Book excerpt: On the eve of the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York City, a political fixer named Flanagan receives an unwelcome assignment: find out what happened to his boss's lover before his wife does. As a wave of conservatives descend on a prickly, pugnacious Manhattan, Flanagan gets caught in a whirlwind of sexual secrecy, murder, and the dark acts of a political party bent on empire. From the political influence of Joey Ramone to the restless, heated energy of New York in August, the raw political friction and firecracker sexuality of G.O.P. Book excerpt: "Singer. Dancer. Burlesque club stripper. Gangster moll. Communist revolutionary. Screen legend Karen Jamey has worn a lot of hats in her time and loved more men than the staff of a Reno cathouse. From her auspicious beginnings on the Baltimore stage to her status as the reigning queen of the B-movie scene, I, An Actress takes a sordid journey through the darkly funny underbelly of fame." "With characteristic wit, candor, and cluelessness, Ms. Jamey reflects on the events that have shaped her into the beloved American figure she is today - her mother's sad descent into hoboism, the untimely death and subsequent resurrection of her grandfather, the films that built her up, and the men that tore her down. Relentlessly dolling out morbid humor and mercilessly skewering Hollywood cliches, I, An Actress is a romp through the twists and turns of fame."--BOOK JACKET.

But hell breaks loose and procedure breaks down when Hicks realizes the killer is impersonating him. In the unreal world of celebrity, power brokers, and decadence, the good detective spends the home stretch of his career tracking a twisted murderer and clearing his name. Like Michael Tolkin's The Player, Dead Rite both embraces and satirizes the pulp tradition, reviving it for a younger audience while turning an unsparing noir eye toward an older generation of classic works.

Book Equilibrium Credit Rationing

Download or read book Equilibrium Credit Rationing written by William R. Keeton and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-04-28 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study, first published in 1979, examines and contrasts two concepts of credit rationing. The first concept takes the relevant price of credit to be the explicit interest rate on the loan and defines the demand for credit as the amount an individual borrower would like to receive at that rate. Under the alternative definition, the price of credit consists of the complete set of loan terms confronting a class of borrowers with given characteristics, while the demand for credit equals the total number of loan which members of the class would like to receive at those terms. This title will be of interest to students of monetary economics.
