Book excerpt: This is part 2 of "The Dark Possessor Saga (Sympathy-B, vol. 1)." The full, action-packed epic is now available in paperback! "Betrayed and pushed to their limits, the adventures of the Hyperion Team reach an action-packed, epic climax as the world is changed...and lives are sacrificed." Facing battles on two fronts, Derek's superhero team must fight their own and confront the rotten fruits of political corruption. The Dark Possessor makes his next bid for power, while Dr. Chino witnesses the emergence of a soul crushing plot that could throw the planet into world war. As America and Japan become more entangled in a deadly game of conspiracy and espionage, it will be our heroes who battle the consequences. In "Game of Protocols," the name and origins of a great threat are revealed. As The President and chairman of Excelsior step on stage, Daniel Sutheford will continue a play of wits that will either further or hinder his mysterious ambitions. Why is Zuna the key? Series Overview Considered the savior of America's economy, Daniel Sutheford, CEO of Hyperion Enterprises, inherited a project so ambitious that it competed with the vast undertakings of the continental unions. The company's self-sustaining habitats compete with Europe's hovering military bases and Asia's cybernetically enhanced law enforcers in a race to the future. However, Sutheford has invested his legacy in another technology...superheroes. "Sympathy-B" is a blockbuster with big themes, explosions, and heart. Featuring LGBTQ and racially diverse characters, this series makes superheroes relatable. Our young heroes fall in (and out) of love, question their identities, and long for family and fulfillment. Filled with action-packed superheroics, drama, and corporate/political intrigue, Sympathy-B is a science fiction action thriller that expands the possibilities of who we are and who we can be. Download or read book TIP 35 Enhancing Motivation for Change in Substance Use Disorder Treatment Updated 2019 written by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-11-19 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Motivation is key to substance use behavior change. Counselors can support clients' movement toward positive changes in their substance use by identifying and enhancing motivation that already exists. Motivational approaches are based on the principles of person-centered counseling. Counselors' use of empathy, not authority and power, is key to enhancing clients' motivation to change. Clients are experts in their own recovery from SUDs. Counselors should engage them in collaborative partnerships. Ambivalence about change is normal. Resistance to change is an expression of ambivalence about change, not a client trait or characteristic. Confrontational approaches increase client resistance and discord in the counseling relationship. Motivational approaches explore ambivalence in a nonjudgmental and compassionate way.

Book Preschool Peer Social Intervention in Autism Spectrum Disorder

Download or read book Preschool Peer Social Intervention in Autism Spectrum Disorder written by Nirit Bauminger-Zviely and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-09-22 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the Preschool Peer Social Intervention (PPSI), a manualized comprehensive social curriculum to enhance peer-interaction for pre-schoolers with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in three key domains: play, interaction, and conversation. The book outlines the PPSI’s transactional approach in each of the three intervention domains and incorporates developmental features and age-appropriate play, interaction, and conversation skills while accounting for individual differences in social communication abilities. The intervention is designed to be implemented within the child’s natural social environment, such as preschool, and it includes the child’s social agents, namely, their peers, teachers, and parents. PPSI intervention curricula addressed in this book are based on typical play, interaction, and conversation development, taking into account the social and communication challenges found to characterize young children with ASD in these domains. Building up the ability to play, interact and converse more efficiently with peers may render a substantial impact on preschoolers with ASD, with vast potential for improving not only these children’s immediate social experience with peers, but also their future social competence that relies on these early building blocks.

Book Institutions and Governance in Comparative Policy Analysis Studies

Download or read book Institutions and Governance in Comparative Policy Analysis Studies written by Iris Geva-May and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2020-06-09 with total page 502 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume Two of the Classics of Comparative Policy Analysis, contains chapters concerned with "Institutions and Governance in Comparative Policy Analysis Studies". They highlight that at the core of any policy making, the different institutions and modes of governance have a significant effect. Questions about the impact of governance have become more central to comparative policy analysis as scholars have given more attention to globalization, organizational cultural differences, policy learning, transfer, and diffusion. The chapters included in this volume tackle the nature of policies and policy analytic practices within and across organizations, actors and institutions as well as among governance modes. The chapters demonstrate the ways in which institutions and governance in the public and private sectors, shape policies, and conversely, how policy choices can shape the institutions associated with them. Other chapters focus on how the diffusion of knowledge and lesson drawing address challenges of policy making, cooperation and harmonization. "Institutions and Governance in Comparative Policy Analysis Studies" will be of great interest to scholars and learners of public policy and social sciences, as well as to practitioners considering what can be reliably contextualized, learned, facilitated or avoided given their own institutional or governance systems. The chapters were originally published as articles in the Journal of Comparative Policy Analysis which in the last two decades has pioneered the development of comparative public policy. The volume is part of a four-volume series, the Classics of Comparative Policy Analysis including Theories and Methods, Institutions and Governance, Regional Comparisons, and Policy Sectors. Each volume also showcases a new chapter comparing interrelated domains of study with comparative public policy: political science, public administration, governance and policy design, authored by JCPA co-editors Giliberto Capano, Iris Geva-May, Michael Howlett, Leslie Pal and B. Guy Peters.
