Book Fuzzy Control of the Electrohydraulic Actuator

Download or read book Fuzzy Control of the Electrohydraulic Actuator written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Industrial applications increasingly require actuators that offer a combination of high force output, large stroke and high accuracy. The ElectroHydraulic Actuator (EHA) was designed by Drs. Habibi and Goldenberg originally as a high-performance actuator for use in robotics. However, it was determined that the EHA had the potential to achieve high positional accuracy. Little research has been performed in the area of high-accuracy hydraulic positioning systems. Therefore, the objective of this study to achieve nano-scale positional accuracy with the EHA while maintaining large stroke and high force output. It was planned to achieve this objective through modification of the prototype EHA and the use of fuzzy control. During this research project, both hardware and control system modifications to the EHA were performed. A high-precision optical encoder position sensor with a 50 nm resolution was mounted on the inertial load to directly measure the position of the load. A number of device drivers were written to interface the MATLAB real-time control environment with the optical encoder and servo motor amplifier. A Sugeno-inference fuzzy controller was designed and implemented in MATLAB. For comparison purposes, a switched-gain controller and a proportional controller were also implemented in the control environment. The performance of the fuzzy controller was compared to the switched-gain controller and the proportional controller in a number of tests. First, the regulatory and tracking performance of the EHA with an inertial load of 20 kg was examined. It was determined in the regulatory tests that the positional accuracy of the EHA with the fuzzy controller was excellent, achieving a steady state error of 50 " 25 nm or less for step inputs in the range 5 cm to 200 nm. The positional accuracy during the tracking tests was found to be reduced compared to the regulatory tests since the actuator did not have sufficient time to settle to final accuracy due to the timeva.

Book Fuzzy Controller Design

Download or read book Fuzzy Controller Design written by Zdenko Kovacic and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-08 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fuzzy control methods are critical for meeting the demands of complex nonlinear systems. They bestow robust, adaptive, and self-correcting character to complex systems that demand high stability and functionality beyond the capabilities of traditional methods. A thorough treatise on the theory of fuzzy logic control is out of place on the design bench. That is why Fuzzy Controller Design: Theory and Applications offers laboratory- and industry-tested algorithms, techniques, and formulations of real-world problems for immediate implementation. With surgical precision, the authors carefully select the fundamental elements of fuzzy logic control theory necessary to formulate effective and efficient designs. The book supplies a springboard of knowledge, punctuated with examples worked out in MATLAB®/SIMULINK®, from which newcomers to the field can dive directly into applications. It systematically covers the design of hybrid, adaptive, and self-learning fuzzy control structures along with strategies for fuzzy controller design suitable for on-line and off-line operation. Examples occupy an entire chapter, with a section devoted to the simulation of an electro-hydraulic servo system. The final chapter explores industrial applications with emphasis on techniques for fuzzy controller implementation and different implementation platforms for various applications. With proven methods based on more than a decade of experience, Fuzzy Controller Design: Theory and Applications is a concise guide to the methodology, design steps, and formulations for effective control solutions.

Book Control of an Electrohydraulic Actuation System

Download or read book Control of an Electrohydraulic Actuation System written by Jayanta Das and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electrohydraulic systems have higher power-to-weight ratio and higher speed of response in comparison to electrical actuators. Advancement in the computational power and user-friendly re-embedding option of real-time control algorithm in Field-Programmable Gate-Array, or FPGA, architecture hold promise for the design and use of the more precise and robust nonlinear model-based controllers. Non-linear behavior of the system poses challenge to modeling and control of electro-hydraulic systems. The objective of the studies are nonlinear modeling through systematic experimental characterization of the different modules of an electrohydraulic system and their use for real-time control. The mathematical models used in overall plant are used to develop a close loop control model of the plant. An off-line nonlinear feedforward control with spring loading on the actuator piston beyond cushioning zone has been developed using these subsystem models by neglecting oil compressibility, valve dynamics and leakage.PID feedback has been used in real-time so as to take care of the unmodelled features and the modeling approximations.Simulation model developed controller is used in real-time.
