Book Fundraising the SMART Way Website

Download or read book Fundraising the SMART Way Website written by Ellen Bristol and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-03-24 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Strategic planning and tactical fundraising can maximize income and minimize costs Fundraising is the lifeblood of the nonprofit, and, successful or otherwise, determines the organization's ability to provide for the group it serves. Every organization attempts to lower overhead while increasing donations, but this often proves to be impossible within existing frameworks. Effective fundraising - increasing donations while engaging more donors and lowering costs - requires a sound strategy that turns major roadblocks into minor hurdles that are easily overcome. It's not about trying harder, it's about working smarter. Fundraising the SMART Way provides the groundwork for a complete revamp of organizational fundraising systems. Author Ellen Bristol applies twenty years of corporate sales experience and eighteen years in fund development consultation to the problem of inefficient fundraising. Bristol turns her extensive sales expertise toward the perspective of "selling" an organization to potential donors, increasing the donor pool, and lowering the cost of fundraising. The book details the questions every nonprofit should be asking to maximize the effectiveness of fundraising efforts, and encourages systematic strategy development by zeroing in on key factors such as: Organizational goals, strengths, and weaknesses Donor actions and motivations Workload management and results QA Opportunity evaluation and organizational action The book outlines clear, concrete, actionable steps that can be immediately implemented to escalate income growth. Effective fundraising is sustainable, consistent, and on-target. It must exceed current need and expand to fill future need. Fundraising the SMART Way represents a true breakthrough in that it lays a foundation for true systemic overhaul, and can be the catalyst for the growth of any nonprofit.

Book Fundraising

Download or read book Fundraising written by Julia Fanthom and published by Dedona Publishing. This book was released on with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundraising events are designed to generate financial support by offering something in return to donors. Donors contribute not just out of goodwill but with the expectation of receiving a benefit or service in exchange. The nature of this exchange depends on the type of fundraising event organized. For instance, a classic example is the car wash fundraiser, where donors pay for their cars to be cleaned as part of the event. Other popular types of fundraising include benefit dinners, performances, bake sales, auctions, and sporting events. Each of these events provides something of value in return for the contributions received. A contemporary example of this is the televised fundraiser, where celebrities encourage viewers to pledge donations, which are then deposited into designated accounts.

Book Uncharitable

  • Author : Dan Pallotta
  • Publisher : Brandeis University Press
  • Release : 2022-10-21
  • ISBN : 1684581249
  • Pages : 337 pages

Download or read book Uncharitable written by Dan Pallotta and published by Brandeis University Press. This book was released on 2022-10-21 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Uncharitable investigates how for-profit strategies could and should be used by nonprofits. Uncharitable goes where no other book on the nonprofit sector has dared to tread. Where other texts suggest ways to optimize performance inside the existing charity paradigm, Uncharitable suggests that the paradigm itself is the problem and calls into question our fundamental canons about charity. Dan Pallotta argues that society’s nonprofit ethic creates an inequality that denies the nonprofit sector critical tools and permissions that the for-profit sector is allowed to use without restraint. These double standards place the nonprofit sector at an extreme disadvantage. While the for-profit sector is permitted to use all the tools of capitalism, the nonprofit sector is prohibited from using any of them. Capitalism is blamed for creating inequities in our society, but charity is prohibited from using the tools of capitalism to rectify them—and ironically, this is all done in the name of charity. This irrational system, Pallotta explains, has its roots in four-hundred-year-old Puritan ethics that banished self-interest from the realm of charity. The ideology is policed today by watchdog agencies and the use of so-called efficiency measures, which Pallotta argues are flawed, unjust, and should be abandoned. By declaring our independence from these obsolete ideas, Pallotta theorizes, we can dramatically accelerate progress on the most urgent social issues of our time. Uncharitable is an important, provocative, timely, and accessible book—a manifesto about equal economic rights for charity. This edition has a new, updated introduction by the author.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Creativity is crucial to business success. But too often, even the most innovative organization quickly becomes a "giant hairball"--a tangled, impenetrable mass of rules, traditions, and systems, all based on what worked in the past--that exercises an inexorable pull into mediocrity. Gordon McKenzie worked at Hallmark Cards for thirty years, many of which he spent inspiring his colleagues to slip the bonds of Corporate Normalcy and rise to orbit--to a mode of dreaming, daring and doing above and beyond the rubber-stamp confines of the administrative mind-set. In his deeply funny book, exuberantly illustrated in full color, he shares the story of his own professional evolution, together with lessons on awakening and fostering creative genius. Originally self-published and already a business "cult classic", this personally empowering and entertaining look at the intersection between human creativity and the bottom line is now widely available to bookstores. It will be a must-read for any manager looking for new ways to invigorate employees, and any professional who wants to achieve his or her best, most self-expressive, most creative and fulfilling work.
