing Operations Mentioned Above, It Is Very Much Necessary That The Subject Is Taught With A Pharmacy Orientation. There Is No Book So Far Which Has Achieved This. The Existing Books On Unit Operations Give Extensive Theory And Also Deal With A Lot Of Equipment Not Employed In The Pharmaceutical Industry. Due To A Lack Of A Pharmacy-Oriented Book In This Area, The Students And The Teachers Are Facing Difficulties In Many Ways. The Present Book Is The First One Of Its Kind On Pharmaceutical Engineering. The Special Features Of This Book Are As Follows: It Includes Theoretical And Equipment Aspects Relevant To Thepharmaceutical Industry And That Too To The Extent Needed For Pharmacy Graduates And Examples From Pharmaceutical Industry Are Quoted Extensively; Solutions To A Number Of Simpler Numerical Problems Are Given. At The End Of Each Chapter, A Large Number Of Questions, Both Theoretical And Numerical, Are Given. There Is Therefore No Doubt That The Book Will Be Of Great Use Not Only To The Students But Also To The Teachers In The Subject In India And Abroad As Well.

Download or read book Gas Treating written by Dag Eimer and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-08-25 with total page 512 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gas Treating: Absorption Theory and Practice provides an introduction to the treatment of natural gas, synthesis gas and flue gas, addressing why it is necessary and the challenges involved. The book concentrates in particular on the absorption–desorption process and mass transfer coupled with chemical reaction. Following a general introduction to gas treatment, the chemistry of CO2, H2S and amine systems is described, and selected topics from physical chemistry with relevance to gas treating are presented. Thereafter the absorption process is discussed in detail, column hardware is explained and the traditional mass transfer model mechanisms are presented together with mass transfer correlations. This is followed by the central point of the text in which mass transfer is combined with chemical reaction, highlighting the associated possibilities and problems. Experimental techniques, data analysis and modelling are covered, and the book concludes with a discussion on various process elements which are important in the absorption–desorption process, but are often neglected in its treatment. These include heat exchange, solution management, process flowsheet variations, choice of materials and degradation of absorbents. The text is rounded off with an overview of the current state of research in this field and a discussion of real-world applications. This book is a practical introduction to gas treating for practicing process engineers and chemical engineers working on purification technologies and gas treatment, in particular, those working on CO2 abatement processes, as well as post-graduate students in process engineering, chemical engineering and chemistry.

Book Absorption Based Post Combustion Capture of Carbon Dioxide

Download or read book Absorption Based Post Combustion Capture of Carbon Dioxide written by Paul Feron and published by Woodhead Publishing. This book was released on 2016-05-27 with total page 816 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Absorption-Based Post-Combustion Capture of Carbon Dioxide provides a comprehensive and authoritative review of the use of absorbents for post-combustion capture of carbon dioxide. As fossil fuel-based power generation technologies are likely to remain key in the future, at least in the short- and medium-term, carbon capture and storage will be a critical greenhouse gas reduction technique. Post-combustion capture involves the removal of carbon dioxide from flue gases after fuel combustion, meaning that carbon dioxide can then be compressed and cooled to form a safely transportable liquid that can be stored underground. - Provides researchers in academia and industry with an authoritative overview of the amine-based methods for carbon dioxide capture from flue gases and related processes - Editors and contributors are well known experts in the field - Presents the first book on this specific topic

Book Gas absorption Process

Download or read book Gas absorption Process written by and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This invention is an improved gas-absorption process for the recovery of a desired component from a feed-gas mixture containing the same. In the preferred form of the invention, the process operations are conducted in a closed-loop system including a gas-liquid contacting column having upper, intermediate, and lower contacting zones. A liquid absorbent for the desired component is circulated through the loop, being passed downwardly through the column, regenerated, withdrawn from a reboiler, and then recycled to the column. A novel technique is employed to concentrate the desired component in a narrow section of the intermediate zone. This technique comprises maintaining the temperature of the liquid-phase input to the intermediate zone at a sufficiently lower value than that of the gas-phase input to the zone to effect condensation of a major part of the absorbent-vapor upflow to the section. This establishes a steep temperature gradient in the section. The stripping factors below this section are selected to ensure that virtually all of the gases in the downflowing absorbent from the section are desorbed. The stripping factors above the section are selected to ensure re-dissolution of the desired component but not the less-soluble diluent gases. As a result, a peak concentration of the desired component is established in the section, and gas rich in that component can be withdrawn therefrom. The new process provides important advantages. The chief advantage is that the process operations can be conducted in a single column in which the contacting zones operate at essentially the same pressure.

Book Absorption

Download or read book Absorption written by R. Zarzycki and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 659 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives a practical account of the modern theory of calculation of absorbers for binary and multicomponent physical absorption and absorption with simultaneous chemical reaction. The book consists of two parts: the theory of absorption and the calculation of absorbers. Part I covers basic knowledge on diffusion and the theory of mass transfer in binary and multicomponent systems. Significant stress is laid on diffusion theory because this forms the basis for the absorption process. In the next chapters the fundamentals of simultaneous mass transfer and chemical reaction, the theory of the desorption of gases from liquids and the formulation of differential mass balances are discussed. Part II is devoted to the calculation of absorbers and the classification of absorbers. The chapters present calculation methods for the basic types of absorber with a detailed analysis of the calculation methods for packed, plate and bubble columns. The authors illustrate the presented material with a large number of examples, starting with simple ones for binary systems and ending with column calculation for multicomponent systems.
