Calling themselves the Holy League of Rudy, they are a pack of kooks and rowdies whose creative knack for finding trouble is an endless source of pride. With college looking like death by boredom, Bones volunteers for the Cold War, hoping he can see the world and be all that he can be. Plopped down in a Kansas missile silo, he finds all he can be is, well, nothing. A tragedy involving his father and a night spent with a phantom from his past combine to force the truth on Bones: He's no soldier, and his cheerleader's "to do" list now includes men of her own kind. Just as he feels beaten and resigned, a horrific missile disaster sets Bones on a quest to recover his sanity. He returns to California and a wild reunion with friends, enemies, and the woman he thought he loved. The truths he discovers about himself and the ghosts that haunt his dreams will leave you laughing, crying, and craving further exploits of Bones and company! Download or read book Dwelling on the edge of the Neolithic written by Gary Robert Nobles and published by Barkhuis. This book was released on 2017-02-14 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents a detailed spatial analysis of the sites of Keinsmerbrug, Mienakker, and Zeewijk. These Late Neolithic settlement sites define the westernmost edge of the Corded Ware Culture (c. 2900-2300 cal BC). The people took part in a broad spectrum of activities: hunting, gathering, fishing, agriculture, animal husbandry, and artisan crafts. They maintained their regional traditions while dwelling on the edge of this Neolithic cultural group. The study depicts Neolithic households as highly mobile with sedentary and seasonal settlements. The patterns that emerge from the in-depth spatial analysis of material distributions indicate the presence of spatially bound locations for specific activities. This structuring of space further supports the identification of various dwelling structures. Neolithic monumentality is, for the first time, identified within the Dutch coastal wetlands. The biographical perspective underlines the ephemeral nature of the divide between the place of the living and the place of the ancestors.
Download or read book Understanding the Gut Bone Signaling Axis written by Laura R. McCabe and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-02 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book compiling current research on the gut-bone signaling axis and its implications in the pathophysiology of GI and bone diseases. Rather than focusing on a single mechanism, this book provides the reader with a broad view on gut-bone signaling and the most up-to-date information in this rapidly growing area. The volume is also unique in that it looks at what is known about GI diseases affecting bone and then examines the role of the microbiome and its modulation by pre and probiotics to treat bone disease, placing this topic within the context of gut-bone signaling pathways. Understanding the Gut-Bone Signaling Axis will thus provide an understanding of how various therapies could be applied to this area.
