Book Funny Stories from Boy Scout Camp

Download or read book Funny Stories from Boy Scout Camp written by Seth Jaffe and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-07-15 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seth Jaffe wanted to be a Boy Scout ever since he was five years old, and a Cub Scout breakfast of starchy pancakes with synthetic blueberries convinced him of his calling. Finally old enough to make it into the Show, aka the Boy Scouts of America, Jaffe embarked on camping trips where heroes were made and life's mysteries were solved. And then came summer camp. Filled with hilarious true tales, Funny Stories from Boy Scout Camp is an uncensored and uproarious look inside what really happens at a Boy Scout camp to those who (kinda, sorta) run it. This book recounts events that occurred during Jaffe's summers in the 1990s at Camp Eagle Point Bay on Cardinal Island. These stories include spectacular attempts (and failures) to meet girls while literally everybody around him is getting lucky, an elaborate plan to scare the scouts with someone dressed up as Freddie Kruger, and, of course, that time he missed the boat that was supposed to take him home from camp. Irreverent, very adult, and totally true, this book is a must-have for anyone who went to summer camp-and survived!

Book The Boy Scout s Book of Campfire Stories

Download or read book The Boy Scout s Book of Campfire Stories written by Mint Editions and published by Graphic Arts Books. This book was released on 2021-01-19 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Boy Scout’s Book of Campfire Stories (1921) is a collection of stories for children by some of twentieth-century America’s most popular authors. Published for the Boy Scouts of America, the book was intended to entertain Boy Scouts and their leaders on camping trips as well as to instill in them a passion for adventure. In “Silverhorns,” written by Henry van Dyke, an experienced hunter named Dudley Hemenway shares stories with a Scotsman while waiting for their train to depart. Over cigars, they talk about moose hunting, and describe their desire to catch the elusive silverhorn. Zane Grey’s “The Wild-Horse Hunter,” a Western tale, begins with three hunters making camp in the wide-open wilderness. As night falls, they start a fire by a stream and recount their difficult day and their struggle to capture the legendary Wildfire. “The Hydrophobic Skunk” is a humorous tale by Irvin S. Cobb about a rare creature said to live at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Jack London’s “That Spot,” another story of wit and humor, follows a group of prospectors during the Klondike Gold Rush who try and fail to rid themselves of a stray dog that joins their expedition. The Boy Scout’s Book of Campfire Stories is a collection that captures the essence of storytelling—adventure, humor, horror, and wisdom—for children and adults alike. With a beautifully designed cover and professionally typeset manuscript, this edition of The Boy Scout’s Book of Campfire Stories is a classic of American literature reimagined for modern readers.

Little Buddy Goes to Scout Camp is a collection of real life happenings from Buds days as a young lad growing up and coming of age in the best era in American history, the 1950s. The reader is given an introduction into the life of Buddy as he packs up and heads off to Boy Scout Camp for a couple of weeks in the summer of his thirteenth year. The author provides insight into the life and mind of a middle class white boy from Baltimore during that time period through periodic flashbacks. No punches are pulled: this tale depicts life as best as it was remembered. Little Buddy and his best friend, Nathan, pull numerous pranks, rig sporting events to their advantage, evade beatings by enemy scouts, and even land the opportunity to explore what little they know of sex with a couple of girls on Parents Day. Each day provides new opportunities for this devious duo as they make every attempt to buck the system. However, as much fun as Buddy and Nathan make for themselves, the boys get themselves into a situation they cant control when, while on a self-guided hike, they are kidnapped by an old hermit and his pet wolf. Overpowered, they must rely on their mental acuity and prior scout training to turn the odds of survival in their favor.
