Book Dessins d Enfants on Riemann Surfaces

Download or read book Dessins d Enfants on Riemann Surfaces written by Gareth A. Jones and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-03-23 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides an introduction to dessins d'enfants and embeddings of bipartite graphs in compact Riemann surfaces. The first part of the book presents basic material, guiding the reader through the current field of research. A key point of the second part is the interplay between the automorphism groups of dessins and their Riemann surfaces, and the action of the absolute Galois group on dessins and their algebraic curves. It concludes by showing the links between the theory of dessins and other areas of arithmetic and geometry, such as the abc conjecture, complex multiplication and Beauville surfaces. Dessins d'Enfants on Riemann Surfaces will appeal to graduate students and all mathematicians interested in maps, hypermaps, Riemann surfaces, geometric group actions, and arithmetic.

Book Multiple Literacies for Dance Physical Education and Sports

Download or read book Multiple Literacies for Dance Physical Education and Sports written by Stephen G. Mogge and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-03-14 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores a spectrum of literacies relevant to dance, physical education and sports. It examines conceptions of movement literacies, disciplinary literacies and traditional school literacies. It includes theory, research and instructional practice related to the uses of traditional print, multimedia, and embodied physical literacies. These literacies function independently but are also overlapping and mutually reinforcing in comprehensive instructional planning. As movement and activity-related fields continue to explore the potential for multiple literacies, this book introduces numerous possibilities, both conceptual and practical, for consideration. · Pre-service and in-service teachers in dance and physical education programs will learn how to integrate multiple literacies in curriculum design and teaching. · Graduate students will examine theoretical premises of movement and disciplinary literacies and become familiar with original research on these topics. · Teachers, school administrators, coaches and athletic directors will use the book in order to guide the inclusion of movement and activity-based fields in the disciplinary literacy agenda now common in Pre-K through secondary schooling. Media rich chapters, including photographic, video and other graphic images, allow students to access concepts through multiple modalities

This book was released on 2006-11-21 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Multiple Sclerosis International Foundation estimates that over 2.5 million people worldwide have multiple sclerosis. Throughout developed countries, increased attention has been paid to this disorder, due in large part to advanced imaging technology and the development of new therapeutic pharmaceutical agents. Multiple Sclerosis for the Practicing Neurologist, edited by Joel Oger, MD, and Adnan Al-Araji, MB, offers a practical review of this disabling condition, especially focused on the evaluation and treatment of patients in low-resource environments, which lack these new technologies. It is the fifth volume in a series of clinically oriented titles developed under the auspices of the World Federation of Neurology. This volume gives concise, useful clinical information for practicing neurologists, providing a straightforward overview of each topic and including many representative case studies. Drs. Oger and Al-Araji effectively demonstrate that a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis is possible and acceptable without expensive tests and equipment, such as MRIs. In parallel, treatment options that avoid costly disease-modifying drugs have been stressed throughout. Topics covered include: Diagnosis and diagnostic tests Symptom management and immunotherapy Multiple sclerosis rating scales Clinical trials in multiple sclerosis Multiple Sclerosis for the Practicing Neurologist is the first volume to address the issues faced by neurologists with limited resources who must deliver care to MS patients.

Book excerpt: This edited volume contains technical contributions in the field of computer vision and image processing presented at the First International Conference on Computer Vision and Image Processing (CVIP 2016). The contributions are thematically divided based on their relation to operations at the lower, middle and higher levels of vision systems, and their applications. The technical contributions in the areas of sensors, acquisition, visualization and enhancement are classified as related to low-level operations. They discuss various modern topics – reconfigurable image system architecture, Scheimpflug camera calibration, real-time autofocusing, climate visualization, tone mapping, super-resolution and image resizing. The technical contributions in the areas of segmentation and retrieval are classified as related to mid-level operations. They discuss some state-of-the-art techniques – non-rigid image registration, iterative image partitioning, egocentric object detection and video shot boundary detection. The technical contributions in the areas of classification and retrieval are categorized as related to high-level operations. They discuss some state-of-the-art approaches – extreme learning machines, and target, gesture and action recognition. A non-regularized state preserving extreme learning machine is presented for natural scene classification. An algorithm for human action recognition through dynamic frame warping based on depth cues is given. Target recognition in night vision through convolutional neural network is also presented. Use of convolutional neural network in detecting static hand gesture is also discussed. Finally, the technical contributions in the areas of surveillance, coding and data security, and biometrics and document processing are considered as applications of computer vision and image processing. They discuss some contemporary applications. A few of them are a system for tackling blind curves, a quick reaction target acquisition and tracking system, an algorithm to detect for copy-move forgery based on circle block, a novel visual secret sharing scheme using affine cipher and image interleaving, a finger knuckle print recognition system based on wavelet and Gabor filtering, and a palmprint recognition based on minutiae quadruplets.
