Download or read book What Are Furbies How The Furby Toyline Became A Global Phenomenon The Different Types Of Furbies That People Can Buy And The Reasons Why People Buy Furbies The Benefits Of Buying Furbies written by Dr. Harrison Sachs and published by The Epic Books Of Dr. Harrison Sachs. This book was released on 2022-12-21 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This essay sheds light on what are Furbies, explicates how the Furby toyline became a global phenomenon, demystifies the different types of Furbies that people can buy, reveals the reasons why people buy Furbies, and delineates the benefits of buying Furbies. Succinctly stated, Furbies are deemed to be electronic robotic toys which resemble owl-like creatures. Even though most Furbies are devoid of wings, they nonetheless have an appearance that is at least semi-akin to the appearance of owls. The Furby toyline launched in 1998 and was produced by Tiger Electronics. Tiger Electronics become a subsidiary of Hasbro in 1998, the year that the Furby toyline was launched. The Furby toyline became a global phenomenon during its genesis and even managed to yield a high sales volume of over 40,000,000 units of Furbies which were sold in a three year time span from 1998-2000. The Furby toyline managed to become a global phenomenon during its genesis for a vast variety of disparate reasons. Furbies are extraordinary electronic robotic toys even though their capabilities are variegated. In other words, Furbies who are apart of the latest Furby generations are apt to possess more capabilities than Furbies of the oldest Furby generations. Furbies are not only capable of speaking Furbish and other languages, but are also capable of making complex facial movements and interacting with people. Certain Furbies are even capable of interacting with other Furbies who are apart of the same Furby generation as them. Certain Furbies are also capable of singing and performing dance routines. Certain Furbies even possess voice recognition capabilities. Furbies have far greater capabilities than most people presume that they do. It is presumed that the first-generation of Furbies that were released in 1998 are, for instance, capable of speaking in ten different languages if you account for them being able to speak phrases in Furbish and English as well as speak phrases in eight different foreign languages. The Furby toyline is an eminently robust toyline since Furbies have far greater capabilities than most toys. Customers revel in interacting with Furbies since Furbies are beloved interactive electronic robotic toys which have an appearance that is at least partially akin to the appearance of owls. Interacting with beloved interactive electronic robotic toys can induce a sense of euphoria in contexts in which the interaction is amusing and is able to draw forth bona fide laughter. It can be a humorous experience to engage in conversations with Furbies, especially in contexts in which they at least partially speak to you in Furbish. It can also be a humorous experience to bask in watching Furbies of the same generation confabulate with one another, especially in contexts in which they speak in Furbish to one another. Furbish is the native language of the Furbies that Furbies wean themselves off of predominantly using overtime as their primary language. Furbies are smaller than most electronic robotic toys and have a lighter weight than an exorbitant amount of electronic robotic toys. Certain Furbies are deemed to be highly desirable collectibles. Certain Furbies are able to metaphorically command exorbitant premium prices on the secondhand market. On December 17th of 2022, the Coyote Furby, for instance, sold for $3,160.20 on eBay. On August 13th of 2023, the Cuisine Furby, for instance sold, for $2,010.55 on eBay. In December of 2022, the “Tropical Mango Emoto-Tronic Furby” sold for $815 on eBay and the Sunrise Furby sold for $812.75 on eBay. People often grossly underestimate how steep the premium prices on the secondhand market can be for highly desirable collectibles. Furbies can double as collectibles since they are items that Furby collectors ineffably love to collect. Furbies are also easier to collect than most types of items since they are small, lightweight, and soft. It can however be extraordinarily expensive to be obtain a complete collection of Furbies as a Furby collector since there are a myriad of highly desirable Furbies that are able to metaphorically command exorbitant premium prices on the secondhand market. Cultivating a complete Furby collection can also be a time draining undertaking since there are a copious amount of different Furbies that have been released. As of October of 2023, it is estimated that there are significantly over fifty different Furbies that comprise the Furby toyline.

Book Good Toys Bad Toys

Download or read book Good Toys Bad Toys written by Andrew McClary and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2015-02-18 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In early America, most children had only a few toys and parents received advice from family and friends on the best ways to make and use toys. By the early 1900s the Industrial Revolution was producing a new world of toys and giving more parents the wealth to buy them. Mass media also sang the praises of these new factory-made, store-bought toys, but that began to change as early as the mid-1900s when the mass media was used to inform parents of the many dangers of children's toys. Many encourage violence, sexism, racism, and some are actually unsafe and unhealthy. The development of children's toys from early America to the present time and the shifting opinions of them expressed by parents and the mass media throughout this time are the main subjects of this book. The first section discusses the many problems with toys, while the second puts these problems in historical perspective. How have these problems changed, and are still changing today? Might today's toys be about to enter a time when they will be better than ever? The third section argues that many media toy watchers are biased toward the negative, giving toys more of a black eye than they deserve, and considers the challenges that face today's parents as they try to choose the best toys for their children.

Book excerpt: LONGLISTED FOR THE 2020 MAN BOOKER INTERNATIONAL PRIZE A NEW YORK TIMES NOTABLE BOOK OF THE YEAR "Her most unsettling work yet — and her most realistic." --New York Times Named a Best Book of the Year by The New York Times, O, The Oprah Magazine, NPR, Vulture, Bustle, Refinery29, and Thrillist A visionary novel about our interconnected present, about the collision of horror and humanity, from a master of the spine-tingling tale. They've infiltrated homes in Hong Kong, shops in Vancouver, the streets of in Sierra Leone, town squares in Oaxaca, schools in Tel Aviv, bedrooms in Indiana. They're everywhere. They're here. They're us. They're not pets, or ghosts, or robots. They're real people, but how can a person living in Berlin walk freely through the living room of someone in Sydney? How can someone in Bangkok have breakfast with your children in Buenos Aires, without your knowing? Especially when these people are completely anonymous, unknown, unfindable. The characters in Samanta Schweblin's brilliant new novel, Little Eyes, reveal the beauty of connection between far-flung souls—but yet they also expose the ugly side of our increasingly linked world. Trusting strangers can lead to unexpected love, playful encounters, and marvelous adventure, but what happens when it can also pave the way for unimaginable terror? This is a story that is already happening; it's familiar and unsettling because it's our present and we're living it, we just don't know it yet. In this prophecy of a story, Schweblin creates a dark and complex world that's somehow so sensible, so recognizable, that once it's entered, no one can ever leave.

Book Technocreep

Download or read book Technocreep written by Thomas P. Keenan and published by Greystone Books Ltd. This book was released on 2014 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Technology is rapidly moving into our bodies," writes cyber expert Keenan, "and this book gives a chilling look ahead into where that road may lead us - on a one way trip to the total surrender of privacy and the commoditization of intimacy." Here is the definitive dissection of privacy-eroding and life-invading technologies, coming at you from governments, corporations, and the person next door. Take, for example, "Girls Around Me": a Russian-made iPhone App that allowed anyone to scan the immediate vicinity for girls and women who checked in on Foursquare and had poorly secured Facebook profiles. It combined this information in a way never intended by the original poster. Going to a Disney theme park? Your creepy new "MagicBand" will alert Minnie Mouse that you're on the way and she'll know your kid's name when you approach her. Thinking about sending your DNA off to Ancestry.com for some "genetic genealogy"? Perhaps you should think again: your genetic information could be used against you. "This masterful weaving of the negatives and positives of technology makes for a book that is realistic about technology's perils yet optimistic about it's great potential."--Foreword Reviews
